From the Wikipedia site there are like 5 different families of fresh water bivalves. I've seen lots of smaller pond and creek clams but this one is really too big for one of those. These clams were able to produce up to twelve pearls at once. I ended up giving it to a local school teacher to have the kids do some research and to study the habitat they live in. If it is that species they have a crazy life cycle. They start out as .6 mm and have to attach themselves to a salmonids gills where they live for a year. They then drop off and have to be dropped in a specific sandy bottom to survive. Check it out on Wikipedia. Then again maybe it was just a common one on steroids, BTW, I named it Peyton! sorry Manning! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Great insight Les, I can say after reading feedback on different lines that I tried 15lb. Seaguar Red label 100% floro on my lead cores. I shortened my leaders to 12-15' and I can say my catch rate went up compared to just 30lb big game. They are running pretty shallow and well back and away from the boat thus creating stealth and action by the inline boards. I feel this has made a catch rate difference. I guess experimenting is the key. I took what folks on here have gone with and tried it in my own setup. I haven't had a problem with knots (Palomar) which some floro lines can fail at, but I'll always try something new if someone suggests it and if it catches more fish I'm in! I was out shed hunting today and I was crossing a beaver dam when I found a huge clam shell ( no live clam inside) it is almost 9" across! I took it home and did some research, finding out that it is an endangered species that can live up to 250 years! So here's a couple pictures if anyone knows any more or anyone that studies these I'd like to let them see it, also I'd like to get it aged. It's like the size of a small nerf football. I'd stay North, there were lots of fish from 50' to 300' all around Sheldrake. Usually the south end has small Lakers on the drop off but finding the big silver's down there has been tough in the past, until the water hits 50 degrees. Good luck! Just guessing but the lake is down 4-5' and going out that inlet its only 8-10' in spots so it would be sketchy. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Was that a mag dipsy? That has been my winter Laker go to. 300' out wire rod, spinny with a longer than usual lead. Once in a while I would mark one down 120' and they would usually cooperate. I found a blue UV fly seemed to work best that deep. One Laker we caught Sunday on Cayuga fought like a six pound salmon. Also these fish were super dark orange and one Laker had a big sculpin in its belly. Sure is great getting out this time of year. Maybe I'll try Seneca next... nah I'm going to Cayuga I wanna catch something  Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Huge thanks for fast great service. Sent out three convectors for drag upgrade and a few repairs. They got them fixed upgraded and back to be at a fantastic price and lightning speed! The drags are smooth and I can't wait to get em back in use. http://www.tunasreeltroubles.com/ Thanks Andy! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Launched at 9 am headed North had an awesome day! Instead of solo a friend went along and I was able to run a 6 rod set, two riggers, three lead cores and a mag dipsey. Trolled the west side from 350-150' pockets of fish everywhere. First fish was on the 50' rigger and it slammed the FLT pink alpha alewife, thought for sure it was a silver, nope just a hard fighting 6 lb Laker. We picked our way through many small salmon and two 14" browns, also caught three nice bows in the 22" category. The next highlight came with a 4lb LL that buried an inline board. Ended the day with with a nice two man limit and a grand slam! Hot lures were FLT (anything but green), lol! Not sure why but they didn't want green. The bows came on a no name lure that was black with a little silver tape in the cup and orange/ with an eye on the opposite side. My buddy said that little lure isn't anything he would ever run and he doubted it would catch fish! Ha fun day to experiment! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I agree with Justin, my dog and I were out shed hunting a few years back she was over a knoll in a field and I see her tail tucked and running back to me. She had three yotes in tow, one of them looked just like that dog in the pic. I ran at them yelling two turned tail the biggest one just paused for a second and gave me that really pissed look. After sizing me up he finally turned and loped away looking over his shoulder the whole way. I'll never forget his face. Came to find that the farmer had been dumping calves and these yotes were getting very big. I'd estimate that the big guy was all of 65-70lbs. Black with the light colored legs like the one in the pic. Not many guys believed me when I said how big it was but I've seen lots of them and he was something different. Cool pic, get some traps out n kill it, lol! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Not sure what you would gain by separating the ten color. If you want a certain depth you usually get 5-7' per color out. The inline boards can hold the lead core at any length so you can choose your running depth. A 50 sized reel can hold ten colors and that may be your biggest consideration The size of the reel you get is going to determine how many colors you can run. Another thing I learned about lead core is the leader length, 15' or less of floro (quality, seaguar red) seems to give the lure better action and still remains stealthy. Thanks Les, we have been lucky with the snow amounts. I was very tempted to ice fish this week I had all my stuff in the sled and ready to go just couldn't do it knowing I could troll. We broiled up the salmon with peach mango salsa, fish this time of year are so good! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
