So we started at 60-80 down having 46 at 80. When we came in around the 150 depth we found that 46 degrees turned to 53 degrees. We headed back out and when the 80 ft down ball hit 49 degrees all hell broke loose. Thanks Bill, not too many lakers (Slimers) pushing 20lbs have hit my floor. One long reel on 400 copper. We needed her back in May on Seneca...... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Cool video Danne, what style dipsey do you prefer and size? Just wondering if you use chinook or Lure Jensen or another type. Do you use wire or braid? Sorry for all the questions. I’ve lost quite a few rigs with chinooks recently due to the edge they have. Might try a snubber off the back to protect leader maybe. Just wondering. Thanks. Here’s fresh off the press that works 100%. Use 15lb test troll for an hour down 100feet, have a buddy start a video, reel up placing the line between your teeth while grinding and pulling line. Send us video for confirmation. At least that’s what I heard.......[emoji102] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Seems to be the direction I might head if I have one iotta of an issue with mine. I’m just not a big fan of the lever to let the ball down. Afraid of accidentally hitting it with a net or something. Or am I missing something. Sorry, not to hijack thread. Hope you find what the issue was causing the damage. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I’m surprised someone has come up with an invention that is a currently made product. I know the line has been made but no longer. Seems a huge opportunity for someone to come up with something. Any one ever try a twill tip with a downrigger line using mono? They seem to scrape them off with wire on the dispsy rods. I know of all the other so called tricks out there, Velcro on a ruler, screw driver rubbing the line, 40-50lb mono. Guess I’m looking for that button you push and they get electrocuted of the line lol. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Could be pump failure. Could be switch or wiring. Best to check to see if you have power at the pump. Be careful of sparks when testing down there. Use an ohm meter to check 12v. If you have power there and pump is bad most of the time it’s not a big deal to replace. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I’ve noticed when trolling at 2.5-2.7 with 12lb sharks that I’m typically seeing a 10-13ft difference down 75-90 ft with using my x4d I’d bet your pushing 15-20ft difference with 10lbers if going past 75ft with that speed at the ball. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Bike, try to get the info from lake bound. He’s about the most knowledgeable with what’s working on Seneca. Fat Nancy’s has a lot of stuff that may lead you to be too rigid for Seneca vs LO. Hes one of those when he speaks I listen types. Good luck if you get back out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Do it. Nothing’s changed regarding copper, may have to clean it a few more times but they still work. Buddy and I were on Cayuga a few weeks ago and I pulled out the twin for old times sake and had a ball. Caught weeds but was still fun. Keep Copper Alive! So you could do it but to your point the drag piece would be come the problem especially when you connect to a 10+lber. You would find yourself either pulling it all in by hand and laying the copper on the floor or both hands trying to reel it in while controling the tension on the drag. If you had another person trying to reel it while you pulled it in by hand might work but the position of a down rigger on the back of the boat with someone handling the copper isn’t comfortable. Some have modified a downrigger to do what your saying with a lighter spongier boom so it takes away the stiffness. You would just have to play around with it.
