  1. I would stick with the 10 color. We always drag a 10 color down the middle. Adjusting the length we let it out on the day. If I am planning on running all ten colors I will run roughly a 40 ft leader something's shorter. If you only have one leadcore rod that's what I would do. If you are running it off a board now that's completely different. If you put it out seven colors and clip the core in a release you will break it off eventually. As much power pro/fireline backing as you can fit. We use 30lb.

  2. Fishing in ice tourney on sodus in a few weeks have done some reading and such. Any advice on we're to catch a pike and panfish would be helpful.

In return anyone who comes down to walleye fish erie in ny in summer can pm me anytime and I will do my best. We have benn fishing out of the Cattaragus creek for perch with little success, but walking our on Erie is a cool experience.

    Thanks you

  3. Before all the bait restrictions we used to used large smelt we caught in Erie for pike bait on tip ups and they work great. Is it illegal to use a smelt or bait from Lake Erie / Niagara river in the bays on Ontario? Obviously they are not the same waterway but are connected.

  4. I use 30 lb Berkly crystal fireline. I clip it right to the release using big boards. I just make sure I take a few feet off every once and a while and re tie using a small swivel. I used to do the stretch of mono in between but walleye fishing occasionally we run two seven or eight colors off the same board with the farthest away from the boat being the farthest out, which helps with tangles. I have also used power and like that also.

  5. I see in the rules there is a ten point bonus for a grand slam. What will a grand slam consist of? I see it will be announced at the captains meeting so I am assuming it will be a suprise. Could you give a pass example. The one thing that cool about this tournament is that you have to catch multiple species which makes your decision on were to start fishing tough.

For the Chautauqua event most of the year calico fishing is tough during the day, but since fishing starts at 5am you might have a good shot to catch some before daybreak. The only problem with that is you are now hurting your chances at getting a walleye.

  6. Can't wait to fish chautauqua event. Lake has been completely covered for several days now. I see that white perch are included in the small fish divison. There is also a good population of Silver bass which many get confused with each other. On chautauqua although not in the past several years we have caught silver bass up to 17 inches. Just bringing that to your intention because I am sure many would misidentify the two species especially because many of the silver bass lines are sometimes not as pronounced on chautauqua as compared to Erie. It seems you guys are doing a knockout job with these events and a 2000k first place prize is awesome. Just wanted to bring this to your attention because I want to see the events go as smooth as possible for you guys.

  7. I appreciate that. I have storage in my heated garage were it sits now. I was wondering if the price was reasonable I received a lot of opinions on the boat from people and decided on $13500. I have a good amount of new equipment recently installed. We have caught a lot of fish out of it and I am now in a position were I can almost afford what I would really like.

  8. Do you have any idea of how deep. I talked to one of the Dec guys and they said they had nets between sturgeon and Myers reef full of walleyes a few weeks back in about twenty feet.
