Just a quick season update for me. Started out with Rob at Southern Ohio Outfitters opening week. First night in the stand had what would have been my biggest buck come in. Big 8 - stopped him and pulled trigger on xbow safety on, rush take it off and shoot. Thought I smoked him. Arrow had a lot off fat on it and not a lot of blood. Take that night no luck and next day no luck. 4 days later he shows back up on cam. Pics below - a little high and back - arrow passed through Shot a nice 8 at my lease on a windy day. Was ticked because the buck showed up on camera at the stand I almost hunted. Fortunately he came by this stand and made a nice 30 yard shot. Hunted Illinois November 7-10th. Booked with an outfitter. Started out more like a DIY hunt. Nothing scouted or stands set. Ran into trespassers which really sucked. They moved us on 4th day into a nice location. I ended up scoring on a nice 8 Sunday evening. My daughter was also successful in Ohio with another booner. She is a great shot and has some incredible luck seeing giant deer. It's been a ton of fun watching her score on some great deer over the years. This pic is my favorite of her deer Good luck to everyone!

My daughter got it done again in Ohio. She had ankle surgery October 16th so we were not sure if she was going to be ready. Took us about 30 mins to get to the blind. Hot settled in about 45 minutes before legal shooting and she decided to take a nap. Saw a doe scoot through a little before 7. Not long after my daughter sees a deer and quickly identifies its a buck. I finally see it and it's a shooter. I stop it and she can't get on him. We dial up the scope and I stopped him again. As she's getting on him I'm thinking she's going to shoot the blind. I reach to try and pull her over to get away from the blind and she shoots. I wasn't ready for the shot and wasn't looking at the deer so I have no clue if she hit him. It's was about 150 yards and we know the gun is dialed in. She said she was on him so she was confident. We wait for the guides to show up before looking. Initially was looking down further than he was because of the golden rod was so high. Our guide Logan found him and he only went 40 yards. She split the heart and clipped a lung. Best hunt of the year!

Agree, don't wait! Came back from an early season hunt in Ohio with one and didn't know it. Fortunately 10 days of doxycycline fixed me up. You might be able to get away with a single dose.
