Thanks guys! The Brown was delicious! Just can't seem to give up on the fishing... Finger lakes tackle purple uv alewife was the hot lure, (think that was the name). I should run more purples but I just seem to fall into my usual favorites... oh water temp was 50.4 that's perfect for spring fishing and fall Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Too warm to hunt, hit the lake this am. Launched at 8:30 south end was void of fish. Hit the middle of the lake 160 fow and headed North. Picked a Laker down 90 on my favorite flt custom flasher fly combo, ( blue ITO fly), first fish I marked. Ended up 3/4 of the way up the lake on the east shore. The last major point was the hot spot found lots of active fish in 130-165fow some scattered bait also. First pass a 5-6lb bow flew out of the water behind the boat, I scrambled to see which line it was on, none were moving, figured it was on lead core but no one home! Next pass yielded a brown and a Laker. Little father North picked another Laker to limit on them. Turned south again and started to clear lines when ten color started pumping with my final bow! Not huge fish but we will eat well at deer camp this weekend! Love Owasco! Hot spoon was FLT purple white guy name?? Pictures attached. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thanks Justin, Les and everyone. Just got back from tracking a buck. Only problem is we found a dead doe. Was not the deer he shot, yotes had it totally eaten. Sheddy found the arrow about 200 yds from hit, no blood trail at all... he thought it was a far back hit. Put in 4.5 hrs into the track Oh well we gave it a heck of a try. As for the brotherhood that is created by LOU the people sharing information on this site are awesome! Getting to meet some of you has been great. It really gives sportsmen a good name when you see the positive effects that come from this site. I am lucky to be a member. Anyone is welcome to call me if they have a questionable hit. Good hunting and fishing! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Went to hnvs to get some fat heads to try some perching I hit some usual spots with only one hit, so I decided to troll. South end bait was stacked out 170' and deeper. Caught a nice 20" LL on a flasher fly down 130'. The screen looked great on east side in 180-220 fow had a 55' rigger and a 130' rigger and an 8 color on board. Bait came up later in the evening. 8 color lead core on a board with a alpha alewife took a big dive! The whole board was gone! After a ten minute fight he in came a 30" Laker. Had a large lamprey on him. Overall fun night as the wind laid down. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thanks, but Seneca beat us today! Went 0 for 6 two fish that we had on were in the 4-5 lb range. Had a nice bow run at me and get off, also a nice salmon right behind boat came off. Had an inline bury and then no one home too... 7 lbs some ounces won the silver fish only FLTA tournament, no Lakers. Tough fishing today but congratulations to the winners! Points total for the year was close like a tie for first! Thanks for letting me join this year guys! great fishing with ya! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Well made it out solo today instead of last weekend. Went 6 for 6 two bows, one dink salmon three small Lakers. Stick on lead core and alpha alewife took bows, at least I know where we will start tomorrow for the FLTA year end silver only tournament. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I am lucky enough to have private land to hunt but I hunt state land a lot during bow season. There are thousands of untouched acres of great hunting land. Get on SLIM (state land interactive map)... find oak groves, you will be in deer. If you need a few good spots pm me. I spend a lot of time scouting, what area/county were you in? The advice you are getting is fantastic! Especially gillt's info...These are veteran hunters with great insight. That situation with a stream bed or steep hills with a valley makes for swirling winds, a mature bucks favorite hangout. Just an example the stream on my land has its own wind current depending on the air temp vs water temp. If the water is warmer on a calm morning the air currents rise off the water creating thermals... and vise versa... all that said wait til the rut and hunt down wind of the best doe bedding area you know. And if possible find the ramping air... Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

My best advice would be to control your own scent as much as possible. Use anti bacterial soaps and scent free sprays. More important though is to learn the wind currents as they apply to the areas you hunt. As a small example an airplane wing has air travelling faster and swirling as it goes over the wing. Hills, depressions, flats temp changes in am and sunset all have an influence on wind currents. I have wind notes for all wind directions in the area I hunt. These notes show patterns of how wind acts on my property. Thus telling me which stand sites to hunt and when not to. Funny thing, some of the best times to hunt some stands is when the wind seems right for the deer. If you find a spot that has what I call ramping air you can get away with just about anything. You can find this spot usually on a ridge that the wind is hitting and ramping over. You can tell by a wind checker, (goes up first) or look at the leaves around you pushing up the branches. Hope this helps, once you have a big buck smell you its most likely over for that spot. Good luck! Ps don't buy into cover scents, they don't work period! a deer can smell way better than we can imagine. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
