  1. Unfortunately, yes it's always the same thing... Proper fish handling when you intend to release a fish should be priority number 1 regardless of species. Please check out this publication from NYSDEC item number 6. We aren't making this up. If you want to keep a legal fish that's fine, but if you want to release the fish do some research and act accordingly. Every single week of the season I find floaters on the lake and fish mortality from handling is real. These aren't salmon that mature in 4 years...they take over a decade to mature. If anyone wants info on proper handling or anything for that matter ask questions please!
  2. There are ways getting on the water....
  3. Walleye is closed bud and this executive order goes till April 29th....use the gas money to buy pasta...let's not make this something it isn't...
  4. Don't get drawn in to the lunacy of fighting a battle against an immovable object. Most of us have no problem understanding the situation and those who can't won't no matter what your argument is....
  5. Sets a bad example at a minimum...and even if there isn't undue weight on the jaw you aren't supporting the internal organs... horizontal is how it's done.
  6. With boat launches closed as of today that's even gonna be tough Kevin!
  7. I understood you Scott and my comment wasn't directed at you...just others who are way too close even in normal non-covid situations...
  8. All weighted trolling methods go up and down with speed. Les and chowder are spot on with each method having it's pros and cons. An example of this is clip weights...they go up and down with speed change, but if the clip is 75 feet in front of the lure the lure moves very little up and down...put the clip 6' in front of the lure and you have a bait that will go up and down dramatically. On calm days you may want more action rough days less. A neutrally buoyant trolling system, jet diver, diving plug, etc isnt affected by speed much at all assuming you aren't crawling/stopped or going so fast the lure washes out.
  9. Or maybe just stay home if you can't follow the rules...
  10. They are promoting fishing but...in most cases anglers aren't avoiding parking in lots with cars and definitely are not avoiding crowded waters...yes you can fish, but not the way we are used to!
  11. All leadcore is highly speed dependant...that's why it's difficut to use trolling structure tight. Everytime you turn it sinks on the inside. Not a problem if aren't trying to be on the bottom to start with. Also once you start getting near 3 mph or over leadcore doesn't get down much at all. If you can find an old precision trolling book they do a good job of explaining the basic fundamentals, including line diameter and clip weights. All of this is much more important with walleye than trout.
  12. Seaguar premier flourocarbon leader is the only leader I know of that has some stretch.... especially with more than 6 foot. Many of the leadcore makers have a dive cure and blood run has a dive cure for different lures.
  13. Just heard from a customer of mine whose entire family has recovered from the virus and have been released from quarantine. I now have a group I can take that I can't catch the virus from or give it to when the time comes! Hopefully we can be back working sometime in May!
  14. They didn't close state run courses in Onondaga county though....
  15. Onondaga has it the worst upstate. That's the only county I've heard of that shut down golf, but good to hear.
  16. Evil boat launches don't make the money of golf courses... probably best to do neither for a couple weeks.
  17. Breathable suits don't last as long if I had to guess. My son and I haven't gone thru any of ours, but we take care of them. I sweat so bad wearing a non- breathable suit I might as well just get wet. Muck has a new more durable boot I bought this last fall...I have the same problem with them and I'm hoping for more life!
  18. If you aren't looking for breathable protection the grundens are as good as any. If you want something breathable you are gonna spend money. The Huk suits are very comfortable.
  19. Very thoughtful!
  20. I just wanna see someone with tan lines from a n95!! My rods sponsor has discount on UV protection masks...they say they couldn't hurt for coronavirus...
  21. You are reading it wrong....call the state police and every county and they will all say there is no travel ban! There are are rules associated and I'm not traveling myself, but you can. As far as if it's family I'm not indicting anyone from my easy chair. That being said if I knew for certain.....
  22. There is no travel ban in NY....
  23. I'm lucky in that regard at least... my dock is in and I can dunk the boat whenever im ready...don't need to be ready for 29 days tho...I wish I could say we will be over the hump but we won't be over the hump in CNY by May...be safe!
