Bob, If Kinger cant come up with a spoon color for eyes for me got any ideas for me. I get my fair share with my Rapala program on Otisco, but I cant catch a decent walleye on a spoon to save my life. justin

Ed don't worry about the critics you aren't doing anything wrong by sharing what you use and whats wrong with supporting a business that produces a quality product that catches fish! I promote what I like too! You are a pro member and in my mind that gives you the right to advertise, though I don't feel that's your intention. I plug Rapala as that's what I use! Does Kinger have any walleye spoon choices? lol Personally a report without lure selection/color isn't that helpful to someone looking for help! justin -

Awesome kevin! I haven't shot a woodcock in years, but I used to have a good spot...I think you just inspired to take my lab there and check it out. They aren't too tough to hit if you get em right at the top! Small game hunting would get me out looking for some mushrooms too! Ducks and geese are fun but I don't care to eat em like I do upland birds. Its been so warm here and the new moon doesn't help my deer hunting so Ive been fishing. And way to go Slash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! justin

Keep your head up Otisco is not easy! Look at some of my old posts... Ive fished a 40 hour weekend there for just a bite or 2. Ill admit in the beginning I was less apt to post when I got skunked, but back then I was alone posting about Otisco, and I wasn't getting ANY feedback. I hope you are fishing all up and down the causeway both sides as the "cut" isn't the only spot. I Know of 1 monster caught on the pond side this year so be sure to give it a chance. What lures have you tried so far and in what colors? justin

Ed you get it for sure...putting your thoughts down and giving yourself an online triplog as well as helping others will make you a better fisherman. Every trip I post makes me think of what I could have done different or better. Plus and most importantly for newbies is that consistent posting gives us a chance to get to know them a bit and gives them credibility on the site. Next thing they know they are getting more help and offers to fish with more experienced fishermen and the learning begins! PLEASE POST EVERYONE. Thanks Sk8man for a whole season of regular posts for all of us to enjoy and learn from! Justin

I give away a portion of my better catches all summer to the Dan the owner of Otisco Lake Campground and a couple of seasonal campers Im friends with, and of course anyone who comes on the boat leaves with fillets if they want. Id give away all the trout, but not the salmon! Ill bet Tim still has plenty of brown trout...lol! I don't hate the trout, but Tracy wont eat it and compared to walleye its not tablefare. My dogs even prefer walleye . I cook up all the dark meat I trim off and give it to the dogs. The fish oil content in the dark meat is very high and keeps their coats shiny and healthy, justin

I used the P line copolymer when I ran out of seaguar invizx this spring and had a slow trip. Coincidently next time out my seaguar order came in and I had a great trip so I never switched again. I use 15lb for spring and fall and 20lb all summer when im trolling faster and getting more tigers. I use the 6 or 8 depending on water level in the susquehanna. Can you share some of the coangling experience? Ive thought of doing it to learn from the pros. justin

Tigerhunter is spot on! Muskies are a difficult fish to handle and safely release so do a little research and have a plan ahead of time in case you get into them. If you have handling questions fire away as the musky hunters in this section of LOU are the most helpful guys on the site. Can someone give them a idea of speed for this time of year? Good luck and be sure to post your trip. justin

The night bite for largemouths has been pretty solid lately considering Tim and I are targeting walleye. We have been catching 1-2 a piece every night casting for eyes. This might not sound too impressive except they are huge. Large floating sticks over the weeds along shore seem to be the ticket. If you want a crack at a trophy bass for the wall id say October 16-20 might be your best chance. I have only measured 3 but those were 22-23 inches and id guess 6-8 pounds. The rest have been more like 18-21 inches. The biggest coming on the new moon and the full moon should also be great. Back in may we got 1 that was 24+ with the same pattern. With a little hard fishing Id say its as close to a sure thing as you can get, and don't be surprised if you get into some big eyes too! justin

Im a big braid fan myself. Ive been on braid for 12 years and on the rare occasion I use flouro or mono I cant feel a darn thing! Trolling I use a barrel swivel and casting I use a double Albright to attach my leader. I just tried the new Nanofil and the jury is still out, but so far I like it a just a bit more than the powerpro. I tried the powerpro slick8 and its amazing to fish but frays up too quickly as much as I fish. justin

Great story Les and thanks for the report! Seems like you do your best work solo! I had to work all day, but at least I was outside to enjoy the perfect weather today. I gotta get out for at least another troll or two, all this night fishing Ive been doing has been awesome, but I miss fishing in the light when you can really take it all in! The pic of the shoreline is beautiful! justin

Steelie1 By posting your trips, even if its a zero, you will build relationships here and others will open up to you more and help you. Personally the thing I look at most when helping others is how many trips they post and when I see somebody who puts some effort in I give more help. If you post exactly what you've been trying somebody might be able to see what you are doing wrong or give you some new ideas. Bottom line is this site is FULL of help if you go about it right. justin

Pap, Thank you for the kind words! I dont expect anyone to pay 20 dollars the site is free. I still think if you want to sell items its a fair deal to pay the 20, but it doesnt matter that much to me as i probably wont buy or sell anything here. Many sites you have to pay to plug your business or sell stuff. I paid the 20 to say thank you, but in my opinion the most important thing anyone can do is post reports, answer questions, and share. Keuka lake flta tournament

I called the DEC fish advisory number Ed posted as my family eats otisco walleye 4 times a week not a month. I was told that if a water does not have a specific restriction the 4 meals per month is a general advisory across the state. The individual i spoke with had no specific scientific data to share about any of the fingerlakes except the ones with restrictions. Otisco gets tested on a daily basis as it provides most of syracuse's water. Skaneatles is also checked daily, and their water is safe untreated. Seems like they are covering their behinds with the general 4 meals a month. Keuka was 1 meal per month over 25 inches. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Nick I was referring to selling. I feel if you are selling you should pay to help support the site. Posting reports and learning is what this site is about. I know I appreciate reading good posts, good stories, and of course great pictures. Thanks, justin

4-5 mph is a little fast even for me...my max is more like 3.8...but I sure would be interested in trying faster. You must of just about jerked that pig right out of the water with the drag screaming! Cant believe you didn't get any tigers at that speed tho May is still early. I seem to remember Captain Larry, mostlymuskies, saying that time of year 3-3.5 for tigers. Crazy the number of ways to catch a walleye. From blazing fast to crawling harnesses to top water with F18's. As far as clip weights for weeds goes I lay my line and clip the weight at the desired set back then hold the rod tip level with where the release will ride the planer line then pay out line till the clip is in the water. Then attach the release and send the line out till the clip weight just enters the water. The end result is clean lures and precision depth control as you know exactly how feet are in the water. justin

Nice report and nice catch.....bridges make shadows on the water that predators use to hide in the current and wait for something to drift by. With the walleyes ability to feed in the dark, shadows are key areas to target. If any of the bridges have lights nearby this is even a better spot. Prey tends to still be active after dark if there is good moonlight, twilight, or artificial lights. What kind of size eyes are you getting into? If you struggle to get into bigger fish, but believe they are there try bigger baits. Ive seen 19-20 inch eyes take a F18 Rapala. justin

The site is supposed to be helpful to others, and if you read posts from guys like Ed, Sk8man, myself and many others in the fingerlakes you'll see we do our part. Ive been thinking of moving my report to the pro side also because I feel if you want to read you should support the site. I havent done it because Im trying to promote the states waters and the sport. Even if you are new and learning you should be sharing your fishing reports too so we might learn something. I get over 1000 views a week from people interested in walleye and tiger musky fishing, and many requests for help everyday which I do my best on, but yet there isn't anybody willing to put up a report, and when the do they don't even mention the name of the lake or any info on how the fish were caught. Come on guys really....POST DECENT REPORTS if you enjoy reading them write them. As far as selling stuff goes I don't use the site for that, but you should be a PRO member if you are selling stuff. Has Been the lurker might end up being a better sportsman from what he read, but who does he help and you said it yourself isn't that what the site is about.... helping others!!!! You say find a good area...how can anyone find a good area reading here when guys wont even name the lake!!!! Ill pay the 20 to support the site, but you are right Ed there is no reason to other than to do the right thing. Maybe if there was more dialog on the other side it would be more useful. justin
