If you make it down to Seneca put a white with green dot spinny in front of a Big Weenie Seneca ghost and keep your box of ice close by cause your gonna need it....you also cannot go wrong with Mountain dew crush and a Big Weenie Reel Hooked Up fly.....I don't leave home without them...Best of luck....

Got out a bit late..Thermocline back down where it belongs....one rigger at 56 feet the other at 61 with sliders...the 61 foot slider pops and before I could grab the rod the aerial show begins about 8 or 10 feet off the stearn!!! Nice Bow on the slider and back in the drink!!! A bit later the 56 footer pops and air borne again but this time it was a salmon...hmmmm.... perfect size for my brand new grill I have yet to light!!! Quit while I was ahead. The wind and the projects at home made that decision easy.

Thanks Sean...saw ya come through.. Hey Lakertaker...........30lb 7 strand camo color wire. Mono has to much stretch and resistance(blowback if you will)for your diver to be effective at ideal Lake trout depths. (65 to130 feet) Wire cuts through the water like a knife and also has zero stretch for ease of tripping the release when pulling in without a fish on. Some say the wire makes sound while flowing through the water that intern attracts fish!! If I had to choose between riggers or divers for Laker Fishing it would be the wire divers! Be sure to set your drag light as again with no stretch a big fish can be rough on your rig!!!

apb replied to Home wrecker's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Depends what you have behind them I guess...If you have a Sutton go 1.8 if you have a peanut maybe a tad faster...Hey SK8man...what do you think? -

We had about an hour and a half before we had to be back at the house so we figured we would hit our laker honey hole a couple times then pack up. Mag dipsy out 250 and the #1 out 285 both with flasher flys. Wasn't long before the mag started hammering....4 pound or so in the net! Had a miss on the 40 ft rigger with slider.....then turned around and hit the hole again....mag starts throbbing again...take our Time bringing this one in....felt a little bigger...6 or 7 minutes later....in the net.... Headed home...

Hey laker taker if it wasn't for Seth Greene and mostly pulling copper I would have lost his interest a while ago. I kept the old fashioned methods going while I practiced the modern ways by myself. Now I only take him out when I think the bite is hot. I will work him into the slower times when the time is right. Never force or make kids fish. They will turn against it. We used to shoot 3d archery competition...I had to make him finish the course to be in trophy contention....now he wants nothing to do with it.....lesson learned.....oh by the way everything I have learned about modern trolling I have learned from these L.O.U. guys!!! Stay tuned!!!

Just before the rain subsided Peyt and I hopped in the boat for a nice over cast morning of fun! Mag dipsy with flasher fly at 250 and a number 1 out 285 ft also flasher fly. Put a clean spoon on the probe rigger then went to throw something on the other rigger looked up and both dipsy rods were hammering! 2 lakers in the boat. 20 minutes later a nice salmon hit the 35 ft rigger...in the boat....pass our other laker hole and the mag dipsy starts shakin....while pulling that one in the other dipsy fires! Get one in and drop the other behind the boat...my fault...had so much going on he spit the hook on me. Continue with this craziness and the 40 ft rigger pops....aerial show begins then nice bow in the boat...quick pic and get her back in the drink! Little bit later the 35 pops. Told peyt be ready for a nice bow or salmon...net the fish and its a real nice........................LAKER?!?!?! What the.....yes 35 over 250......must have had his sunscreen on!!!.......continue With the same Spread and land 2 more lakers. For the last hour we put all our eggs in one basket hoping for a slam but just couldn't get those browns to hit. Anywho we had a awesome morning!!!

Slow morning after the moonlit night on Seneca!

Actually Ed it was more than 4 country miles!!!!!!!...........I just kept going thinking the bite would start any minute.. The weeds were terrible and I was trying new areas that I know do not hold as many fish as my favorite holes.....tomorrow I will go back to the honey holes and hopefully regain my confidence! -
Trolled a country mile with 2 lakers and a few misses to show for it. Oh we'll somedays you're the windshield and some days your the bug. Weeds, fleas and a bright moon were my excuses.......till I read Erabbits report......hmmmm......nice job Ed!!!

My son and I got up at the crack of dawn knowing the fleas were going to be relentless but hoping the fishing would more than make up for it. Splash down about 6 am.....put two wire dipsies down .... One out 245 and one about 300 both on a 2.5 with flasher flies then put the probe rigger down with a clean spoon about 50 feet. While I was getting Troutman87's torpedo weight on the other rigger one of the wire dipsies started screaming! After a nice long fight we boated a 8lb laker! Trolled a bit more then the other dipsy started hammering.... Another good laker in the net. Brought everything in cleaned it and put it back out. Told my captain "aim for the honey hole Peyton!!!" Right when I had a feeling we were gonna hit another laker......wham .....a wire dipsy started hammering.......gave the rod to Peyton and I no sooner grabbed the wheel when the 55 degree (50 down) probe rigger fired....I set the hook and traded rods with my boy cause I was pretty sure it was a bow and nothing feeds a fishing addiction like a healthy Rainbow tussle!!! We netted the bow after a few aerial moves .... took a quick pic and got her back were she was happy. He grabbed the other rod and reeled in the dipsy laker we had to begin with. Cleaned everything again....trolled toward where we caught the 8 pounder and wham....wire dipsy again throbbing!!! Another one in the net!!! After all that action and flea maintenance we decided it was time for some homemade waffles!!! Off the water by 8:30 am......perfect!!!!
