  1. Look into battery tender or Goco- wicked smart chargers, both of these are an excellent choice in battery chargers, maintainers.
  2. Hello gentelman, I have recently aquired a simple VHF radio , Standard Horizon GX-1150, it comes with the distress button that can be programmed and used in a case of an emergency. The radio has few wires sticking out at the back to be connected to the GPS/Chartplotter. My GPS, is a Lowrance Elite-5 unit. It has, i believe male plug at the back of the unit for NMEA/Networking. Where would i find a cable that would go in there? I tried looking at Lowrance's web site and failed. There some of these on ebay... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Garmin-010-11425-05-Right-Angle-NMEA-0183-Cable-for-6212-7212-7215-6208-GPSMAP-/180971491032?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item2a22bdced8&vxp=mtr Would that work? besides that it is a right angle? which i don't think would matter. I know it says it is for a Garmin unit, but NMEA is a standard so it should work.... anybody done this before?
  3. Pull a huge FISH behind the boat
  4. Cold water- meaning deeper water obviously? I was catching them at 140-190 fow at 90 feet more or less.
  5. Definitely I will be trying spoons by themselves this year. Do you guys think it was just a coincidence that I was only catching rainbows last year? Were the salmons scared away by my xtra flashy setup? I hit a lot of trout but not a single salmon.
  6. of course I used both of them at the same time silly me
  7. Check out "show me what worked for you" thread on this site by me. It shows what spoon and SD I used. It realky worked wonders. I could guarantee fish with it any time of day.
  8. And for the past year i was using spoons with flashers............ nice So no flashers at all???? With spoons? Just with flies?
  9. LoL
  10. I regulary wonder off to 300+ fow with my 17foot deep v crestliner kodiak. Its about 10 miles off shore. I check the weather before I leave and once boat in water. Most of the time I fish alone. I carry a tiny backpac on my back with a flare gun, handheld flare, fully charged handheld vhf radio with a longer whip. As mentioned earlier, use your head and you will be ok
  11. My kicker is pull start .only I never tried starting my 50 hp by hand. It never failed me
  12. not sure, but i think we had a question like that two weeks ago and everybody gave thumbs up. I have this unit on my fishing boat since last year may and am very happy with it.
  13. Well, actually the only thing that was added to the boat is the kicker. All the stuff in there came like that from the factory. I also removed the second big trolling battery plus I check the weather all the time.
  14. I will take some measurements today. Sk8man, i saw somebody's setup like that with the small tank with the kicker, not too recently, here on the site. Will look for the pictures. Bought some beers, so once i put my 4 year old daughter to bed (single parent here) i will wonder off to the garage and i'll try to figure out the spacing etc... will post pictures soon call me crazy, but im thinking of getting one of those as backup....... http://www.ballisticparts.com/products/batteries/12cell.php check out the size of those!!!!!! amazing!
  15. This is my tight corner, i also would like to install a water separator somewhere. i have a 33AH battery that came from emergency lighting box. I think i will try that once it gets warm to see how it will work starting my main.
  16. Do any of you know how many AMPs a 50hp draws at cranking?
  17. I have 6 marine batteries in my house, 4 were purchased last summer and are a part of my solar array, the two from my boat will go into that and two from the array will go onto my boat. There is plenty batteries in my house:) The problem im having is my boat is only 17 feet, at the rear its about 80 inches wide. On both sides there is boxes with foam. by the transom there is a "bench" where two batteries were located, one for main engine + accessories, other for the trolling motor. Last year my brand new Terrova with GPS got stolen so i removed the trolling battery and stuck my portable gas tank in the spot underneath the "bench". Now, if i install a second battery, i will have two gas tanks on the floor, one for my main, one for the kicker. Yes, i know i can run both engines out of one tank either by purchasing a tank with two attatchments or by doing a 3 way connection, but still that will leave me with a tank outside. Im just trying to make it work:) Thats the reason why i was asking if i can start my main with a motorcycle battery, or a small car battery.
  18. I don't think Chevrolet ever made an engine like that, if it is pre 85, it is going to be an AMC engine, engine that was used in jeeps, gremlins, pacers, cherokees etc. Its one of the best engines out there. Can you take a picture?
  19. 250-4.2L, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
  20. That sounds like straight 6 CHRYSLER/JEEP engine, do you have any pics of it?
  21. what's the displacement?
  22. How big of a battery would I need to restart my 50? Would a motorcycle battery work? If it would I might get one and hook iit up to the kicker and have it charged while trolling? And use it as a backup.
  23. quick question, i have a 50hp outboard and a 6hp kicker on my boat, the 50 starts and charges the battery, can i also hookup the charging circuit from my new 6 to the same battery? Could this damage my 50 and vice versa?
