Yup I got it....your all set... Boy the water level came up quick. I would say almost a good foot plus in the last week or so. It poured yesterday and when I went out to map out an antenna mount it came up a good 3 more inches.... We got good water levels now....quite Monday nobody went out. Tomorrow night should be good

Ohhh no lol, that right there is what we call a "goose remover". Her job is to keep them in the water and not on shore lol.... I actually take her in my smaller boat, she loves it...

Yea we ran into the same bait patterns...Clumps of them right on the bottom, one after the other. We still found them when we were at 170 -190 but thats where we marked the fish suspended at 100. Once we dropped one ball down to 125 thats all she needed then we started workin lol...I agree on the single hooks however I am prone to put my stingers on lol. You just need to really keep that hook set is all. Im sure this breeze and system will move the cotton and algae back onto shore. SCA until tuesday morning.... good day for panfishing...

thanks. Dont feel bad everyone has those humbling days. Heck I cant count the times Ive had boats around me pulling them in and im shootin blanks lol.... Look at it this way. You didnt loose the war you just lost a battle....There was alot of junk out there. This front approaching now should move that out. If I cant get out in the morning Im going to give it a shot tomorrow night.

Glad to oblige lol. And thanks to everyone else chipping in with their reports as well. The more information we have, the more things will make sense as we move into the season. I did find out channel 05 is back up so thats pretty much the one I plan on using from now on.

Thanks now that I know the layout of that boat, the next time I go I can setup the cam better. I though I was going to drop it in the water a couple of times lol... By the end of the day there were some browns taken in by the chute so they are still there. One or two lakers as well. Salmon seem to be lying real deep so set your riggers down. I probably would have went brown fishing if there wasnt all that cotton on the surface... Tomorrow we shall see

Boy talk about Summer like lol. Man it was hot. Me and my buddy Capt n Bill went out last night after it cooled down. We worked around 100 feet and picked up a nice steelhead 50 feet down. There is a ton of cotton out there and with a flat lake you have to make sure your stuff gets down without the hook getting contaminated. This morning we switched boats and headed out again. This time we went deeper and fished 170 to 190 feet. Straight out the pier working a little east. We ended up getting three kings. Two small ones and a big boy at 26 lbs (38 inches). Now tonight the front moves in so tomorrow re-draw the chalkboard. But right not we left the fish at 170 to 200. Get deep 125, use your spoons, keep it simple...... Tomorrow should be fish-able....

Ive been using 68 this year. Usually its 05 but apparently there was or still is a problem with excessive static cutting in and out. It was like that in early April. Im not sure if there still is a problem. 68 has always been a popular channel but I like 05 too..

And it should be perfect fishing weather. Hopefully we can pull some of those bad boys out of the water lol

The nice thing about fair haven is that there are excellent landmarks for navigation and depth wise its all pretty consistent. Once you go thru the chute...ie (for those that dont know thats what we call the pier") which is direct N on a compass you can go either left , right or straight out. If you go left as you head toward sodus you would pass a green camp about a good mile past the blind sodus point which is about a 1/4 mile from the chute. If you went right you would head pass the bluff system ie First bluff (fair haven state park), second bluff (which is very visiable on a clear day 3 miles plus off shore), third bluff which is much smaller and finally moon beach which is a major landmark in that direction. If you go past moon beach then your getting toward the Oswego area. Clearly you will see the stacks and smoke of Oswego from the chute and points north from Fair haven. That actually is a very good landmark for navigation purposes. As your fishing take a look at the shoreline. Once you head north utilize the bluffs and the stacks for verification. That of course assumes it is clear. If you are ever out in the fair haven area and fog rolls in or something like that. SImply head south on your compass and you will hit shoreline within a close distance of the chute. Depth wise its 15 right out of the chute. As you head North if you get parallel with the Oswego stacks your in 100 feet of water. If you get the stacks to be at 5pm(as you head north) you would be in about 200 feet of water. Ive actually used this theory quite well over the years as verification over electronics. The depth levels will remain consistent once your out deep. Again its more of where are you in relationship to the chute.... At this point its pretty much head north for kings. Start at 100 feet and work out to 250

Well tonights report is nothing but early bass and panfish lol.. I dont remember the last memorial day weekend where we could not get out and fish but this ones in the books. Finally the wind died this afternoon and a few of us went out. Browns are still in, I spent an hour around the pier and nothing happened but the mudd water and fish are there. One of the charters slipped out for abit and came back with three medium browns. water temp was in the 50's right outside the pier. We did however have our fun in the bay and slammed a few bass holes we know of. Some pike turned up by doud island area too... Lets see what the next few days brings condition wise. Im going to start converting to salmon this week. I typically start around 120 and work my way out.... But hey you didnt miss much at all this weekend..Hope eveyone had a fun time anyway...

Well basically its windblown lol. That lake has been unfishable for the past two days. The good news is there is a nice mud line ready and waiting. As of an hour ago she was still blowing heavy, gusts up in the 20's. Perfect weekend to fly a flag thats or sure lol. But the sun has been out, its just been very windy. Tomorrow morning should be perfect with mixed up water and 1-2's! Lets go get em....

As of right now were just waiting for this front to pass thru tonight. Heres where we are at.. This front is going to smack thru tonight, waves will build and then subside by tomorrow night. So basically for everyone arriving and fishing Saturday you should have some nice fishing conditions because the heavy winds are coming from the north and NW... She should be mixed up just fine for us. Today were cleaning and prepping the boat. were going to give it a shot tomorrow morning if we can get out. I will post something from the marina office once we get a beat on it... Looks like a typical memorial day weekend (dont forget the flags lol) We might get a nice suprise with the browns....\\ I like this stirrup...

Well its mixing and its going to really mix up tomorrow lol..I would rather have it doing this than being stagnant and hot..too early for that lol.. Hopefully its a successful holiday weekend for everyone who fishes. I dont see us getting those in close kings this year. I think that had to do with last winters no show.... Well I do work nights lol..When I decide too...lol. Ive owned MPD concentrate for 22 years now. I think I am going to give it a shot after this front passes thru, see what we got...

If you can run a board across and above the doors with enough height to open them, you should be ok. Then get yourself 6 foot booms and mount the riggers with a swivel base. The trick is mounting the stacks properly. some boats like mine have a curve so it needs to be calibrated correctly so it holds tight and secure...keep in mind alot of pressure will go on when your running multiple riggers.(in the photo below you can see the black stacks (ionized metal at the right angle bolted in) My issue was the outboard, particularly lifting it out of water. Yours is the hatchet openings (from what I saw in the pick). Ive had the same board for 20 years now. I am actually replacing it sometime this year but its still solid...Its some piece of ash I bought from a lumber yard. Dont worry about the board being too high, just measure the clearance of the hatchets and see what you come up with.... If your going to use downriggers you would want some sort of board for that. If its too high as I described then put hinges on each end and a center stack where you could simply latch it up while fishing.... You definitely have a tricky senario here...

There are two things I find interesting about this years lakers First off the ones brought in are big in avg. I would say 10 lbs is small for whats come in. The other thing is this year many have found them on top say 50 feet and up as opposed to the standard "mud chicken" lol. And they are hitting high speed (compared to standard) riggs for salmon. Someone did mention that this is a new strain of lakers. They react more like a salmonoid....keep in mind the lake trout really are a member of the char family..... But for me i always troll very very slow and put the ball right at the bottom. Ive had great luck with nk28's A green/black with red eye version has really worked well.....Maybe 10 feet back.. They seem to come and go over the years. I think this was the last one I bagged about 4 years ago...But this year they are back,.... But again...it looks like this years group feeds on top too....But if its the standard on the bottom lake trout, slow and easy right on the bottom is the best presentation imo...

I guess the term no rhyme no reason applies lol. It seems there are fish in that 100 to 200 range. some are deep around 100 but people are getting fish on top too. Today was slow. Only one charter went out and came back with three small kings. Yesterday a couple of steelies up top. The water in close is clear however now we have a system coming in and cooling things down for the weekend. Its going to stir it up again so I guess its time to redraw the chalkboard if you will. It starts wednesday and passes thru Thursday night I totally shifted gears today. I went muskrat fishing. Ever done it?? lol. Its very precise, very skilled and ill tell ya what. When the muskrats are hittin theres nothin better than a fight with a mean ole musky.....(not to be confused with the muskellunge lol)
