Was sitting at a diner today and overheard a guy state he had caught two fish over 70 lbs in Cayuga. I had to ask him how he caught them.. well he tells me and I say you know its illegal to even try to fish for them. He says I know the fine is like $750.! now I'm not being a whistle blower, because I would like to see a controlled catch n release for these ancient creatures! Just like to hear some opinions on the subject. Out West it is a huge draw for people to fish for sturgeon. Why not here? I know trolling the lake I have marked fish much too big to be trout. So what do you think, more license sales could put more money into the fishery.. is there a big enough population for it to be a sport fish? what do ya'll think? Truth being, most everyone I have tracked for are very good shots and very good trackers. We are usually the last ditch effort after all efforts have been made to find the deer. The ones that are tough are the high front shoulder hits or neck hits, in other words they are still alive but leave an incredible blood trail. I track day or night, preferably night, we go slow as possible and I like to have two or three guys max behind trying to confirm blood. We are very persistent and usually end up 400 or more yards beyond last blood finding a dead deer or more blood. A gentleman from Owego is also now tracking with his dog, back a few years ago we found his young nephew's first buck after coyotes had totally eaten it over night, pic attached.. good hunting all hope no one has to call me! Dec has a hotline for reporting Fisher sightings. I have had a pair of them, or more on my land for the past three years they have put a hurting on the squirrel population, kinda cool sitting in a stand and not having Mr red squirrel chattering at you Keep the reports coming... Side note: my 12yr old licensed tracking dog is ready for her first blood trail if anyone needs her! She is getting slower but that's not a bad thing. Les Funny you say that, he caught the fish right before the final weigh in, could have easily lost that ounce if it sat in a cooler or coughed up an alewife. An alewife one of our fish coughed up was over 5" long. My mag spoons I tried did not get touched. The hot spoon was a gold scorpion ( small ) with glow on one side. Go figure like having one more Frito even though you are full. Lol! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Great post... Mike, Nick help this guy out and me too!!! Love Seneca:wub::angry::angry: The two things I may suggest would be longer leads on dipsy, running them farther back, and today on Cayuga it was a mag dipsy bite.. much deeper, I get about 105-110' with my wire rod back 310'. do you use inline boards for your lead cores? also you hit the lull time today for" the bite" oh one more thing no silvers today on Cayuga compared to 6 salmon yesterday... Rolmops I Truly appreciate your service to or country. You have my utmost respect! My son just enlisted into the army, he goes to basic in two weeks, I am very proud of him. When my friend was interviewed for his security clearance he said this about my boy "he is Ted White and Blue ". Now back when he was in fifth grade he was told he could not bring in Mr. Nugents book because it became a distraction to the class, and it created to much debate... I have a degree in political science , I went in and discussed this with the teacher, the book was allowed... if we stop debating politics we stop learning. If we don't consider all possibilities we become closed minded. I agree that this may not be the forum to discuss this topic but this site is full of great outdoors folks, each has their own opinion which is what forums should be about. I hesitated to comment on Obama's speech because of my starch conservativism. But he has learned.. He is a short term pres., his party is not condoning his actions but I give him credit for taking action and protecting our country. The political lines are too far apart, there is only one thing brings them together, war, or to say it more acceptable way, war on terrorism.. oh by the way president Obama also supports natural gas drilling. So go figure he needs more $ to support his Obama care.... what we need to do is keep learning and don't take everything you hear from our media as truth or gospel.... whether its Fox news or CNBC.. just saying..... lets fish! Very nice out there today, that tree picture was cool. Do you think it was a maple? Your day sounded a lot like mine on Cayuga. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Got a late start. On water by ten, probed a few areas looking for big marks, found some but they were tight lipped. Rigger with uv ff with blue ito fly buries. Land a nice 7.5 lb Laker, back in the water, decided Omalleys was a good idea for lunch, so here am at a bar, great food and awesome views. More report to come.
