Launched at Severne at sunrise, cold and had a steady south wind pushing small white caps. Decided to head North with the waves. Two Lakers in the boat by 7:30 one on FLT king of sting and other on ITO green fly behind froggy SD. Got North of long point and found fish in 190 fow two doubles and the fish kept getting bigger. Big producer of the day was custom FLT paddle with blue ITO fly. Ended up 8 for ten with no silvers. Three biggest fish weighed 24lbs even, Congratulations to Joe n Nick with an awesome 5 fish limit of 24-5. Beauty of a day to be out spring may be here to stay!! I think that the bait you mark out over deep water has a different look to it. Sometimes I think they are smelt, but they are much smaller pods of bait and kind of show up as a horizontal streak.Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

There are very few smelt left in the fingers. Haven't seen a good run in years, just my opinion but I feel we should let em spawn without harassment for a few years... maybe they will make a comeback Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Wow! Nice Les. We were fishing for cats on the Susquehanna in a boat in 18 fow ,fish on and my buddy sets the hook and the lantern goes swimming. pitch black out. my buddy takes his rod and drops his line down and hooks it first try, we still talk about that lucky shot.. I paid him back that same year when he got pissed and threw his 6 iron in a pond I stripped and walked in and got it for him, said you will need that on the next par 3, getting stuff out of bad situation thats what friends are for... May have been some drinking involved in both situations. Anything dropped to the bottom and retrieved quickly... white tube, weighted swim bait, white rooster tail all produced fish. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I think that it is like a shiny new lure that catches a lot of fishermen and not a lot of fish. Keep your tank full of good quality non ethanol gas and use the stabil for your lawn tractor... just Imo.. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Kinda funny last time I went out on Seneca for perch I tried four different spots with two other boats in tow, with them following me, I thought, these guys think I know what I'm doing, ha fooled them... I didn't catch any and I doubt they did.. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Tried an afternoon troll today. Lake was chocolate on the south end from the queen. Temps were 35.5 in main lake and a bit warmer in the canal. The area around the salt plant was pretty void of bait just a small bunch just a bit to the North. Made my way North along west shore nothing. Worked out deep most of the bottom in 300+ fow was covered with bait. Ended by heading back south after the wind picked up out of the North, it pushed the cloudy water in shallow and there were a few fish on the bottom in 170-150 but no takers. So I will call it what it was a SKUNK. nice getting out though. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thats really cool, I always struggle with the when to quit factor and my dog. I always trust her, but without confirming blood its very tough to continue tracking. If we know for sure it's a killing shot I usually go till we can't go anymore. Congratulations on finding him great to be able to respect a buck like that, and give him a home to be admired in. do you think i can launch out of Watkins this sunday?
Nautitroller replied to dremarquis's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
With the wind forecasted for Sat and sat night there shouldn't be much if any ice at the launch. If the wind Sunday is over 10mph out of the North there will be two to three footers. The area around the salt plant looked the best with bait deep but very abundant. The west shore water was crystal clear, stealthy presentation if going shallow, Good luck!
