  1. Ultimately when the lake properties decrease in value, are sold at well below the current assessments, the towns that relied on that income for stability will redesign their withholdings to make up for the loss. Guess where that will come from...... Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

  10. Shorter seasons are definitely tough if work won’t let you go. One buck would definitely help my area allowing the yearlings to have a chance. There is some great results in other states having either a two period gun or shorter season. Allows for deer not to leave the country and you see a lot of activity during it because of the number being out in that small window. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Wish I was smarter in my younger years.., Tow Missile booms put a hurtin on me. You just don’t realize it until it’s done too late. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. There is that way to look at...... then again, if you were told crime rates, taxes, and unemployment are going to go up.... deal with it..... would you sit back and let it run its course? Or is it the thinking there’s no man made control of lake levels......some how we have to get on the same page. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Yep lots of changes Les. Last time I remember the lakes being closed was in 93. Almost dropped my baby on the coast guard ramp 1st time launching. Went back to Kells Marine and said give me the bunk trailer lol [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  15. I’m somewhat with you Gator regarding the flooding that someone is going to get the short end of the stick. The part that I’m struggling with as probably most is the flooding is too late, I’ve been wondering about the months prior to. I think Gambler keeps asking the question this early fall and flows but no one has answered him. I even think it was on here in late 2016 that some predicted Ontario was not at a good level but flows to release her were not at the levels until it was too late. I’d really like to chart precipitation, lake levels, against flows. You would have to admit that if I find flows not at max early on when this tsunami was on its way that someone should accountable right? Especially if they communicate too bad...... your property is not our priority? Man that’s just a tough pill for anyone to be forced to swallow. If someone had that information by the way I’d love to see it. Precipitation, by month, against actual flows by month (LO), coming in and going out, against actual lake levels by month (LO). 16. Well after getting completely drenched from last nights sit, thinking this was to be the day me big was going to sneak out..... I spent the morning having to take apart everything to clean. I’m calling it done. Good luck to those that get out the last few days. Rob, great thread this year! As always! Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  17. So that’s the answer, I get it now. Allow the levels to take its course, priorities on making sure shipping lanes have enough water, power plants have enough flow. Anyone else that’s in the path of this direction or in the wake of catastrophe whether it’s a cottage, land, or human life, there just going to have to realize that it was there choice to live, build etc on the shores of a potential flood plain. Nothing more will be done to protect that. It is what it is. Everyone now just go back to your flooded home and live with it. Mother Nature will determine your faith. That’s basically what’s being preached here. You can keep selling it all you want, I’m not buying it. I’d also be willing to bet you might have a different take if your porch was washed away last night from waves and your insurance wouldn’t cover it....... Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  18. I appreciate the response, but you would have to admit, I would hope at least, that if flows are not at max now, trying to get levels to safer limits this time of year, fully knowing current levels, a failure in the process is more likely to occur especially if all of your eggs are in mother nature’s basket. To me that risk should not be weighed against landowners to take the fall for the failure. Like I said previously, I don’t have skin in this game directly so I’m not the the least an expert, but common sense seems to be lacking if were to treat this as a normal operation that has failed and possibly will fail again with our only excuse at this point is Mother Nature? I can’t seem to recall a disaster that has occurred year after year in such a wide spread impact to the same Individuals due to weather. Just trying to be open minded about it. 19. Maybe there’s another way to look at this, in your mind, what would be the best way to prevent the shoreline flooding from occurring in the event there’s another year of high precipitation? I’ll remind you that it was evident and predicted in the past flooding event before the “precipitation”ever hit. Do you have specific suggestions. Not really looking for any data but am interested in your thoughts. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  20. I don’t live on the lake so I’m not directly impacted, but you can bet we will be at some point through taxes or impending fees, and I’m willing to bet no one will see a reduction in electrical power or transportation fees that are allowing some to gain huge profits from this direction. I feel for those that have lost hundreds and thousands of dollars including their life savings from this irresponsible plan. I call it irresponsible because after it happened once, they let it happen again. From the looks of levels currently it’s going to happen a third time. In a relatively short period of time (4 years) With that said, no one, other than who was in on the decisions being made, would of agreed to this direction fully knowing the risks of flooding as a result just to improve the ecosystem???? Or make it better for the baitfish???? I must of missed that lecture where we needed to flood the lake to help our fisheries......Shouldn’t we then go to all of the local / state governments and request an increase in dams and dikes along rivers and creeks to flood the lakes so we can improve the states fisheries and ecosystem? If this plan is so good then it should work right? This feels like it’s a money grab. Lastly, and just a question, when you say everyone is feeling it from Lake Superior to Montreal, how much is being truly felt from the seasonal rainfall levels vs holding the flows back causing to it backlog. I don’t wish this on my worst enemy but part of me is wanting to get a front row seat if this disaster happens a third time. I’m not trying to argue but I got to tell ya, if there’s no remorse for those that have been impacted or providing ideas and support for changes to makes things better, you might get a different response than what your looking for.
