  1. Congrats on the boat! Hoping to make it up there soon, what a riot that is. Flatfish still the ticket or live bait?

  3. Here's an excerpt of a Lake Erie study of what overfishing
  4. Damn, sorry bud I didn't realize your up in North Country, where perch are considered J9 rapalas..... We could of avoided all of this confusion. See down here in fairy tale land averaging 1lb perch on a better than average day Is not uncommon if your in the gold, but hey what the heck, I'm making it all up right? Oh yea, and only one mans limit, could you imagine if there were two of us, me and you?
  5. Wow King, your pretty dead set on your view point, I get that, and no one is going to change it, I also get that but let me be brutally honest your borderline though of crossing that gentle mans line of calling BS. Making up stories isn't in my wheelhouse so tread lightly.
  6. Seems unreal doesn't it.
  7. I know I'm not retired yet Sk8man lol..... And agree fully to your points, and professional response as well. I guess looking back at the early 90's when it was unlimited throughout the state and the numbers of perch were getting yank out of the fishery someone must of noticed issues were arising. Over harvesting can happen with a rod and reel not just with the use of a net. Just google it. To add with a charter captain, ask what fees they paid to the state, licenses etc, people on board paid licenses etc. That money then goes back to the kitty to support the fishery etc. Let me run down to the diner to tell the owner he owes money to the state for sale of perch from a pirate who caught and sold him 200lbs fillets from a days outing or better yet is this transaction all under the table???? No surprise right?
  8. Bondo they also have sealed rivets where the ends are capped. Use the 5200 , squeeze and your all set.
  9. Well said Les, 2lber, stand up guy to say the least, and I won't mention the experience he has in the finger lakes, just hope I can get away from work to learn more from him.... Hint hint..
  10. definitely a pricier option and may even be a little intimidating if your not use to working with resins and such, but I'll tell ya what a product and glad I went with it. Customer tech support top notch.
  11. Yea, I was going crazy Les thinking to myself what the heck is that guy doing missing all of those hits but your right, he probably had a bass rod with 12lb test and surprised he still caught fish, what I would do with having that stained water. For years when they shut down we either caught a pickerel or pike and thought that must of been the reason, to your point they didn't flinch when that wolf came through. Interesting is right.
  12. Yea, have to agree with Ed, if you have the mount up front and battery system already in with your set up I hear they work really good by just locking the wheel and letting the i pilot steer. If you don't though and have hydraulic steering another option is raymarine ev 100. Less than an electric trolling system set up.
  13. If your talking outboard as the main I've got mine hooked up with an EV-100 and when I want to use the kicker I shut the main down and troll with no issues. Hydraulic pump works like a charm.
  14. Hopefully we don't get a response " DEC mandates a voluntary perch limit". On a serious note, this really needed to happen when we went from no limit to 50 without the sale of this fish be prohibited just like any other protected species in NYS. All the change in the qty regulation did was send the Pirates out with a crew vs by themselves or with just a buddy. Do I think one year can damage a fisheries with high catch rates, absolutely, did this happen on Seneca? I'm not so sure. There was a tremendous impact to that entire fishery this past year, not sure why. We have seen this before with yrs to wait for it to be bountiful again. My point I was going to make is when soliciting change, change the regs for statewide not just Seneca, and change it because it's the right thing to do to protect our fisheries not just because your not catching perch this year. Hopefully we'll get a better response than what was received for our deer mgt program.
  15. I bet a QC techs ears are ringing right about now!
  16. Hooked up, not that this is what you need out of it but thought you would want to know just in case, I've got the same unit and love it. But when I got the auto pilot thinking I could connect the Nema 2000 to it for mapping and control I was caught in a surprise. I needed the HDS model to do that. Everyone said you can until you contact Lowrance when you try and find out in fact it won't connect.
  17. Ok Les, I'll hire ha, 2.79 an hr on Seneca, perch first. I'm in !
  18. Careful John, he just might have some company lol. My suggestion would be to try and leader down, smaller bait, live like tip it with spikes, oh yea, keep moving around with electric trolling, less anchoring. It's def been a tough winter as they are spooky as hell.
  19. BP, that's correct the release will damage the lead, but it's no different than with copper rigs. Still a deadly rig.
  20. Gill your correct, the recessive gene was protected back in the 50's from the base's colonel, allowed the herd to continue the inbreeding. My friends dad worked there, we hunted the igloos and areas like the Q and Loran C. He took a white buck, beautiful coat. Some real monsters have come out of there. Les, you are correct about contamination, huge plume in the ground water, wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole. Hate to think what's made it to the east side of the lake. Chlorinated solvents made its way through the aquifer.
  21. Just a thought, isn't the starter grounded to the block which In turn would ground the hull /boat ? Remember it's not just stray current that causes galvanic corrosion it can be two different metals on the nobility table that can start corroding in water hense why we have zincs on the outboards etc. if your not keeping it in the water or trailering it maybe it's not a worry. I might check it though with an ohm meter to make sure you .6-.7 Just an opinion.
  22. Lol you ain't kidding. Actually that was a clam boat. Here's the fishing boat we used. Little more practical
