  2. Got many hours in watching the kids build sand castles in the sand only to have the tide come in and wash it flat, that same thing will happen if they don't put breaker walls and jetties in also. Erie has them in every public launch. Erie is also sandy bottoms lake,
  3. I have 2 stripes in the color brown, that's a pain in the ass!! When I took the boat to get it lettered and some fancy schemes, the guy wanted to put vinyl stripes over the brown, I said no, how I'm kicking myself in the ass, but I only had X amount of $$$ that came into play also. Maybe I'll get it done this fall winter type deal, yours looks awesome vetting!!! Really gives me a kick in shins to get er done!!!
  4. HUH, they made it sound earlier, like no need to phone in just couldn't get off on land?? The river guys could breath a sigh of relief, I guess that changed quick whatever!!!
  5. Yea, I hear ya jk!! I'd probable swallow my chew & fall overboard, if my eye's saw something like that, I saw some big eyes, fishing the western basin of Erie, absolute slobs comming of the spawn, in the early part of the spawn they hit like 1/2 or 3/4oz buck tails tipped with a minnow, this usually goes for a month till they make the transition over to harnesses. We used to go out to turtle creek, fish down past wild wings. That's one hell of a fish!!
  6. Damn it I've been busy getting shyt together I never knew this auction was even going Thanks Brian for your contributions towards that auction!! You know I would have never let that fall for any less!! Thanks Slammin for your generous contribution of the $$$ is there is there an address as to where we could send $$$ that we know would go towards your project?? How about your address? Send me a pm for your address and I'll gladly help out that way!! I'm nothing but in the way so to speak as my lumbago is shot. PAP?
  7. I don't use any other than food savers, for one reason, the others when cold just have to bump against another and it make a hole. You won't notice right away but a month later there's ice crystals on your meat or what ever. The cheaper bags are brittle like. Jmo!! But it happened quite often, it also happens with the Food savers bags if I drop them on the floor. Not just rooting things around in a floor type freezer
  8. Your on the right track, I used the most aggressive buffing compound that 3M makes, and that worked great, I think it's like 1100 grit wet sanding paper, I burned out a Milwaukee sander/buffer with vari-speed on the second trip around the boat. Long story short they wouldn't stand by there guarantee so went to harbor freight and bought 2 for less than the Milwaukee, 7"pads they had all the pads black pads are for aggressive and pink and blue I forget the uses but they work!! After 2 trips around the boat my arms felt like they were going to fall off . After 2 trips with the 3M buffing compound I went 2 trips around the boat with Meguiar's Flagship cleaner and wax it's all in one step, works great. Now every spring and fall I just use the Meguiar's flagship, half the time to a almost new shine. What ever you do, DO NOT USE Polyglow!! It's nothing more than hardwood floor wax and yes it turns yellow after a year or two, then you have a mess on your hands. It needs to be stripped off with with a wicked stripper, you'll need rubber gloves and a well vented area, from the fumes, to me it smells like lacquer thinner. I know of a guy that lives up the street from me, he used this Polyglow on his motor home!! 2 years later it looked like a yellowish white, where it used to be snow white. He ended up taking to a auto motive paint shop, and the ins.co. Wouldn't cover it as it was unprofessional and not the correct product used. So a couple thousands later he had a snow white motor home again. Was told if he used that shyt again don't bring it back!!! Main thing is by doing it right and what you put into it is what you get out of it. Once you get it to where your happy with it, a 1/4 of the time it will take you the following year to bring it back to new with a single coat of Meguiar's Flagship with a buffer and the correct buff pad, and remove with a 100%cotton towel.
  9. Yep proff. T to eliminate that fold a paper towel about an inch wide, then put the towel In the bag about 2" and the towel will absorb the blood. I use this method mostly with jerky brines. I also found that putting a phone book before the vac. makes for easier handling of the bags once loaded.
  10. Les read my post below. If I can do it you can also, no more half gallon milk boxes washed out with fish and water froze all around the fish. I remember as a kid we used to go up on the mountain to get the deer that were skinned, and of course gutted hanging in tall trees, because the old type freezers made food freezer burnt much faster, so my grandfather and uncles hung them in a tree till we needed more. Basically it was our outdoor freezer, the meat was very dark on the outside but we cut that off. That was the best eating venison!! Not deer meat, you could cut it with a fork after it was made. Yep you can call me crazy or what ever, but I won't be starving, should there be a catastrophe or worse!!
  11. I also couldn't live with out my food vac. I'm old school and so is my wife, so guess what my kids are also, they won't eat corn out of the can, because I always blanched it and cut it off the cob, 200 ears all gets vac. Half a beef all gets vac. I think with the vac. Especially with the roasts and Hamburger you can make real flat. We also make pickled red beets because my girls will only eat mine, all my deer meat including the loins and fish fillets gets vac. For us it pays, there's no way in hell we could eat everything in the freezer before it gets freezer burned, I make our own sausage also, plus deer jerky, all for my girls. They have become so used to my way of doing things they don't like the other way, just say school lunch, they do go out for dinner and they like that type of food. I went to culinary school for 3 years and loved it. When I got out I would have had to move into the city for the types of cuisine I was taught and took second place in our class, the guy that beat me, well deserved the recognition he was amazing!! So put that along with my Pennsylvain Dutch background and you have a recipe for good eating. I do all the holidays, my girls insist that I do Thanksgiving, and Chritmas!! And there's where my vacuum sealer comes to be handy again, it doesn't matter what brand or how much $$$ they cost, I get three years out of them. I can say I should buy an industrial one but WOW if that would puke after 3 years I'd sit down and cry.
  12. Yea I knew right away he was a crackerjack!! The Merc dealer out the road from me, Beltzville Manor Marine, those guys are the best, I believe that there's a finger lake guy Jim Albert he's relation somehow, he's good people also, those guys down at the Merc dealer I go to would have told me the truth, not like that other knot head. Hey when my 355 cid is purring at 3200 I'm happier than a clam, you got that right Skipper, I've never been pissed when she works, the other way around you might not like what ya see! LOL
  13. Yes I've heard the same thing but I think that pertains to the automotive industry. Also if your motor was set up for synthetic oils then you can't go back to conventional oils. As long as it says TCW-3 on the jug somewhere your good to go. The only reason that oil is in the gas is to lubricate the crankcase goodies such as the rod bearings ect. That oil gets used only once for a split second. Also the synthetic oils don't have the same properties of regular oils, such as thick when cold and to thin for proper oiling at that point. True synthetic oils stay the same consistencies whether ice cold or hot as hell. We ran synthetic oils in old 15-25hp short shaft Mercs. That were 40:1 we ran them 100:1 in those older motors and never looked back. The Merc. Dealer in Allentown Pa. told us they won't last, those motors are still going today . I have one and my 2 uncles has them, and a guy that owns a scrapyard. Richard Costenbader was the first to have this AmsOil in our area and he did a test on a 40:1 motor mixed the fuel 100:1 and that motor ran all day in the barrel at more than a idle, basically that the motor had to work a little. Saw this with my own eyes. I have a Evinrude 15hp mid 80's I'd say same plugs going on 3 years. Nice light brown color on the ground strap and the electrode was the same. So why would you want to go back to conventional oils??
  14. Nice fish!! Congrats on your outting!!!
  15. Yea buddy!! That's as real looking as it gets, that's a nice size smallie!! If I ever get one over 6#'s it's coming your your way. If all my junk stays together this year my passion would be to get a huge laker on the wall, then a 6+#er smallie than a big LL salmon, I have a 42" northern and a 12&1/2# Walter that's 35 3/4" that day I caught a 9#er that was the biggest eye I ever caught, doesn't Bobby, my uncles neighbor come into the dock with a 10#er, so I released my fish. They had, I'd say 5x5 square wire cages to put your fish in if you didn't want to filet them right away, so my cousin and I go back threw this tight channel that feeds into Beaver Lake where I caught my 9#er and I hook into another monster, get him in the fish box and she appears to be bigger than Bob's fish and it was!! After 20 years of fishing at Lake O' Sullivan she finally gave up 1 mounter eye. Sad part was they didn't have replicas at that time. I don't mean 20 years ago, I mean we were going to that lake for 20 years so that would be 35 years ago was my first fly in lake only, there wasn't and roads to the lake. Those were they days, dad and I, that's no more also .
  16. Extra what is that?? And a metal bracket, not like lowrance that you put a little screw through a 3/8 od. Plastic peice that holds this huge transducer?? Quality is that a English Term?? WOW I can't comprehend all those words in the same statement
  17. I just got in I'll look for them now!! ERRABIT your right I have just the tubes, mine aren't on the boom that I know, that explains why I just have the tubes for the rod holder. Sorry thought I had what you needed?? If I remember right my 2 rod holder fit into that part that tightens or holds the singles holder to the rigger. Sorry my bad.

    Big Boat

I have been in 4-5 footers, and yes they get that big on LakeO, when you go down and can't another boat till you come back up out of the swells, buddy that's a 4fter, I'm not fishing in that shyt I'm heading my ass the hell home. Been there done that. But fishing 4 fters I have a hard time believing that part, I'm not saying it can't be done when your down in a swell and your boards are out of sight that would mean your tow line is cutting through a lot of water, I can't see how it's possible to keep releases on the line?? Really??
  19. Can you send me a pic of the holder itself, I believe I have the older style, send me the pic then I'll locate mine. Is yours adjustable?? Mostly interested on what the bottom appears.
  20. WOW that's a whale!! Best part she's still swimming, waiting to make someone's day!!! She ain't no dumb one They don't get that big hitting mans artificial baits. I would say that fish could only be caught on a live bait rig.

    Big Boat

I was in your shoes 4-5 years ago, I owned a Troller boat 18'er but that boat was built in Ohio intended for Lake Erie she handled up to 3+ footers, but I sat on the bank many a days while the larger boats rumbled out to the lake. My troller was set up for walleyes, riggers rod holders ect. I fell into a deal on a 21ft Sea Ray fisherman, with deep gunnals and being all glass she's heavy plus she's a cuddy, with a 350 Merc. If you can budget $30 G's I would go with a 24frer hard top. There are a lot of modles, out there that are better than others. The seasoned guys on here have more Intel. Then I think about your not going to fish in 5+ fters comfortable anyway so at least with a 24 foot boat will handle that for sure. My Sea Ray handles 4+ footers no problem. So a 24 fter you'll be ahead of the game. Just have a surveyer go over the boat before you buy!! The $300 it cost will pay for itself quicker than you can say BOAT!! Which means Break Out Another Thousand!! I have my boat in Ny all season but I put it on the trailer, and parke it in the campground we are in. No dock fee other than the time I'm there. Which is $10.00 a day. Then I have a 18 ft run about kind of rigged for fishing, and that one doubles as a ski boat also. Hope this helps ya.

WOW that's beautiful!!! What was the length and weight?? Where was this beauty, caught?? Your taxidermist did a great job!! I know I'd have the same smile that you have if I landed a slob of an eye like yours!! Congrats to you, PAP!!!
  23. I have a set of the singles, if you need them, I put doubles on mine have the whole works. They came off the older mag 10's. Send me your address and you can have them, I'll never use them again, just cover the cost of shipping if it's cheap enough don't worry about the cost. One less thing I have to fall over
  24. Thanks and best of luck with your job and most important fishing!! If you guys get on the LL post pics. Please!!!
  25. Yes I agree on the LL I've said time & time again that the LL are the most beautiful looking fish that swims these lakes, but they are not over abundant in LakeO, I want to figure out which lake is best for a mounter size!! I'm a hard core walleye guy but must admit the eye's aren't as beautifully marked as a LL. Maybe you know which lake is best??? If your staying on the eastern end I will make sure we meet up before your back to the Dakota's PAP
