Im out of Wilson in a 16 foot boat and if I dont like the way the lake looks I make the 15 minute drive to the Niagara river and based on the time of year I can catch anything. In June small mouth bass are plentiful and the odd lake trout is not out of the question on the Niagara bar. Also the drop off at Fort Niagara is a prime King Salmon location. The river is well protected from the wind and waves. If all else fails lake Erie is about 45 minutes away. As for a salmon bite, its less than 2 miles to the salmon grounds out of the piers. If you dont like Wilson then Olcott is six miles East. If you book a charter and still have more questions about how to set up a smaller boat for the big lake id be more than happy to help you out. Good luck and tight lines.
