Really never a need to bring rods in- move one or two to the side. The only issues I ever have is when new people are on fish and they slack up at the boat to try to take a look at the fish. If I'm out with people that know what's going on never a problem. You should be able to steer the fish right into the corner you want to net it. Btw 4 riggers 2 wires and a wildcard rod down the chute

Take off the back cover and magnet- very simple. You should be able to see something if there is a major failure. -

Got my motor off of walleyetackle.com- 120 a piece. If you buy a pair of used riggers you might fall into the same issue- for 240 you'll have 2 "brand new" riggers! Lol you should know by now you need to PAY to PLAY!! -

If you're mechanically inclined take off the motor covers. Chances are you have a bearing in the back of the motor that is shot. This causes the motor to have excessive play and pops those breakers. If the bearing is fine just clean out the motor good with some break clean and a wire brush. Worth a shot. Also make sure that your rigger line feeds from the bottom of the reel, not the top. This puts extra strain on the motor also. You're going to need new motors. Get the HD motors- well worth the extra 10-15 bucks. (Same thin happened to me earlier in the season) -

We took a ton of fish in that water today- just gotta find the right stuff they want to eat! Flasher fly and a mag red white and green spoon took our fish today- they didn't touch anything else. -

Quick trip sandy creek 8.23
NickR replied to NickR's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Nope! Didn't put the probe in today lol I was afraid of loosing it. Plus throw temp out of the window unless you're offshore temp doesn't really mean anything right now -
Went out from 6-10 and lady o welcomed us with 4 footers out of the gate. Decided to work for browns and set up a 5 rod spread consisting of 3 cheated riggers and two wires with ff. Set up in 50fow and worked NW to 100 and back. Best screen was in 60-70 with good bait all day. Took two small browns and a 24# king. Also missed another brown. Not a horrible day but the rollers beat us up pretty good. Also had a rod snap in half- that was interesting.

Absolutely Unnecessary

I almost flipped **** today on someone out of sandy. I set up east at 100fow- two other boats out, one coming from port the other out deep. The guy comin from port sets up 100' N from me and decides to cut me off. I don't understand why people do that- there millions of gallons of water to fish- get off my ass!! -

Fished out of temp today and managed 3-3 with a 22,18 and a 4# steel The two kings came down 100 and 115 over 190fow Steel came out deep in 310 70 down. Temp is still LOW as we barely broke 60* a few times. Didn't bother trying to get to temp as we were fishing hooks and bait all day. 70' down seemed to be the sweet spot for hooks, just couldn't get anything going. Oh well. Got a report today from the king of sandy and he faired well in 130' fishing the lower column. LOL
