  1. As of Tuesday both launches were still open, you need hip boots to get to the docks, like rubber boots used to hunt in will still give you wet feet.
  2. When we left Tuesday it was still closed, due to road work. The water is up into the parking lot a good 10ft onto the blacktop. We drove down into muskellunge bay there were docks under the water.
  3. Your absolutely correct, for the opener of eye season it was like Ghost Town at the Glen!! I talked to Trudy, owner of BJ bait shop in Dexter and she said this really hurts our business, just little sales on the must have list, no bait, worms for guys pulling crawler harnesses, in the 3 days we were at camp, there was never more than 2-3 vehicles with trailers parked over there, all smaller boats, like 14-16fterx that can be pulled to shore for the other guys to get in. There was 2 boats tied to poles driven into the ground. Open bow boats could pull up to shore and load their partner. Defiantly no way a cuddy boat could do the same, and no way was I going to back in risk blundering my new 4 blade prop
  4. Not to burst your bubble, but Friday and Saturday of this week they are calling for a lot more rain and that's the last thing you guys need!! On the way up to the lake we noticed the water running off the hillsides of the mountains, it's like the water just oozing out of the ground everywhere, the farmers fields just lay with water on top the ground. The ground is so saturated, the water is just running over the top!! I've mentioned this in other posts but I'll say it again. You can not explain to someone else how bad it is, untill you see it for yourself. I myself came up with knowingly Lake'O is under a state of emergency, that itself should be enough to say let's wait awhile, but water-boat what's to worry about?? WELL a state of emergency meas exactly that!! Best of luck to those with both fingers crossed they're lots more in the same shoes. In a very nice restaurant, there was a group of suit and tie dressed men talking about the reasons why they can't open the locks to let water out. With my ear dropping skills they were saying "WE" cannot get the Canadian's to agree with "us" to open the locks at all because Montreal is flooded already and if they agree with the US. To open the locks it would be catastrophic to Montreal, and would not agree to the locks being opened. There was another way to dump water out, but this other way would only lower the water level at less than a inch per week. Either way it seems that the water level is here to stay for a while..
  5. Ya Hoo, Mr. Black I was thinking of you and the folks aboard the Sunken Treasure, I was hoping for a pic. But after seeing what Henchens looked like basically under water I could plainly see why there was no Pics. Best of luck to you Mr. Black, I wish you well the rest of the season. I also give Gene a 2 up to fact that he got you and the other folks on some Lake'O gold, to get anything in this god awful weather conditions to commit is a goal in itself !! I don't see anything being good till this whole mess resides.
  6. Well yea!! Push the spark plug ends down if their not all the on already, if not you can hear or feel a slight pop. Then the plug wire is on correctly
  7. Stay home, there's at least 3ft of water you must wade through to get to the dock, they were in Chaumont bay yesterday putting sand bag around the houses where the put that new launch in before the public launch, out by long point that road that lLake'O washes against and the pond on the other. There they had a grader pushing the debrie off the road, everything from logs to trees to tires you name it, that launch was under water. The only launch I saw useable was at isthmus, in that back eddy they made, there's a cut to get through but I didn't know about depth, it's not that wide. Henchens is under water unless your slipped, and Henderson was up to the height of the parking lot. We drove over to the last marinia, that guy fixed my lower unit 2 years ago, we met up with him and he said we could put in there, but his ramp is steep with lawn between the drop off the ramp and my truck. There's no way to hold the boat back as that's on the steep ramp, with 15ft of wet muddy grass between the wheels of the trailer and the wheels of my truck!! Long story short I envisioned the shyten kabutal in the drink he also said he wouldn't go out now anyway, they rescued 2 boats since the start of eye season. First call they got was a boat had severe hull damage he hit something just under the water, and the water was coming in fast, the second boat had a big branch caught under the boat and also somehow it was lodged between the lower unit and the underside of the boat, the operator raised the lower unit which tore the steel lines off the cylinders to raise or lower the drive unit, now he doesn't have a way to lower the drive into the water. I would have thought they would have lowered themselves, the guy at the marinia said they are a push pull cylinders? Ok that's a problem. There was a man in a green outfit, that wanted to see the damage on the boat with a hole in the hull, he said it's a 5mph speed zone in the bay till your out past Lime Barrel Shoals. He said to us it's best you just keep the boat on the trailer for a few weeks at the least!! So I did, when we came back to camp the water rose another 3" the water was under the boards on the park bench before we had looked and till we got back the water was over the boards and the bench sits a least 3-4" out of level and the boards were under the water. It freaken bad up there, and there's no way to really understand the situation untill you see it first hand!! I wish you locals the best!! You'll need it
  8. Very nice report Bullet, great to hear you used your wisdom to adapt to the situation!! Only a timed veteran walleye angler would have been able to put the pieces to your puzzle together!! I wouldn't think twice to bet my life on the fact that a 1/4oz jig head with either a yellow, or chartreuse green twister tail has taken more eyes than any other single fish pole type methood used to this date!! I have yet to figure out what in Gods name its to represent?? The Erie guys say it represents the May fly larvae? I have been to the western basin and experienced this very epic moment!! But they don't use a that type setup, they use decent size hair jig tipped with a minnow? So where does the jig head twister tail lure fit in? I don't know, but many a 4-500 a week walleyes have been caught across the world using this methood!! Congrats to your day. We went over the Susky twice within the last week and it is ripping downstream and dark chocolate color early noon Tuesday!! PAP.
  9. Yea buddy there's a nice batch of eye, we got to camp Sunday eve, drove up in a mix of snow and rain, woke up to 30*temp and snowing like hell. The BRCG launch was closed, Dexter public launch was open but there was no way I could get others in the boat, the water was raging down over the falls and all the walk area was under 2-3ft of swift moveing water with whole trees flying over the dam. Freaken scary stuff, Monday after noon we drove out to Isthmus, there we could of launched, but it's a put the boat back on the trailer ordeal, Henchens is under water and so is Henderson public launch, so I drove out to the next marinia before the road goes up a little, he fixed my lower unit 2years ago, he said I wouldn't do it, they towed 2 boats in since the walleye season opened, with extensive damage to the hull on one boat, and the other had a large branch caught up in the out drive, something about it or the owner tried to push the branch out under the boat and broke the metal lines on the rams and he had the motor to high to make any headway.. As he's telling us this, here comes a picnic table with a small looked like a barbecue grill on top. Yea there ain't no walleye worth destroying your boat over. Then he told us, no faster than 6mph till we get on the other side of association isle. Those folks are in a world of hurt. From isthmus to long point that road that both side of LakeO they had a just run a grader through to open the road, it was full of rocks and tree branches you name it was there. The water at the Dexter camp ground 3" over night, when we got there the boards on a park bench were above the water, we helped two older guys out of the camp launch this morning and the bench boards were under water this morning. I don't think you can understand the damage UNTILL you see first hand. It's very bad, I heard they were sandbagging parts of Chaumont bay areas now also.
  10. Thanks a lot Finders Keepers, great day lots of action!! Thanks again on the debrie defiantly a something to keep in mide at all time!! Congrats to your day!!! PAP
  11. Thanks for the pics guys, I was hoping for a better day, and the lack of pics, tells me the weather or the debrie was to much to handle. This coming week from what I read and see it might be long john weather but one foot or less after Tuesday's!!
  12. That's a mess for, soon be able to troll up Main Street..
  13. They are a good wagon, I have one I have my 8500 watt generator on it to pull out back where my genny plugs into 220 side of my breaker box. I run my whole house, Christmas lights and all. Great wagon, definitely worth the asking price!!
  14. Glad I like, buddy I F'n love them, they wil kick ass buddy, best part is there ain't on damn walleye in this lake that saw these lures before, that the edge I like to have on O'L marble eye!!. With all my bad luck in the past, these eyes are going to pay dearly this year, thank you Nick for your time and making these lures just about unnoticeable to their original version!! Here mr. Walleye I got so candy for you
  15. This weather is hurting a lot of guy from getting out, I'm getting a lot of pm about different ramps being unusable which only leaves a few left that I know, I is the BRBC launch and the one opposite the river, sucks!!
  16. Yew, that is Freaken high migh have to use the camp ramp that usually sucks because you back out to far and your over the edge, if someone isn't in the boat to off load it cross your finger your axels come with the trailer!!
  17. Thanks guys really appreciate the positive come backs as this was my first attempt at going out on a limb to do something like this!! Pap.
  18. pole setter asked if I would post picks of my lures when I got them back, the lure types were Daves Kaboom, some Bomber long A' and some Yo Zuri lures. The picks do not show the true quality and workmanship that these and Nick deserve, I am astatic with the out come. These color schemes were provided by very well established walleye guys in the eastern basin that I was able to get Nick and the others including myself to come up with the colors and schemes shown on these lures. So here it goes!! If you zoom in it gives you a idea of the colors, but nothing like the sun light. Thanks Nick!!io
  19. LOL! I liked so much I put on a CD
  20. HA, HA, Justin the best eye fishing I ever had in NY. It was 2-3fters, I had a old puke yellow/orange tri-haul, snowing like hell and the eyes were on fire, we needed 1 more for a 3 man ticket when were approached by the U.S. Coast Guard making sure we were all right, they asked if we were catching, and we showed them our catch they were in awe, then they asked if that one more fish was worth it to us, we replied absolutely!! OK fella's just be carefull but I would suggest you wrap it up, with the bildge running and water coming out the hose full time now with waves coming over the bow, we took their advice. We'll catch that one more tomorrow!! Yea right we struggled the rest of the time, later in the week we got our 1 more. That was years ago, I just saw the pics, while I was looking for my circle hooks to make up harnesses. Best of luck to all tomorrow, I'll be on the water come Monday!! PAP!
  21. Most lures I've found run better without the ring on the stick, remove the split ring and go with a #2 duo lock!!! Hooked right on the front loop. Try it you won't be disappointed.
  22. Thanks plan on hitting some of those bays. I won't be in the water till Monday. I only fish during The daytime, but are equipped to fish at night, but like you mentioned that's an accident waiting to happen in my mind. What little there is
  23. Nice fish, I bet they give you a run for your money!! Sounds like fun, maybe next year for me. Thanks for the heads up!! PAP
  24. If you know of a place that sells the bigger spin&glows You could make your own to get yourself out of a pinch, then just PM. Brian for the real deal, he's got em' down to a science, and priced cheaper than you can make them
  25. How about this, you said it made a loud pop sound through the carb, that's a tell a tail sign of timing, if you remove the distributer cap and turn the motor over does the rotor turn while turning the motor over, not that the chain tore!! You could make a jumper wire with alligator clips on put direct power to the coil if she fires up then all those little safety features come into play, again you can bypass the shift interrupter, my uncle had that happen his went south, also if cables are stretched it could be out of adjustment, it must be sitting in the saddle if out of adjustment it won't start because it's in the motor interruption mode which stalls the motor for a split second so you can pull the lever either way, foreward or reverse. There's a measurement that that brass timbal should be, I have a manual I'll look at that, get back to you PAP.
