  1. I trim my fillets also and completely remove the lateral line. Crappie get the nod but I can fill a freezer with a lot less filleting and big thick fillets have more options when cooking. Jeff, You are no blind squirrel! Like me you didnt know what you "cant" do when walleye fishing...as a result our techniques are unconventional. You hide the ball below the fish...I use divers and hide it in the algae bloom 15 feet over the eyes. No wrong way when you have the fish in the box everytime out! I still think deep divers produce bigger fish, but ill be using your spoon program on my probe rigger! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Thats hilarious hermit! I asked a guy at the launch the other how he did...he says otisco USED to be good for walleye when they stocked it and before the tigers! You shoulda seen his face when I showed him pics and explained the current stocking program. Guys just assume that because they struggle it cant be done! I hear so much BS that simply is incorrect! 3. Chas they would be extinct if they fought like a sportfish AND tasted amazing! Lol. Patriot Any lake with alewives has a surface bite...you just have to find it...bomber long a in blue prism is the best stick I know of...my son got 1 on a walk the dog bait in Tennessee shad last night! 4. 1 oz 50 feet in front of lure and 50 back from boat at that speed will be about 7 feet down. So id say with 113 back from the boat you would be about 10-11. Based on off shore snap weight data and the trollers bible...not a guess Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Great job, nice fish! Thanks for the report! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Connor that 27 was the lightest hit you can imagine...on a 5 sec pause! Alewives hit harder. MY favorite short of a top water explosion. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Fun to get the big girls in 1-3 fow 5 feet from the boat at night on light tackle too! All summer its long lines and boards, and we do get an occasional rigger eye 80 to 100 back. BTW we still troll the paint off sometimes! Lol Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. The alewife spawn casting bite takes a ton of time to learn enough spots for consistency, but once you do its an every spring 4 week bite. If everyone could catch them they would call it bass fishing! The early padt of the season was so tough most guys quit here. There WAS several boats out every night, but is just me since the fishing turned on. Even the causeway doesnt have much pressure during the time to catch eyes...11 to 4. 9. I quit early last night. I was in bed at 3. I dont drive home...just stay right here! We took our dogs and they were getting cold! I only sleep a few hours a day and i can manage. We finished with 26 bass, 4 eyes, and quit with fish still biting. Gonna hunt new water tonight...just way to many bass have moved in to the area ive been fishing. Its gonna be over soon so Im gonna enjoy the stellar fishing while I can. It'll be nothing but trolling soon! I need a few more fish for the LOU Walleye day fish fry. Id get there quicker if i didnt eat fresh walleye everyday! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Just picked up number 3...a 27 incher...16 bass so far Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  13. My son cody and I are out for smb lmb and then walleye when they get here and i thought id share our sunset. We are getting a steady top water pick on smallies so far. Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Way to go! Solid here at night still. Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. We catch 100s walleye fishing at night casting sticks during the spawn. The alewives attempt to mate with the sticks and the "hits" are sometimes harder than the walleyes! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Cold front and wind kicked our butts all day for sure... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Now apply what we taught you...I expect to see some eyes come outta conesus ASAP! It was our pleasure...you are welcome. Your son Ethan was well behaved, attentive and respectful! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Seaguar blue label and dont ever think about it again...pricey though! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Depends on what you do! I would give up every electronic gadget I have for my SI....but I troll structure with big boards and its the only way to follow structure when you want the boat to be 100-150 feet off of it. Trout trolling on lake O...cant imagine youd need it. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Great fish! Now I expect to see you and pike freak on eyes....he's had the crash course! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Glad to hear you are fine! Id go with good mileage first and foremost. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Well said les! Dads get those kids outdoors... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Its teamwork in trolling! Does anyone really care whose fish it is? If you dont think so try solo with only 3 rods and see how "good" your spread and program are! The "reelers" need to know alot more than how to turn a handle...if they dont at the start of the day they will by the end...on my boat at least! If it doesnt matter who reels why are their tournament TEAMS? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. The real beauty is in the outdoors, the fine tablefare it provides, and living in a country where we are free to pursue it! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. BINGO! I Love the change in tactics as the season progresses and the challenge of being consistent. There isnt any technique, in finger lakes anyways, that works consistently! Its a good thing the top water night bite ends...cant go without sleep for ever! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
