  1. Willy, I know. Someone told me yesterday why it should be changed in the fall and not in the spring. My garage is attatched to the house and is somewhat insulated. Temp. In there does not go below 0, and i never had anything freeze inside - keep all my bottled water in there. Anyway, hopefully there will be no rust in there. I'll find out in few hours.
  2. Why not fill from top??????
  3. 2008 50hp 2 stroke Mercury, im planning on going out tommorow, if the crazy marine forecast calls off 2 meter waves ;P Anyway, anything to it when changing the oil? remove both plugs, drain..... put the bottom one, fill the top to the top....?
  4. My personal opinion, if your planning on trolling with a small motor, bite the bullet, and get yourself a small gas powered engine. 4-6hp. Forget the electric motor for trolling in the big O. My top of the line terrova with ipilot etc was ok on FLAT lake. As soon as the currents kicked in, or the waves were bigger than half a meter, it was useless. Also, if your main motor fails, forget of getting to the shore on the electric crap. Small gas powered one will get you there
  5. No comments...
  6. Nice, I work for Lowes, will have to look into it, tnx!
  7. What type of a smoker is that?
  8. Did you guys fish? I met three guys there in an aluminum boat.
  9. LOL!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Had a terrova 55/12v, it was ok on small lakes. On the big O with my 16foot aluminum boat I could only get to 2mph-sog. Look for something stronger with more Vs.
  11. How do you read the date code?
  12. LoL.... I have no more questions
  13. NICE!!!! who did this?? I have a Crestliner Kodiak 167, would be interested in doing something like that too!
  14. Is it for beer or for fish?
  15. Just out of curiosity, anybody ever trolled with a pontoon boat on Lake O? how would something like that handle 5 footers? something in 20+ feet size...
  16. Just to be honest, i would stay away from a 30 year old fiberglass boat, unless it was trailered all the time and not kept in the water.
  17. WIsh i had money, i was searching for stuff on ebay and found this, type in this number in the search window - 151025539511 It would probably take a while(long one), but i think this might be a perfect boat platform for big O
  18. Sk8, 60 gallon??? ouch!!! I drive a chevy 2500 quad cab, long box with a 6L V8, costs me 9.40$ to drive it 100km ;P i converted it to run propane and gasoline:) pay 47$ to fill it up:) ..... apparently it is not good for all carburated engines.
  19. Just out of curiosity, what type of fuel do you guys use for your outboards? Read some stuff yesterday about ethanol and how it acts as a "filler" in regular gas etc... Later on did some research to find out that there is many gas stations in Ontario that sell ethanol free gasoline. While buying smokes at my neighbourhood ESSO spoke to the owner of the gas station and agreed that his premium gasoline (91) DOES NOT contain ethanol. I guess i know what i will use from now on in my 50HP 2 stroke Merc. Spoke to guy at Petro Canada gas station, 94octane gas is without ethanol... will continue asking....
  20. I have my ham radio licence issued by the canadian government and I operate everyday on vhf and hf. Most if the time on 2 meters which is slightly lower than the marine frequencies.I'm curious if hams are allowed on the marine part of the spectrum
  21. http://radioworld.ca/m802-p-506.html Marine HF radio, that's what I thought. Vhf is pretty limited to distance due to vertical polatization.I remembered I've seen those before but wasn't sure since I had no interest in it. Most big ships don't use vhf, only in ports.
  22. I preffer eating fish from the big O than rather buying a fish in the store to find a small "made in china" sticker
