With a heavy heart I must say that my 14yr old dog won't be tracking this year... I am looking to replace her but have not. This rage debate is great reading. I always like to hear opinions and learn about things on this site that you will not find anywhere else. Bow hunters are a different breed, there are many different styles of hunting and hunters. I don't know if many true traditionalists that shoot a rage out of their recurve or longbow, but if you have the latest bow and shoot a rage I wouldn't criticize ya. The season is approaching quickly so practice up and shoot the high angle shots. The best advice I ever got was to wait, wait wait for the best shot if it doesn't happen well he is still alive to hunt again, not wounded or wasted. Good luck guys where are the pics of the big boys everyone is after?? Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Oh that's not the grossest thing that has been on my kitchen table! Actually very clean doe tarsals with an intact bladder with urine. Surgically removed. Killed a few nice bucks by using them. I would say that moldy bread would make me cringe more if I saw it on my table! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

You don't always have to catch a BIG fish to have fun

Noticed a couple of small things, The moon was directly overhead at 1 pm and the Lakers coughed up mostly digested bait, think they ate really early and had a late lunch, lol! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Launched at Taughannock at noon. Headed north, really slow all the way to the boy scout camp so I picked up and cruised North a few miles. Dropped lines about a mile south of Kidders and the bottom in 80-90' was covered with Lakers. Dropped a SD down with a new fly made by Minion (blue UV) BAM, BAM. THANKS MAN! Had a steady pull for about an hour. Dipsy (mag) was slow but managed a few. Ran a rigger on each side with sliders, Orange and gold took multiple small lls, three bows and one huge LL that jumped right at the boat for an easy release:rolleyes: Ended up catching 7 Lakers, dropped 4 more, six salmon, three bows and zero browns. Never ran below 2.8 mostly 3.0-3.2. Riggers were 55 and 70, except when targeting the Lakers in 80' then dropped em till they hit bottom then a few feet up.. with blowback I'm sure I wasn't getting 40-55. Other lures that caught fish were FLT angry alewife green, mixed veggies scorpion size. Another key was the lead on the SD at about 30" tried other shorter leads the fish seemed to be a bit lazy. Nice day to be out solo, off the water by 5 pm. Sorry no pics, released all but a few Lakers that were nice eating size and one 24" bow, yummy!! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I have used it with success on the fingers. Lately the bite has been so good I've gotten lazy and not wanted to clean lures after using it. So for me if the bite is slow I give it a try. I use the smelt scent. Also I am a big believer in fueling the boat after fishing, keep your hands clean or fish slimed n rinsed with lake water. Another technique I use is if a fish coughs up an alewife I keep it to rub on lures... Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Want to try a new location, which lake?

Sounds like you had a great day! I would say that Cayuga has been producing very well over the past few years. As for the browns n bows don't be afraid to venture down the "chute" running 2.8-3.5 GPS sog. Dark colors, orange n gold, smaller' flutter' spoons. Its sometimes more about finding em. Don't worry, the Lakers will hit too at those faster speeds. A wire dipsy setup, 30lb stainless 7 strand with a mag dipsy and your favorite FF combo will sometimes out fish all your other rods. Good luck, stop in for lunch at Kidders landing, hit Omalleys! Nice to dock and walk to the bar great food. The fishing is hot right in front of that area, 150-350 on a North troll. FF with uv blue, white, purple fly. Keep your speed up 2.8-3.2. Mag Dipsy with paddle or SD. 275' back on wire rod if you have that. The silver's are there, spoons on rigger with slider cheater, orange, purple, pink. Shallow to start, 80-150 then slide out deeper for late morning bite. If spoons don't work change em up sometimes the smaller scorpion size is the ticket. http://itoflies.com/products/flies/uv-flies link to the colors that have been hot, blue n purple no see ums. Let us know how you do! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
