  4. For your reading pleasure. If you fish these lakes, consider being part of the program - looks like the # of reporting anglers is declining every year. I didn't send much time in the kayak last year, so my reporting #'s were down, hope to fix that this year.... 2022 Can-Hem Angler Diary.pdf

  5. I think it's oversized - Shouldn't they be 4 inches or less upon release back into the lake?
  6. Maybe a weighted vote by county system, similar to Presidential Electoral College ? Try getting the state legislation to approve something like that; they know how it would shift the outcome of the Governors race. Sent from my SM-G981U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Vote Early Vote Often Every Vote Counts !

  11. I registered several homemade trailers 10-15 years ago. Now the state is all about the sale tax money... they want lots of receipts to make sure you paid sales tax when purchasing parts, and then pay it again when you first register....
  12. Got a used Lund Rebel 1650 this spring and been using that. With gas prices, I maybe going back to the kayak
  13. Hit the water this am with the boat - done a bunch of shake-down trips and finally got things dialed in and working... Definitely covered alot more water then I do with the kayak, but do miss the yaking experience. Went just south of the point, then set-up running stick baits and spoons on a 4 and 5 color spread on in-line planers and came back north, weaving from 60 - 120 FOW 1st hit came of the 5 color with a silver sutton west river spoon - 21" salmon took the spoon deep, so it went into the cooler. After that, switched stickbaits to suttons. 3 more salmon landed and released, 1 lost about 50 ft from the boat. Also landed and released a small mouth bass. All salmon were in the area of boy scout camp. Took a break from trolling and jigged lakers for awhile. 1st drop was followed and grabbed as soon as I pulled it off bottom - landed and released 5 lakers, watched lots of chasers. Off the water by 11:30, sun was getting brutal as the wind died down. Was worried about fleas based on other posts, but the lead core did a job repelling them - just a small wad on the topshot / leader. Saw lots of folks drifting what I assume were sawbellies. What's the closest baitshop on the west side that has them ? Sent from my SM-G981U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Is it just the camera angle or is the salmon long and skinny ? Sent from my SM-G981U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. See some of my previous posts - Sheldrake is also a good option for a kayak
  16. But won't the new size / daily limit requirements prevent any future damage to the population ? <<Stirring the pot>>
  17. Still available - Open to trades, anyone got something to swap ?
  18. How about $30 for the box? Shipped to 14424... [emoji846] Sent from my SM-G981U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Early mornings before the sun gets high up, you may also find lakers shallow - like 30 FOW around Sheldrake.
  20. All guns are bad. Hunting is a legal and legitimate use of a gun. Put BS restrictions on hunting so people stop doing it. Without understanding the mechanics of how a gun works, restrict certain features. Place unnecessary taxes on ammo and other gun accessories. Require gun owners to pay exhortation insurance rates to discourage gun ownership. Rinse, lather and repeat. Guns go away. Life is good. Sent from my SM-G981U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. How do those pigs swim ? Bet they fought like a laker. [emoji846] Sent from my SM-G981U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Bump - it's taking up room in my barn, want it gone.
  23. Run it anywhere from 5 feet to as far as 150 feet. It depends on the lure / depth that I'm running; generally, if shallow running I stretch out the lead pretty far, the deeper Igo, the closer to the weight the lure can be.
  24. See some of my previous posts on how I've rigged my yak... IMHO downriggers on kayaks are best if they yak is peddle or motor powered. Trying to paddle and run a downrigger / rod isn't easy. Torpedo divers either clipped on or using a redirig instant downrigger is the way to go. https://www.redirig.com/products Also started using their planer floats, and have had good experiences spreading things out. Lead core is an option; however in my experience I've lost quite a few fish trying to get the slack out of the line when you get a hook-up. Pedal drive helps, because I can maintain forward momentum. I generally use 4 or 6 lb. balls - Running deep with the 6 or 8 lbs, I do notice that there is some resistance on how the yak rides; if swells are big, I'll try to keep the downrigger downwind / downstream so that side rides in the wave through. I run braid on my down rigger, and keep the clutch fairly loose in case I get hung up. As with any down rigger, best to always keep the weight in the water rather then swinging around when you're fighting a fish / setting things up.
  25. Sorry to hear about this. Maxwell hit me up a few weeks ago via private message. A quick google search of the email address and photos they provided showed that it was a scam. (Email/Venmo account was on a few other forums reporting it's a scam). I reported the IM to mods, and it was deleted. Not sure if the account was disabled / deleted or not.
