Well I'm glad you found it, I'm not that informed with the reed type carb's. I do remember my buddies pizzing & moaning about reeds with their snowmobiles, I can't believe it's going to be more expensive then the cbi boxes. Great job on the diagnostic testing!!

L&M is absolutely correct, there is no reason in the world to open that can of worms!! The only way to do it properly is from the bottom up. You can buy that pump at Walmart or marine parts store, hell I bought mine at NaPa, they carry a lot of marine products, screw the pump on the bottle thread the the hose in to the bottom hole and pump till she's flowing out, put the top plug first than the lower plug and your good to go!!

I just bought two klincher connector from the marine general. 95 Dorothy street Buffalo, NY 14206 716-821-5304

I started out buying the cabelas depth masters the early ones that were like a charcoal color were a mess, that was before I joined this site, matter of fact I was looking to upgrade the drags because if you didn't back the drags off and strip line off the reels were like on lock down mode, and cost me many eyes till I got smarter than the reel that doesn't take much, so every time I went to set rods I needed to strip line off, not much just enough to break that sticky drag mode. I joined this site because there was a big discussion on these reels and sending the reels to a dude called Tuna Tom? From this site I found his name and address and number, being layed up from a surgery I sent these reels up to Tuna Tom, he took good care of me I told him no rush, there was a long pause, hello I said yea I'm here just floored by my comment no hurry, never heard that before. I'm not going anywhere soon, and in my mind I was still doing the "fishing" thing, a week or so they came back with a list of all what he did and the drags were smooth as silk, I have an array of different reels now. One of the things he ltold me was to back the brags off all your reels if they don't get used regularly, and I've been doing this ever since?? I doesn't hurt any so I just do it now.

Agree with Metal Head, Henderson harbor is the place to be that time of the year. There's Bill Saiff charters he also has rooms to rent and a restaurant below, across the street is the water and Henchens Marinia which they have cottages to rent also, not exactly a 5star hotel but it gets the job done and includes boat dockage right on the water. Both places are a at the most a 15 minute run to the fishing grounds.

Didn't you ask what a CDI box is and what it did? Captive discharge ignition, they are the brain of depending on how many cylinders the motor has say 4 usually they are paired up to at least two cylinders. They control the spark, and the timing of the spark, usually it's an easy tell because one plug will be wet and black, and if you switch the plugs around that same "cylinders" plug will be wet and the one you switched out is now working, sorry for the confusion. Kinda like the newer cars instead of having a distributer, now each cylinder has its own coil pack, and a computer telling it when to fire, the CDI is the early style computer box that controls the cylinders that the spark plug wires go to say a V4 one CDI box would control 1-3cyl and the other would control 2-4 cyl--: just an example. Power pack/CDI same difference.

What if I listen to country music instead of rock & roll will that make my finder stay on then?? gotta give me credit there right???

CDI - captive discharge ignition, basically it the brain of the cylinders that the plug are attached to. It tells the cylinder when to fire and the amount of electric, like it's your timing advance also, the reason they use more than 1 is not to charge the customers, more but to leave at least 2 or more cylinders working, so your not stranded, even on the smaller 2 stroke kickers have 2 coils for this reason. This is my luck with electrical parts!! I had a Evinrude V4 88spl and a force 15hp kicker left the dock with 6 cylinders working was out in front of Stoney Isl. winds started to pick up and we lost a cylinder on the kicker. So we decided to call it a day. Started the main got up on plane but couldn't keep it on plane, WTF switched the bilge pump on felt like we were heavy!! No water came out. Long story short we lost 2 cylinders on main and 1 on the kicker, in order to have enough power to get behind the break wall at Henderson we needed 3 cylinder 2 on the main 1 on the kicker, we risked going through the cut underpowered as it narrow and you need to be on your game, we made it. It's a hole differant world in the bay. Two hrs later we were at the dock. My dad at the time was in his 70's he was scared, he put his life vest on before the cut already. He congrats me on my skills he thought we'd never make it through the cut, if your not strait at the cut to fit through the hole your up shyts creek. We got a new CDI box at a big marinia up by the TI bridge on the rt 6 side, got back put the new box on and we were back in buisness. There easy to install just mark your wires on the old box so you have something to copy off of. Best of luck HOP, with your pump and hopefully that's your cure!!! PAP

OOHH MAN, those damn CDI boxes can give you a migraine!! One took a partial dump making me guess at a few things, something told me it has to that darn CDI box but being intermittent didn't exactly fit the bill, hooked motor up to the muffs and ran the motor at 3000 rpm you could hear it wasn't nice and smooth and under a load it was way worse, anyway after 5 minutes of a continuous 3000 just shut motor down. Pulled all 4 plugs and the CDI box controlling the plugs that looked darker and not nice lite chocolate color. Changed the CDI box and all's good again. I ended getting the box from a marinea parts place that is right befor T-I Bridge on the left going north on 81, I think it's on the RT "6" side

I use Amsoil ever since I went to Canada with a guy that was the first Amsoil dealer in the area. Richard had old Mercs. 25hp I had a GameFisher/ Sears version of a Force 15hp the old Mercs were 40:1 and mine was 50:1 we ran all those motors hard because we camped on a river system that required all my little 15hp could do to get up these fast water areas. The deal was Amsoil promised in writing that if any of our motors failed due to the oil they would replace the motor with a brand new one of the same model or better. Needless to say they all survived!! Oh I forgot to mention we mixed them all at 100:1 and I still run my kicker 100:1 my kicker is a 84 Evinrude same plugs from year to year. The motors that are oil injection get way better oil to gas consumption than any hand mix. I learned that with my snowmobile!! Like mentioned above oil is a hell of a lot cheaper than pistons and rings, maybe a scored cylinder!!

Last year we went to Hawaii also, that's one thing I regret not doing, on Kona we went to Kona coffee and you could see the charters, they weren't that far of shore, we got wind of a small boat harbor just behind it the sea turtles were in. My daughters got a kick out of the turtles, in the marinea there was a huge shark that came through the cut, as the shark entered the marina the guys would be throwing cast nets and the loaded those nets with whatever those bait fish were. The natives had a name for this shark, and it was huge!! Congrats to your trip and catch!! I loved it there, but wouldn't like to live there!!!

One other thing when I used bags, they actually like stabilize the boat in waves your boat won't bob around like a cork. I miss that part since I went to a kicker. Great post cyn !!!

Well, it sounds good to me, I give those young ladies and men the best round of applause!! I'm no scientist, so I can't say one way or another on the backlash, all I can say is it would be a one the greatest accomplishments in my little world to see LadyO with a blue/green tint to the water again, and the fishing return to the ways I remember it.

Nice going Kevin!!! My dad loved to eat pike, honestly we made the pike and walleye into cubes and made beer batter and deep fried them in the batter I cut the walleye at a angle to tell what's what, everyone thought the "walleye" was delicious along with homemade french fries and bushes baked beans. That my friends is called shyting in tall cotton

I don't know what size motor you have for the main in your boat, my motors bored .30 over which in turn makes it a 355 v.s. A 350 that motor drinks fuel by the gallons, where my 15hp Evinrude I can troll all day on 3 gallons of fuel. Plus like Chas mentions also having another motor. I came from Galloo island to across to Pillar Point on my kicker when I blew my lower unit!!

There was a pic. of Henderson looked high to me kinda like opening day hip boots. Wish I had better info myself. Bringing one of my daughters up over Memorial Day. Friday evening fishing Saturday- Monday eve.

Did you take notice if the starter drive isn't stuck in the flywheel, the motor actually spins the gear out of the teeth on the flywheel if it just just spun up slowly it could be jammed in the flywheel!! This has happened to me once or twice till I took a die grinder and took the rolled over edges off. Plus 22 years in the starter & alternator buisness you would of thought I would have caught this right away, this will also cause a "nothing works" situation. Check it out not saying this is the issue but stranger things do happen on a vessels
