  5. tried buffing them up with a scotch bright pad, didn't make a difference. i haven't sprayed anything yet. i think i might put the big jon line back on one of the reels, in reverse so the old weathered end is on the spool, and see how it compares to the braid.
  6. worked like a champ had some nice hot venison sausage breakfast burritos. looking forward to anchoring up with the kids and cooking up some burgers and dogs.
  7. well it's done. i haven't tried it in the tracks yet though. i'm a little worried that it's too heavy.. that grill has some weight to it, plus, the weight of the 2 cutting boards. we shall see i guess... anyway, here it is.
  8. eric, try posting it on fishlakewinni.com. also, another good local forum is newenglandhunters.net (need to join that site). good luck with the sale bud.
  9. my thoughts exactly
  10. well i got to test the new line out yesterday. it worked better, definitely an improvement, but they still don't slide down as well as i would like. i have to give it slack, and bounce the rod/line to get it to go down. i think the shower curtain rings might be part of the problem too. they're about 7 or 8 years old and look to have some kind of corrosion/aging to them which does have a bit of a texture to it. i'm going to try a scotch bright pad and see if i can clean them up some, smooth them out a little. i wish i could find some type of hard plastic that i could line the inside of the rings with. that would slide really well i would think. i also had the idea of reversing the original big jon line.. now that it's all be removed, i could wind it back on there in reverse, putting the weathered section on the reel.
  11. Amish Outfitters Redwood Planer Boards W/ Shock Cords like-new pair of amish outfitters redwood boards with shock cords included. bought last season. $175 shipped.
  12. that's an idea, thanks guffins. if the braid i bought doesn't work out, maybe i'll give that a try.
  13. i would've like something brighter in color just so i can see it better, but for $12, wth. i'll give it a try, see how it work, and if it sucks, i'm not out much.
  14. just ordered a spool of this.. 300 yds, 200 lb test, under $12. http://www.ebay.com/itm/232316278322
  15. ^^ that's not a bad price at all. thanks guys.
  16. not the easiest to find in the 150-200 lb test range is it.. spendy too. what about the amish outfitter spectra line? seems like good stuff, and much less expensive.
  17. thanks for the suggestions guys. hadn't heard of the sinker trick before. are you talking about power pro braided fishing line?
