  4. Too many people dont understand population control! We are predators and some species need thinning! Everybody understands a rodent or pest problem....same thing! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Btw its emergent weeds and they are VERY close to surface...gettin tougher may need new water or back on the other side...scotty n i are goin ALL night tonight! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Ive been setting up on the inside of that weed line....no weeds really for us! Hard to get the boat just right so you get eyes and no weeds but i figured it out by doing it in the day. Thete is a inside corner of the weeds and ive caught 20 plus in a 10 foot circle! Not easy...i had a rough night a day or 2 after you went with me and had to find a weedless or nearly weedless edge...if i coulda had 1 eye while you were there i was gonna have you get on the other side of me. Boy what a bait boil though...shoulda caught more... Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Got out early tonight, with fellow lou member jonathan, to make sure my spot was my spot. As a result i knew we had at least 2 hours of bass before the eyes would be there. It ended up taking 3. We had a lot of bait boiling all night and a steady pick of decent to good bass, with the biggest about 20 inches. Im pretty sure he thought i was crazy when i kept telling him that we didnt need to change lures or location and just keep casting. Finally after every boat on the lake quit the eyes turned on right where i had him set up and he banged 2 nice eyes, a 5 and a 6 pounder. I lost 1 and hammered bass. There was definitely more eyes around but we couldnt get them to go. Tonight was the first night in a month that i didnt land an eye, but i was glad the 2 we got were his. As fun as they are to catch i love to hear "thats the biggest walleye ive ever caught!" from a guest. Action was definitely a bit off, but patience and persistence paid off as usual! I hope tomorrow picks up, but walleye fishing is never easy! If it was i wouldnt do it! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. I told them the weigh in was at 3pm sat the 19th of july. They seemed eager....I know its easier in person to get answers and I/we have questions. Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. No idea! Leaving that to rnsurfnturf...im in charge of procurement, not preparation! Lol. I can tell you there isnt much left on a walleye after it has the normal fillets, cheek meat, and walleye wings removed. I should have enough walleye for everyone by july 19th. 10. I just recieved word from the dec region 7 office that they will attend our walleye event in july. I requested a presentation a couple weeks ago to explain stocking plans, the angler diary program, and how we can help them. There are many issues and this should clarify any confusion. Its very easy to be critical of the DEC and each other, but I hope this will help forge a better relationship between us all! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Have that on my wall! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Brent, I didnt take it as an attack at all. We know eachother and we understand each other's reasoning. My goals are obviously different than most. Some people arent big fans of sharing others are...its not a right or wrong issue. Its a personal choice we all make. Just so long as we can fish and share the resource im happy. Stop down again had fun fishing together and would like to again! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I understand your point, but all it takes is a lack of fishing and low catch rates and if there becomes a shortage of fingerlings those fingerlings will go for supplemental stockings first and then its a popularity contest to see which alewife lakes will get what is left. Otisco gets an edge because of the shore access at the causeway and the state lists it as a top 5 shore spot for freshwater. As far as pressure goes its busy for 2-3 weeks then a ghost town out there. When there was guys fishing i didnt post much info...though i was fishing, not catching much more than 1 if i was lucky. When i stopped seeing guys on the causeway, only 1-2 on the rocks, and hardly ever more than 1 other boat...then i started reporting....i certainly think the difficulty of the fishery keeps it from overcrowding. I have taken 16 people and not 1 has chosen to come back on there own that i have seen. I do think a few might be out this weekend, and it is a good thing imo! When are you coming out again? Its gonna end soon enough! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I just sent an email on the same subject and havent recieved a response. Looks like conesus is now on an every year program and we are every other! Seems they cant decide as this is nothing like the last word i recieved. But like ive said they made the case the fishery is too good to walk away from. Dont you think the lake needs to be promoted to save the stockings now more than ever. Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. WTG....love stripers! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I hear it from quite a few guys too, but anyone ive given filets to has begged for more. We all have different tastes and i throw back eyes from the river in favor of alewife fed eyes. I love the thicker bigger filets. Of course i wouldnt eat an egg on a bet...the smell will make me skip breakfast so understand preferences! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Similar strategy different species. Thanks for sharing! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Its cool to see how much we all love or hate our gear...once we are catching well and happy we dont mess with ANYTHING...but boy if we struggle there's nothing we won't try! Devin, I do enjoy messing with you and i do agree with you for your application. That being said I do quite well in my application Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Most people wont need to go that fast for sure....just purely saying that NO piece of trolling gear is best for everyone and every application. If you troll for summer tigers or muskies you will need more speed....and if you wanna keep fishing with 1 side while cleaning weeds off the other amish boards are not suitable...or if your wife runs them in and out. There is no 1 setup that is PERFECT for multi species and multiple lakes its all a compromise. Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Sean, Ive noticed that the next-generation seems to be trolling faster. I know I troll extremely fast for eyes compared to almost anyone. I believe it weeds out smaller fish and "trash" fish as well as the fact you can fish more water. Just wondered if that was your reasoning? Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Old man, MY PLEASURE! Id like to see more sharing amongst anglers. Bottom line is an accurate fishing report helps guys time trips. We all want to be on a lake when its ON! I travelled around for 20 years and got really sick of being lied to by tackle shops and other fishermen. So I help now that im fortunate enough to have a setup that allows me to fish enough to be able to help. I had a gopro on board a couple times that a friend brought. I have a one track mind when a fish is on and i couldn't remember to turn it on etc. I hate to have cool gadgets be cumbersome when it comes to putting fish in the boat. Problem is after the fish is in the box or released i wish ihad the footage to share! Just gonna take practice like everything! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Couldnt agree more Kevin! You and I have talked about this many a night, and its simple. The trout fishermen, to their credit, are organized, educated, and active in the fishery. Walleye guys are a secretive bunch. We dont organize, no tournaments, no charity events, no participation in the diaries. In short we have no voice. On Otisco we are starting to have a voice....the fish are stocked for the masses....and until walleye anglers educate themselves and organize we will not control the future success or failure of the fisheries we love! 23. I do pull mine up that way devin...you fish where there isnt a minefield of floating weeds that CANT be avoided mornings and evenings in low light. Plus i routinely reel mine up to avoid getting them run over or to weave in and out of mooring bouys, boats etc. I leave mine out all day if i can...the amish boards arent for ALL applications. How do your boards pull at 4 or 5 mph too? Mine glide along....i can run them in at 3 mph while trolling! If you troll slow on Ontario prob the way to go... Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Nice job old man! New it was picking up even tho i couldnt get em to go. Ive gotten several at night without TOO much trouble...but not in 2 fow...they are insanely fast when they cant go down! Have you been using your gopro? Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. I give trimmed filets to my neighbors at the campground and the owner for putting up with me up at all hours coming and going with the boat, guests, and my loud mouth! Plus i eat it daily when im catching... DJ, Thats the reason i love to fish for eyes in otisco...good water quality...safe eating! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
