I would rather see a hundred small fish eaten the one fish thrown on the shore to rot during the spawning runs

Well I have been working way to much as of late and this is my first day in 15 to hit the water. Got a late start because I need to sleep hit the water at 9am. Little bumpy fished for about 20 min found some bait. And the dipsy rod fires caramel dolphin with a blue green squid... It screemed out 100ft then stopped and came in kinda like a laker till I say day light then bolted again...it was a nice cat fish -who knew- my first out there. Also picked up a nice brown for dinner and a few lakers for good measure. Not a bad few hours on the water, hopefully I can fit in one more trip!

Thank you. I will check it out

Yes its a four stroke, only new to me not new... I can do the oil change with the boat still in the slip. But if I need to change the lower unit gear oil I will have to take the boat out. Is it worth pulling it?
-
So do I just change motor oil? Or motor and gear oil? I don't have a trailer so I have to get the marina to pull my boat out. So what do you guys suggest, or do on your rigs?

I purchased a fenwick rod last year and three weeks ago it broke on a trip. After a week I found all the proof of purchase and info on their web site. Sent them an email with pics and waited a week then called in. It took a bit on the phone they are a busy place but no questions asked 11.50 for proccessing and my 150 dollar rod is replaced and spooled up for a morning fish! Excellent to deal with fast and stood behind their products!

salmon fishing lake ontario from a canoe.

My guess spring and fall at the river mouths would be the most productive. Keep you in close and the fish will be in tight. Suggest a survival suit and a hand held marine radio just to be safe. Good luck -

This spring has been some tough fishing gotten some nice rainbows and a few kings and coho's but nothing consistent. This saturday me and some friends hit the water with high hopes watched the sunrise from the bluezone! It was bumpy that day and my one buddy puked a few times...poor bastard! We fished riggers, dipsy divers, flat lines, copper. Flasher, spin doctors, spoons, and body baits. 10 hours on the water and one little rainbow and the flies were insane! Not a skunk though lol! So yankie trollers post showing lake trout inspired me. Hell if they aren't into the salmon what chance does a green horn have?!?! So a few friends over last night -none fishers- had a few too many beers leading to a late start. On the water at 8 and off the water at 12:30 ... First fish in 65' 20# laker right of the bottom. Then the misses hits a nice laker in 75' around 8#. Then a nice 10# laker in 80'.... Well we fished from 60 to 90 and back a few times went 15 for 17 all lakers and only unfortunate one didn't make it smashed the hooks into his gills and bleed out while I was trying to revive him. 3 in experienced fisherman and boaters with me today a fish every 15 mins only lost two was a blast and insane. Everyone will be remembering this one who was out. Spoons and flash right on bottom slow trolling. A few pics for proof

Have you not seen catch me if you can? Excellent knock knock joke! Lmao

All fresh gas tank was flushed and its new gas was added at the marina
-
Hopefully its a marine engine they paid more then enough for it... Infact they got hosed for sure just trying to stop the bleeding. I will check that out and see if its not a marine engine I'm sure they have a case against this "mechanic"!

I found a diagram for the firing order for a marine 454... What is the difference between standard rotation and reverse rotation? How do I determine which is which?

Works well in the spring when fishing shallow. Put a few browns in my boat I think. Or maybe it just looked cool lol. Definatly not needed but neat to play around with -
When I replace the fule line should I match the size? Or should I bump it up to 3/8 flexable line? It seems way to small?
-
Hi all. This is a problem with my dads boat and I have little info on the exact egine specs. But here it goes the egine is a 454 with a single carb. The boat motor was a new install shortblock by a bum mechanic... The motor starts and runs at idle fine. When you try to get onto plane it revs up but lacks power and has a bit of a surge and sputter to it. I think it is fuel but not sure. From the tank the fuel line is 3/8 into the water sep filtter then the out goes to the carb with a 1/4 hard line.... Why so small, why is it a hard line? The line has bad bends that deffinatly restrict the flow. Also of the carb there is a vacume line that goes back to what looks like a low preasure pump. It there a high presure pump some place. Any help or ideas would be helpful. I say it should be a warrenty item ... But the guy that installed it is usless so I want to give it a go first. Thanks all

Not sure about that unit. But on mine if you go to the menue...sonar options...transduser setup... You should be able to adjust your fequency there. Hope this helps

Today I was down at the boat and warmed up my engines as usual got all my gear together... Same old... Backed the boat out of my slip put it in forward and the main stalled.... First time ever, and wouldn't restart. As I drifted backwards towards the boats that cost more then my house. I was able to drop in the kicker and fire it up. With the help of my neighbours I was able to slip my now 22 foot tiller lol. Thankfully a little trouble shooting solved the problem was a busted gasket on my water sep fillter. Forget the gas saving today the kicker paid for its self and my niece landed a nice little king and a nice rainbow. Her first ever. Turn out to be a nice day
