  1. Modifications were simple, but it would be nice if they were ready outta the box for 236 bucks!...i can see the water...ill know soon now Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Way to keep going till you get on em! Its crazy how you can keep going to the same spot and then the next day...gone. Its not so bad for me its 1 side or the other and small water. Those catfish can really get me excited and then when you realize it isnt an eye you go from super bowl to toilet bowl! Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. The main reason i didnt get the amish boards is my sweetheart, Tracy, runs the boards and she is petite and i wanted something she could handle that also worked...and when i hear men say turn towards the boards and its not too bad, it scared me off...and if they can break 200 lb test they may not be ideal for me. Dont get me wrong...i want a big boat, those boards and lake erie...im just not there YET! And Tony you can have the first i told you so if i end up switching...lol! Thanks again guys...i hope they come on time...i wanna go to the lake! Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. You can get at app on your phone that works well. rnsurfnturf on this forum used it on my boat and matched up well to the 2 gps's I have on the boat. Im sure if you pm him he can tell you what one it is. Also as sk8man mentioned if there are currents gps speed may need to be different, but you at a minimum need some way of reading speed then you can at least trial and error a bit till you can connect. Keep at it. Justin
  5. I was aware that the Amish Outfitters boards pulled even harder, but had hope the otters would be a happy medium. If I let out 200 feet on each side on little Otisco it would be quite a sight...if im unhappy they can go back and ill try the others. 125 feet I was thinking would be good for me...I only have rods and holders for 3 each side. I get crazy looks and people following just to see what Im doing now...if I had a spread like yours walleyemagic I think Id get run off the lake. Id love to see some pics of all those rods out must be awesome. How bout mast heighth off the water? Thanks for the input Justin
  6. Holy spread!! My terrova wouldnt even pull that and i doubt my masts would take it. Can you post a pic of that spread...id love to see it....how many lines can u run total Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Hope they work that well! I want as much spacing as i can get so i can comfortably run 3 rods on each side. Plus i hoped with the extra keels they would stay out better at slow speeds...under 1.2...my current boards hate slow and grab weeds bad. 8. My new otter boats come tomorrow. I ordered the extra half keels to add on them. Im hoping they really pull so i can get them further out. Wondered if any of you have them and how far out you have run them. I read somewhere on this forum about using string trimmer line to pull boards and i have some to try...the clips will certainly slide now. Cant wait to try it all out! 10. Tim you cost me an hour of sleep last night as i was so wound up after you sent me the pic! Congrats...so you got it all figured out...lol...wish i coulda seen that rod go...and you have seen vicious walleye strikes before...they just dont look as impressive in a rod holder...lol...good thing you snapped your barbie pole a couple weeks ago the day you ended up jigging for panfish in a 4 hour long downpour. To anyone starting out all the valuable info on this site isnt worth a thing without some good old fashioned hard work. Bet that one fish last nite with dad was better than 10 on my boat. Tim started at ground zero and just plugged away never quitting...that fish will open the flood gates, and with some equipment we will be seeing some more pics from Tim. 11. Gill-t is spot on...for any of you trying to troll with diving baits you MUST have a dive curve so you know exactly how much line to let out before clipping to a downrigger ball, inline board, or planer line in order to run the lure at the desired depth. This is not poke and hope the box says dives 8-15 or whatever...the book you want is precision trolling. It details multiple techniques to fish precisely where you want. Ill take a picture of the book and the dive curve for the flicker shad as it is free. I have posted others before but shouldnt have. If you look on this site hard enough i put up all 3 deep taildancer curves. BTW its pricey but worth it just like divorce. You can buy individual pages, and they are finishing up an app for your phone...also not cheap. The book gives you clip weight curves, lead core, and how different diameter lines effect depth etc. Reef runner and cotton cordell give dive curves on their sites for free, but there is more info you need in the book. 12. Not to hijack your thread kevin, but Tupper sounds right up my alley...big, hard to catch, well fed walleyes. Ill have a report of some kind in a week and a half when I get there! Thanks for the info everyone justin
  13. Guess i better check out my phone see if i have that option....i like it! Kevin got me onto the blacks release and they are the ticket. Cheaper too! I set mine hard enough to bend the rod way over, and when it fires i have a fish. Before id run back and it was 50/50. The pinch pads just dont give a hard hookset...the line slips thru. I do tow the occaisional brown, but anything else trips the release. Plus the blacks can be adjusted for a shad rap or a hard pulling reef runner, and still give you a hookset before it releases. A long moderate action medium power rod will recoil and take up the slack quickly and fish on! I owe all that to kevins posts and this forum. Next time you see me give a holler! 14. Glad you got out there! Love that panoramic picture...gopro? I have a little footage to post that I haven't even looked at yet. A big part of the recipe that Im doing well with is timing. What I didn't always post was that a lot of days I trolled 16+ hours and all nighters in order to make sure I knew when to fish. The bite doesn't last long when its on so you have to be on the pattern and on the water. Sure I get a fish here and there at off times and they are usually big, but those stragglers are hard earned. Basically for eyes I wouldn't miss first or last light OR any time when there is a drastic change in light. Tigers we do the best from after the sun is up till mid afternoon. Don't be afraid to go 3mph or faster especially with the tigers, and speed changes from fast to slow briefly and back to fast can definitely work. Often times after we hook up as soon as the boat slows we get a double or as soon as we net and speed up we get bit. Now I routinely do this in a few of my hot spots. justin
  15. Gotta love the morning bite! Good to see you back on em. Im hoping the water cooling off doesn't cool off my morning bite. Its been downright chilly all of the sudden for August. Kevin, or anyone for that matter, next weekend is my annual trip with my son and his friends for his birthday, 21 this year, wondered if anyone has heard anything about Tupper Lake? Ive fished most of the Adirondacks in a canoe and always did fine, and its far easier with electronics etc. just wondered if anyone has a report. justin
  16. I agreed with you up until recently but the dec claims otherwise at Otisco and we have alewives in droves. Im not sure anymore, but either way the walleye fishing is outstanding. justin
  17. Yeah tough for me to give it a try, as I have my weekends fairly full but casting for big walleyes is tempting. Keep us posted...wouldn't take to many posts and id put it on the calendar for next year at the least. justin
  18. Nice fish! Catching big walleyes casting at night happens on many lakes, but the difficulty usually lies in timing and it tends to be quite spot specific. Sounds like you have a good setup, and great report. justin
  19. Nice job Bondouley and great to see sportmen helping each other out! These guys and this site are awesome. justin
  20. Not at all where Id expect a walleye, but they seem to suspend just about anywhere to feed. They often get em on similar setups on Erie and deeper. justin
  21. My son and i use lefties too in order to rest our rights. All my trolling rods are rights, and i fish so much that tendonitis and fatigue are factors. Consequently all my casting i use left hand retrieve. I switch back and forth surfishing too. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Unfortunately there isnt enough interest in a walleye LOU ALL for me to pull the boat to head to oneida unless something changes in the next day or two. If any of the 4-5 boats that were interested wanna come to Otisco ill take care of the launch fees and we'll have an informal get together. Ill be staying right there Friday thru Sunday. 25. Great job ed! You make it sound easy, we all know better. Great to see the results of old fashioned hard work...and time spent with family on the water. Nice report. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
