Sorry Sweep, I misread, thought you had hydraulic. Good suggestion on the octopus drive. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Get a stand alone AP if you troll with big motor or tied to a kicker. You have hydraulic steering so your install isn’t that big of a deal. If you have an Lowrance HDS depth finder already you could go with a Lowrance AP. If not, your investment just doubled. Sucks they force you to have one just to use it. I personally like Raymarine AP. EVO model. It can be standalone or tied to an MFD. however your not locked into buying a depth finder to use it. If you bass fish or would use an electric trolling motor on the bow for other reasons than just trolling for trout and salmon go that route as suggested. If not, I wouldn’t invest the money in one. Downsides are cost, extra weight, batteries, rough conditions etc. hope it helps. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Yes on the R value for closed cell foam. It can be as high as 5-6 R value per inch. Especially good surrounding a live well to keep cold. Don’t go with open cell foam. Dangerous for marine applications. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I’m with Hank. Doubt it could be from the wood they used back in the day but I did have some on mine when I redid my transom. First thing I would check before you do anything is put a meter on it to see if you have any stray current running through your aluminum. Neg to the neg side of the battery while touching parts of your boat. Turn on various electrical components to see if you have an increase in voltage. Sometimes you’ll find people put a light on and run the negative side as ground to the boat and positive to the battery. You turn on the light and all of a sudden have 12volts running through your aluminum. You just never know till you test. Or like Hank mentioned, keeping your boar in a slip with the boat next to you giving off stray current. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Josh, you might need an external gps unit to work for that specific unit. Take a look in the manual to see it’s capabilities. It should tell you there if that’s the case. I’m guessing. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
