  1. Well after a few months several mechanics no faults when hooked up to tester. It turns out it was a float inside the fuel modular was bad.

Guys at lime lake marina finnally found it. For some reason it wouldn't act up until it was in the water under load. Would not fault in tank.

  2. The laker fishing is stupid good this year in erie. We have had them bite worm harnesses with regularity this year. This spring we did days with double digit lakers. One day I ran two poles with my five year old. Spoons on the bottom in 30 ft just west of dunkirk. Early May was hot only a few boats out there doing it. We also were able to get rainbows, browns, bass and walleye mixed in. Probably went seven to eight times in may and caught lakers every time no deeper then 40 ft.

  3. 80 to 85 ft of water off brocton shoal. Fish are on the bottom. Alot of people struggled this pass weekend, we figured it out about 11 am, after five hrs in 100 to 120 ft. Break out the spoons with riggers, 10 colors with wieght and wire divers. If you run spoons you'll catch one laker per.

Guys are struggling because they are fishing to high in water column. Just my opinion.

  4. Ok now I am confused. Did the fuel shock treatment while doing it ran boat at 1500 rpm, put it down to trolling speed were boat ussually stalls and it ran great no issues for an hour, so I assumed problem was solved. So today got back in motor is now hooked back up to boats fuel tank and now it won't troll. So with fuel line ran into a seperate tank 2 gallon can with non ethanol fuel it runs. Hooked to big tank and same problem as I previously stated occurs.

  5. Thanks for the response. I have read about the vst screen and I called mercury and they had a warranty claim of "cleaning vst" on other motor. I had the original fuel line connected on this motor and believe I probably have a fuel restriction in my screen.

  6. I changed the plugs and still occasionally drops rpm once over 4500 rpm. It occasionally will surge back up after a minor drop in rpm. Between 1500 and 4500 rpm everything is great, but still will run rough after trolling for ten minutes. Been fishing just taking it easy on it right now and will take her to dealer after first week of August. So far I have changed plugs, fuel filters and fuel line. Any more suggestions would be appreciated. I have dual outboards so i have been trolling with th other and just cruising out at 4200 rpm.

  7. Watermellon super slim in gold, i am pretty sure the big one came on a mini spoon down 65 over 80. The lakers are mostly 50 ft down and deeper, we trolled north and south from 75 out to a hundred. The steal head and browns are through out the water column. For guys who fish barcelona to dunkirk and use mainly sticks and spoons trout have become more common over the years, for me anyways. I bet you you our boat has landed 30 lakers, 10 browns and 15 steelhead this year. I honestly believe if we targeted solely lake trout I could box and average of twenty fish per trip the last few weeks. When not in a tournaments I always run a spoon deep to keep action in the boat. The boxes just keep getting bigger and bigger in theses tourneys.

  8. Yea bite was good anywere never seen so many big boxes. We ended the day with 21 walleye, brown, steelhead and multiple laker one around twenty five pounds. We have caught more trout of all kinds this year, it is really unbelievable. Pre fishing I caught 2 browns and two steelhead on Friday morning. On Thursday I took seven lakers on one rod 65 down over 80 ft. We also caught our biggest eye pre fishing that depth on a spoon. Tried to put same spoon down that deep in tourney and had two lakers on before the next rod got in, had to switch it up keep it above 50ft to avoid trout. Wieghed in 37.45 pounds. 10 th place wieghed in just above 40lbs. We fished brocton shoal. If you couldn't catch fish Saturday you are doing something wrong fish came off everything. Target depths 25 to 55 in my option. We ran mini spoons off riggers, worms off big dipsey 140 back on 3 and a half. Two 9 colors, two 7 colors and two five colors. Caught really same amount off all set ups big fish 9.78lbs came off dipsey.

  9. Well today I am going to put a new fuel line and see what that does mercury dealer said he would give that a try. The fuel line on one motor is two years old the motor that is not working correctly has the original. Dealer said doesn't think pump would be bad because it will run for long periods with no real problems. Who knows, just want to keep fishing. I will know later today and if no luck back to the dealer and out of the slip.

  10. Have a 115hp 2007 efi merc. Motor will run rough after trolling for awhile and the RPM's will occasionally drop off also at higher RPM's. will run for miles with no issues and then all of a sudden it will run bad again. Replaced two inline fuel filters and no difference. Fuel is treated. Any suggestions?

  11. Well ill chime in on the walleye eating conversation. Clean them quickly soak large fillets in ice water a day. Get everything off the skin side. Chunk the nine to ten pound eyes back strap in medallion size pieces cook hot and fast in butter and garlic, do not over cook. Take the tail piece and give it to a relative who only eats fish fry's at the local vfw and whom hasn't been eating the perch you caught ice fishing. Or fry them up for your nieces and nephews, they cover them in ketchup anyways.

No walleye is a bad tasting walleye, the only ones we through back our the ones you have to measure. I

  12. Yea there is a milky oil mixture when I pull the dipstick. I just read the article you refered me too and it seems the EFI 4 strokes this is very common with especially when trolled at low speeds which I do hour after hour. That was a good read I love this site, I might be able to sleep. Dealer is going to look at it tommorrow. The worst fear crosses your mine when water is in the oil. Thanks guys.

  13. Well I have dual 115hpercury on my boat 2007's one motor has water in the oil. The other drops RPM when at higher speeds. The one with water in the oil is running good. I did have one bad battery which we just replaced and rechecked all connections. Just noticed the water in the oil today figured I would replace both fuel filters and that's when I checked the oil.

Will call marina tommorrow, but opinions / advice would be appreciated.

  14. I do f dock. Come visit. 26ft walk around dual 115 4 stroke mercurys. We got six yesterday wieghed one 8.5. Got 4 today two over eight lbs. No fish under 5.5 lbs all weekend. yesterday caught fish on short cores. Today three fish came off the bottom. Small dw spoons watermellon. My buddy docked next to me wieghed in two over nine yesterday. Lakers were there. Slower then we would like but we grinded it out. Leader down (light) and troll slow.
