Had a few days off so I decided that I would get out and see if I could get into some fish. Had to work hard for our bites but we managed 7/6 broke the pier heads at around 5:45 and motored out to 160 fow and set up on a north troll temp was 52 down 60 and slowly decreased as we got deeper. Had some nice marks and bait in 220-240 so we turned east and worked that depth. At this point temp was 48.5 down 62ft. Not Long after our turn the stacked rod on my probe rigger starts screaming out managed to land nice teenaged king. Got the rigger reset and about 15 minutes later the same rod fires and it's a small king 5-7 lbs that started jumping like a steelie landed that and worked a little longer taking 4 more fish ( 2 lakers a nice very acrobatic steelie and a shaker king) off riggers with spoond and 6 color core with a Wonder bread spoon. Dipsy were quiet all day so I took off the flasher fly and put on a spoon, and not long later that gets pounded with and we brought a big Ole laker fished till 10:30 ended 7-9. Orange spoons did all damage. 7/8 headed out around 6 and worked 220-240 fow again Temps 48 down 60. Ran 2 flasher fly and 2 stacked riggers . Got bounced around good from the straight north wind which turned NE for a bit but went 2 for 3 one 2 y/o king and a steelie. Screens weren't as good as they were the trip before that and we were tired of the waves so we headed in for lunch. 7/9 headed out a little after 6 decided we would fish a little shallower due to weak screens past 200 fow the day before. Fished mainly 140-170fow out in front of the mouth. High rigger takes a shot and starts rippen line from a nice king. After battling it to 30 ft from the boat it pops off ughhhhhh ! Trolled another 2 hrs. With a decent screen but didnt move a rod. Then all the sudden the same rod starts screaming out again ! Landed a nice fat king (don't have scale so not sure of exact weight). Trolled a while longer until the rain picked up so we pointed it towards port and picked up a nice steelie and small king on the way in . Ended 3/4. All in all it is still tough out there but we managed a few nice fish plus it's always good to be fishing !!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I useally go 15 ft apart just incase currents and waves move the boat around have your rods angled slightly apart so the line swings away from the other line during a strike and you shouldn't have a problem Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Got the boat all rigged finally and got out with a couple buddies and man its nice to finally fish on my own boat ! Just wish I had a little better luck. Over the past 2 days we covered alot of water looking for kings with little success from 80 all the way to 350 in search mode both days best temp was in the top 50 over 350 we managed a handful of Lakers and only hooked two kings. both kings were hooked on 6/18 in front of the port in 105 fow one on a 140 dipsy the other on a 45 rigger. only managed to land one of them. Was wondering if any of you had any better luck on kings this past weekend out there? Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

So I finally got the boat rigged and in the water yesterday for a shakedown everything is great except my Downrigger balls did not appear on the humminbird. The unit is an 859 ci combo. We marked fish and bait but I never saw the Downrigger balls. Should I adjust my transducer a touch or should I adjust a certain setting on the unit. As of now the unit is on factory defaults except I did adjust the sensitivity a bit. Any input would be appreciated, thanks. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

My previous job used to be a archery technician, and I also bow fish a decent amount, so what I will recommend is that your buddy look on craigslist for an older bow probably 40-50 lbs draw. Anything more he will be blowing up arrows on rocks in shallower water. then have him make arrangements with the seller to have a certified tech look over the bow before purchase to make sure the bow is SAFE and functional. I have had a lot of customers bring me bows they have bought cheap that had limb problems or needed more maintenance then what they were worth. Bow fishing will beat the snot out of your bow so no need for anything fancy or expensive. Then get a decent retriever I like the AMS kit they sell at gander mtn. or field and stream. its like 150 but you get 2 arrows, retriever, Dacron line, arrow rest, safety nocks, and replacement tips for your arrows.

Great minds think alike !

I would recommend you run the scotty power grip stacker releases they work great and you can tell if your dragging a skipper a lot easier then the cannon releases. you also wouldn't have to worrie about your one set of weights not having a rear eyelet

After some lonely thoughts on the water and seeing some very enticing pictures I have decided that im going to start "pulling meat" ........ Soo I ask all you meat pullers what are some bait heads and rotators you guys find success with on Lake O brands, color patterns etc. that you recommend I start with before I blow a bunch of money on things that don't work as well as others. Not looking for all your secrets, just some helpful advice to get me started, thanks.
