Here we go Ed....Launched out of Taughannock about 5 am.... gingerly heading northeast trying to keep an eye out for any floating cars or trees...splash down as soon as I could see my #2 swivels....trolled north for quite a bit when I started wondering if I was near any good spots...saw Billy V cruising by then he stopped up ahead a ways.....hmmmmmm....this is a very good sign!!! Maybe if I keep him in sight I will do ok ..... .....have only fished Cayuga once a few years ago so I really didn't have much to go on.....grass was pretty bad...fleas were not at all...never moved a rod till 8:00 am then it was one laker after another for about 45 minutes...about 9 am the wind was getting a little to much to bear fishing solo in the 18 footer...head to the west side for calmer waters... which I found for a little while ....work around the jiggers while the wind kept building...not as much grass at all...steady pick of smaller lakers...hit a nice chubby salmon(dinner last night )by now the wind is absolutely howling and the temps are screwed up from the surface water bouncing off the break walls...fishing tight for browns....still catching a fish or two but presentation is lackluster for any derby contenders...finally gave it up about 2:45pm...took a swim then headed to the launch....average round of pleasure boat launch people that do not have a clue and all the time in the world while plugging up the ramps ..... .good results for the day considering the lack of Cayuga time, weeds and the wind.....wire dipsy never budged... work horse spoon on the rigger...Finger lakes tackle King of sting... It will be good to get back to Lady Seneca where I know the nooks and crannies!!! Congrats Nautitroller, Mikey Bobber and Kade for making it happen on a less than ideal day...

Just found a map...it appears to be at the end of a channel going to the lake...that answers my question.

I fish solo with a 18 footer...is Myers park launch going to be tough to land with a 15 mph northwest wind or do they have some kind of break wall system in place? Thanks, Andy

That's exactly what I was thinking...2.2 to 2.6 gps speed? This morning I was on a south troll and had to bump it up to 3.1 gps to give me 2.2 @ the ball. Also your 65 ft rigger was a bit deep for silver fish. I did well with 52 and 57....they were hitting cheaters off them as well so that tells me 65 would be more down in lakerville. At 240 out your dipsy is also down in lakerville. Try 130 to 170...maybe start at 130 and let a little out once in a while till you find the sweet spot. Stay with your feet of water program zig zagging. Best of luck.....oh by the way...... Lady Seneca can very stingy some days.

Splash down about 6:30am.....then game on...never had a chance to sit down in the first 45 minutes...bows, landlocks and a laker were all over both 52 and 57 ft riggers with sliders. Action slowed way down about 7:30 so I broke out a mag wire dipsy...that only took about 5 minutes to start hammering....A bit later a nice 4lb bow hit the 52 rigger puling a Dream Weaver Super slim Blue Dolphin...Fleas were next to none but the grass on the other hand was plentiful. All fish were released to fight again.

How much is it to launch at Meyers park on Cayuga and if you get there wicked early...like 4 am is there a gate of some kind that does not let you enter?
-
Something has to give it eratic(swimming) action I would think....otherwise it would just flow through the water like a piece of seaweed caught on a rigger cable?!?!?
-
Probably a renter...they do some really stupid stuff....cause they just don't know any better....I watch renters paddle to the middle of the lake in early May.....without PFD's.....they just don't get it....

Splash down about 7:30 am...before I got the third rod out the 40ft rigger popped...nice Laker on the slider(wow...crazy warm water Lakers) Troll a bit more hit another Laker on the 56ft rigger. Head in the shallows to see if I can find a nice fat Brown...46ft rigger fires...thought for sure it was gonna be a Brown......another Laker. Decide to try to shake these Lakers and throttle up the Honda 8 for some Bow action and sure enough 15 minutes later a small bow in the net. Troll a bit farther then a decent 4 pound Bow in the boat. ...Getting kinda damp...head for the lift. All fish lived happily ever after!!! Dream Weaver Super Slim Blue Dolphin down about 55 or so did most of the work today.

Grass and fleas are not unbearable actually... They both have gotten less of a burden lately!

Sounds like the best way to me Zack....Dipsy's would take the fun out of it it seems.
