  1. Good article. Nope, it's not legal. And I think the article is pointing out deer that were taken through the use of baiting / feeding or the attempt there of. Example, you have a deer feeder for winter months that you keep current with food but let it run out of food come July, which in all tense and purposes is illegal, but it was the right thing to do with a harsh winter and so forth and you just so happen to place a hang on 30 yds from it for opening day of bow and there's no food in it whatsoever you could be in trouble because it was once a baited area. Waterfowl is different in that you have 13 days after it was baited that you can again hunt over that area. Deer regs are different because the premise was salt licks and other food sources could blend in the environment and be a source for deer for a long time. Why the 300ft from the rd? I'm not sure, someone might know. Sorry to ramble but it's helping bide time to go out and snow blow......uggg Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  2. It's all good, no harm no foul. I'm not a biologist so I'm not that knowledgable either but have studied it years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Two different topics I would say Giz, planting food plots for deer and whether it's baiting for hunting or not is a whole other topic, feeding the deer in the winter which this thread was based on is not the same as a food plot topic. One of the main concerns with feeding deer in the winter is food contamination with their own bodily wastes being deposited in what there eating. The post I attached earlier I think describes it. Food plots that were or have been planted previously spread deer out when they feed and cause them to feed naturally. Either case, those plots are under a foot of snow and in most cases still give deer a tough winter, vs a pile of corn etc. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

  6. Sounds good Hawk, thats what I was wondering. Ive got a 6hp 2 stroke now and like you put a 3.5 on the opposite side. Im wanting to go to a 4 stroke with a little more HP. The 8 seems to be the ticket. Last year I redid my transom and realized how low the boat sits when loaded. Might have to check to see if ive got a wet foam syndrome going on with added weight in the boat thats not helping me. Thanks for the info.
  7. That's what I hear Blue, that the single cylinders are ratty. Did you see much of a difference in weight on your boat when you went to the 8? Did you go to the 8 because of the lack of power or the vibration?
  8. Sounds good Les, ill be traveling next week but if things keep going like this weekend looks it wont be long as long as the wind stays calm......... Gets some rest.
  9. age..... its creeping lol, serious question though, with my 2 stroke 6hp evinrude on the back, scared to go to a 4 stroke 8hp or 9.9 due to the weight on the back, rumor has it that the 4 strokes 6hp are less than the 2 strokes, anyone have any experience with a 4 stroke 6hp on the back of a 19 or 20 ft aluminum for trolling?
  10. Thanks Min, I didn't know that there was a place up there. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  11. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7197.html Its tough right, when you see not just the deer but many other animals searching to find viddles in the wintry weather. Some have pointed out the regs, heres a good read on the why nots as well, it seems one of those you have to be thinking longterm of the health of the heard but like I said that doesn't mean much when you see the animals looking like their struggling day to day. I like Eds way of spreading out the deer by plowing things back. Cool pics Ed.
  12. Ok, so I wasn't dreaming........ I think I was the first one..lol And your right, there were some monsters, I had a ball along with that eerie feeling of the open water out near Belherst. It will be cool if we can get out there again.
  13. So 38 yrs ago, or at least I think ( I was young but still remember) walked out on the ice past the now removed light house pier and watched several guys pulling some monster pike out of ice on the north end. Odds are looking pretty good from what Im seeing, especially with mornings like this, we could see this again? Anyone remember that year being out there?
  14. Thanks Rod. I'll send you a for info. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Anyone out there have any leads on good deals for a new bunk style trailer for a 19ft Deep V. Galvanized or Painted. I know there was a lead on venture trailers at Krenzers but wondered if there were any other. Seems to be the odd item when shopping around. Any tips would be much appreciative.
  16. Im not sure about the cooling aspect, but unless technology has dramatically changed you shouldn't be using a synthetic in a breakin period for a new motor or using it in a newer (low hr) motor. Something about not getting the rings to sit like their supposed to. There may be an engine techee that can chime in. Just my humble knowledge.
  17. Your right Les, the soldered hook I think gave it away too. I should of seen that with no rivet. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  18. Yep, those are hard to come by, for the life of me that design with the heart shape at the bottom reminds me of a old Miller spoon, but you may be right Les with the Leather Stocking, if I can dig out some of my oldies Ill see if I can find anything.
  19. Damn........ Nice one Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  20. I bowed out last year on installing one with cable steer. I installed baystar hydraulics but didn't like the 5 turns lock to lock so I ripped it out. Come to find out I could of went with a different helm that is 3.5 turns lock to lock. There sending it to me for free so Im back in the game. Ray marine EV 100 is now 1200.00 with a 100.00 rebate and haven't heard of much negativity with it. There's a bunch of guys on here that went with it last year that I'm sure will chime in. 22. I was under the impression you didn't need the rudder with the ev 100 or is just to improve the performance but will still work? Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

  24. Your correct but like you said it's not worth it. I wouldnt want to create discord with the landowners. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. It's a problem down there. The one thing to me that was a major turn off was the neighbor interference when hunting down there. You can have all the permission in the world but will still have every sheriff / encon waiting at your vehicle because of people calling in saying "they shouldn't be in there". With that grief I gave up. Probably the same people writing a check for their deductible after there deer hit. It seems to me it's a double edge sword. All the residents, I know I shouldn't say all, but many don't want the hunting or deer shot. But complain about the other stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
