  1. Well it continues to be slow.... I did nothing today prior to the winds picking up. DEC said its been dead all weekend. There are some small kings out in the 200 range, nothing to speak of in close however I did see the screen light up in the 40 range. We cant let this thread go without some results sol. So we broke out the net and went carpin today lol. Now Carp are running lol...
  2. Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone Welp it is hot, humid but a nice breeze came up this afternoon to cool it down...a tenth of a degree lol. Fishing was slow and hot today. The Lake is calm, Lakers and browns and some small skippy kings were caught. Its a matter of finding them not much is out there. A bunch of us might go out tonight so maybe a nice afternoon bite is in store but we really have a mid summer day with no real pattern lol..
  3. Im gonna ive it a go tomorrow at 5am...beautiful day here lots of sun and heat. Fish are being caught in the 40 to 100 fow range. Its nice to have the warm weather back..
  4. The only one getting their limit is this guy lol. Another slow weekend here. Weather was fine, the water cleared up from the blow earlier in the week. The ones that did catch fish boated lakers around 130 fow and an occasional brown. There was some good success in around 40 fow between the second bluff and Oswego. Today was a very slow day. THe water temp (surface) uis 52+ around the pier out to about 30 feet im some spots. Lets see what this week brings lol..
  5. Lol talk about a perfect painting with no subject lol. I went out Tuesday night for awhile. Muddy water all around the chute, state park and west toward the silos, 52 degree temp, slight chop on the water I marked very little fish(browns). I gave it a good hour and felt a camp fire will produce more lol.. This weekend it gets warm and at that point the fish should come in. Just in time for the memorial day weekend..
  6. Shes definitely calming down looks pretty clear wind wise from here. Lets see what happens later tonight
  7. The swans have been nesting at my camp for years. Last year DEC oiled the eggs so they couldnt hatch (swans are an invasive species) This year the swans won lol. 9 chicks all doing fine. They are in a protected area right behind me in the back area but no worries...the male swan will defend to the end. Because they are extremely familiar with me, I can get up close where others dont dare lol...they are big birds and mean for sure lol. Well i was able to get out with a few others Saturday am before the winds picked up. The water was slightly "muddy" and there were some fish near the pier. Most who went out tried for browns early am and then shot out to 100 or so for lakers. All in all Saturday was a slow day. Most who stayed out got a few lakers, a couple of browns, with lots of time on the water. It was not very productive. I gave it an hour or so and threw in the white towel before the winds kicked everyone off. It started to blow around noon yesterday and this is what it looked like about an hour ago...Simple math....7 foot waves, 30 mph+ winds and gusts higher = no fishing lol... It will take till Tuesday to calm this down but as you can see its really gettting stirred up and there is warm water there so hopefully this is what turns it on....
  8. Those are real nice. I went out tonight for an hour or so just to poke around. Water is pretty clear. A few guys went out yesterday and today and came back with some nice lakers out around 90 fow where they have been. It looks like Friday is our best bet. Saturday am should hold on until it picks up big time Saturday night into Sunday night. the good news...I had a good 52 temp right outside the pier and the chute was loaded with fish. Setting up just nicely....
  9. Thats a big bass lol. There are lots of them in there... I spend just as much time in my "sea otter" going for the bass, pans, bullheads and those big "bowfin" nasty looking things.... A lot of times when im done salmon fishing in the am ill go out in the bay and see whats hitting. Even at evening I do them both. Theres fish everywhere in Fair Haven. Theres usually a realistic lag between the Browns and Salmon seasons, sometimes its longer than others. The bay is loaded with stuff during the Summer. Theres some real nice spots wayyyyy back thru the pond in the state park about a half mile in . It zig zags all the way back into Sterling...
  10. Well this is pretty much what happened this weekend lol.... Friday afternoon it was breezy and it finally calmed down around 8pm Saturday am was fine until the lake picked up again, clear water, East winds that shifted last night to West and a good 5 footers this am...For those that went out some did some didnt. Friday was very slow during the day one charter came in with a couple of nice lakers and small brown. Saturday didnt produce much more, Today is a joke lol... Right now small craft advisory right thru Monday then it will take a couple of days for the lake to calm, looks like Wed night at this point. Keep an eye out for mud lol..
  11. There are some nice ones that ive caught in front of the winery. Its been a couple of years since ive tried. Some nice pike at the south end of the bay by the gazebo point.. Its still breezy and cold up here. The lake is fine early am then she perks up by noon. One charter went out today. came back with two small browns and a small laker.. It is going to warm up towards the weekend but conditions will still stay unsettled ... Early am.....
  12. Well for those who went out for browns and came back empty handed dont sweat it, it wasnt the weekend. Lakers were the common for the weekend. Nice size ones. The wind blew around a bit yesterday afternoon. This morning was rainy and very slow. Some came in early with no luck. The lakers were caught at 80 -100 fow on the bottom. Drag it slow and off she goes lol The beginning of the week has unsettled weather which is typical for now. We just need some of that warm water and higher temps to settle in and it should turn on. Welcome to early Spring lol
  13. Hey its a great day out there today, go get em guys and good luck to all...
  14. Yea im in the process of trying to find a starter, pricing is all over the board lol...shes been slippin lately so i figure ill get a replacement. plus i gotta install a new fridge at camp lol..but now they say hi 50's sat and sunday. Some rain Friday then she clears out...
  15. I think shes setting up nice for the weekend. winds should die down today
  16. Yea you can get in and out of there sometimes you just gotta duck under the overpass lol. Its common for 14 17 footers to go thru there. today was cold and windy it is stirring, weather says Thursday it calms..Typical spring lol
  17. Lol seems like a lot of people were doing their shakedown cruises lol.It just needs to get a little warmer. the good news is these little fronts do stir it up. Lets see what this week does
  18. Today was still a little bumpy so I opted out for some yard work lol but for those that did go fishing was good toward the second bluff and just east of the silos. Most that came back were small within the 5lb limit, planers and spoons not much on the riggers...It did stir it up nice it just needs to get a little warmer...Tomorrow afternoon ill give it a go....
  19. Yea it blew pretty good today. it should calm down this evening. tomorrow might be the morning..It should be mixing up pretty good lol.
  20. Well today wasnt the day to take off to fish anyway lol. It was stirring pretty good. but it looks like tomorrow might be really good shes supposed to settle down then pop back up Friday. Stir up that water lol... http://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-76.71418&lat=43.34798#.Vxgt7XomrDY
  21. Well it was a beautiful night tonight . I took my shake down run for about an hour . Fish were stacked around the pier as they usually do toward evening. weather shifts tonight and tomorrow lets see if it stirs the water back.
  22. The crappie fishing has been bang on this year. Particularly at the south end of the bay. As far as Browns the guys that did go out yesterday and today came back with 4-8 lb with an occasional 10er.....standard hardware applied lol...but this week should be fine. Its warming so thats good.. Thats pretty interesting about the park. Well I made it thru "watergate" I guess I can deal with "paygate" lol. A lot of similarities there, Heck I remember in the old days when the gate entrance was right at the drumlins camp section. By the time the kid got up from the shed chair you would be well past his ass towards the water. It was up to ernie the park manager to chase people down lol... It is a great launch site, accomodates all size boats. But the public dock by LSI is good now, the public launch on king rd off west bay is fine. I think the water level is high enough you could even put a nice boat in the west barrier bar launch site. decent parking there too..any boats 21ft and under could utilize those options
  23. Where is the pay meter located. right at the gate....
  24. Thats awesome..It looked like the wind was finally slowing down. I sure that fish gave yo a tug lol...Go get another one today lol... Looks like a great weekend ahead so for anyone going out good luck. Lake had a nice chop last night should be good to go..
  25. Yea bullies are awesome this time of year. I leave lines out all night lol. Well my subfloor at camp is in so tomorrow I uncover the boat and get her ready. good luck everyone should be a nice weekend....
