  1. The "island" in the fishing area is a rigging/work table/seat/standing platform and it pops up to a changing room with chemical toilet. Diamond plate battery box with 2 batteries for the terrova, my main battery, and minn kota dc charger. Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Vinyl is done... fishhawk done...mast lights almost done! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Done as in sitting in the water not my driveway! Already have ideas.... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Walleye season is now open, and unfortunately it will be late in the day before im on the water. The boat project is done except for the fishhawk, and I thought id share a before and after. Ill post more pics tomorrow. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I was there the day they opened to get some bombers....they had just a few long a's, but they were THE color I was looking for...they were out when I left! Grabbed some tdd11's, f18's, and a couple reef runners to tide me over till I do a big order. The store doesnt have much from a trolling stand point, but it's a lot better than just dicks!
  6. Im stubborn about leaving trebles on. I have caught fish on the front hook trolling and casting, but it isnt often. When Im casting a stick with 3 trebles I have taken the front hook off for more bouyancy. With f18s 95% of the eyes I get are on the middle hook. If I was releasing fish Id go to a single hook or remove 1, but Ill pick hooks out a net for a walleye. I really dont have much of a problem since I went to a plastic coated net. Let us know how the experiment works chas!
  7. Last year I did the best below 30 feet...so depending on speed you would need 6-7 colors id guess...Keep in mind as the thermocline moves up and down so do the fish. A few feet might not seem like much, but in my experience on Otisco depth control is critical. The previous year water levels were 4 feet lower by end of summer and disolved oxygen levels dropped. This forced the eyes up in the column and I did well from 17-24 feet down. Somewhere in this thread I believe a charter captain mentions have 45 reels setup on core....thats not feasible for the average guy. Whatever technique you choose to get down to the fish you have to have some idea of where in the column you are fishing and have some idea on how to adjust up and down so you can "grid" the water column till you find the fish. Then if you have a probe and record the temp where you catch fish you should start to see a pattern. Then its just a matter of finding the depth at the temp you are after and setting your spread in that section of the water column. Again this is what ive found on Otisco where bait is abundant and the walleyes arent gonna chase baits that arent right in front of them!
  8. The full lake survey will be great to see!
  9. The stern is done...first pic is the new body on the stern...second is view of the battery box/livewells and stern from inside...last is 1 of the livewells...not too bad for a carpenter! I have a big piece of oak that goes across the back...riggers mount thru the oak to the welded aluminum Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. EXACTLY! As you know it can be done tho! If it was easy they would call it bass fishing...
  11. I have a bunch of the bait ball sticks and they worked fine this winter. The livingston sticks took the hardest shots this winter by far. My son had a 7lber completely swallow one! They all are too expensive and completely unnecessary...but fun to buy and try nonetheless!! Boat is getting closer...should have some pics to post friday!!
  12. I cant wait till wednesday! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Last week I ordered a complete rocket launcher and planer system from Great Lakes Planers. I had to wait a week longer than I wanted to before placing the order due to finances. I knew It would be nearly impossible to get the system and get it installed before the walleye opener, but I asked Tony to do his best. I just recieved a call from Tony and my system is ready to go and Ill have it wednesday!!!!!!!! Thanks Tony!! Its not often I get what I want ahead of schedule and cheaper than the original price!
  14. Congratulations to you both! Great job on the bird and passing on the hunting tradition!!!
  15. Sounds great...you're in if you wanna be! Ill be up thursday night or friday next weekend...stop by Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Fishing is great, catching even better, but harvesting enough to put up is always the best! Plenty of work too...lol! Nice job! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Good work Kevin! 1 more week! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Looks awesome Devin! Im getting close myself...ill be down to the wire...
  19. The list is current. If anyone is interested let me know as Im sure we will lose another boat or two.
  20. Otisco is plenty small enough for kayaking easily. There is camping, cabins, boat rental (both motor and kayak/canoe) and guiding all at the same location. Shore fishing is available from the camping area and docks, the county park, along the road, and at the state carry down area by the causeway. Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Great day Dennis! Thanks for the report.
  22. Weld it! Shouldnt cost much or take long, but piece of mind is priceless on any water...i bet lady O more than most.
  23. We will be starting at 5am. There is cabins and camping. The phone number is somewhere in the beginning of this thread. I suggest making it a weekend as driving before fishing isnt great, and trailering home after fishing and a cookout is worse...especially if you enjoy any adult beverages. This event is designed not so much for competition, but an opportunity to make new friends, and learn from each other. I plan on getting a chance to fish with several of you all throughout the weekend. Campfires and talking walleye fishing! This forum is a wealth of knowledge, but an event like this can be even better because you can really see first hand how other people do things. 24. Pikefreak We have an opening...ill update the list. Do you troll off your pontoon? Only asking as i troll from a pontoon. Just redid the railing around the stern, welded up downrigger supports, and moved the livewells and baterries. I hauled mine a ton the first year, but only a few times a year now as i keep it on Otisco. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Takes alot of time to get dialed in no matter what equipment you have. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
