  1. The trout and salmon guys are always free to do what they think is best with in the law, but those of us that chase esox are unlikely to help out by keeping esox...we do appreciate the trout stockings though! I was sorry to miss you guys here on Otisco, but my daughter's wedding was the same day. Hope you get into em! Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  4. Just heard today that bass pro shops has partnered with major league fishing offering a 300% increase in payouts. Presumably they will be using the live scoring with immediate release. This may put BASS down a peg as participating anglers will be required to sign a 3 year exclusive contract to fish only the new Bass Pro Tour. Let's all cross our fingers as this would be great for all bass anglers if tournaments went in this direction. It's big business but some changes are coming even at club levels. 6. Ned rig by zman baits...drag on bottom...it's a very hot technique on the tournament trail and easy Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Id get bored in no time without the challenge... polluted water, long drive, rough big water, blow offs and skinny fish are definitely factors as well. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. 3 weeks of trolling across several boats fishing regularly and nothing?
  9. BASS is invited and PAID by the local cities to come and have tournaments. These tournaments bring in tons of revenue short term, but also the millions of people who what the tournaments on TV flock to these fisheries to vacation and bass fish. BTW, BASS would tell you weights and catch rates have risen in the last decade during the bass tournament explosion. I'm not a huge fan of these events either but those anglers are c&r year round and those who keep them to eat are entitled to eating bass. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. My son fishes a lot of big tournaments and from what I understand the big tournaments really do a good job with the care of the fish. The anglers at that level take extra steps as well because there is huge money on the line and dead fish are a penalty. That being said I think they scatter stock partially so there isn't a bunch of floaters all in one location. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Any tournament or club affiliated with BASS or the FLW is catch and release. Any local derby is going to be a kill tournament. BASS events actually scatter stocks them after. Smallmouth are very good eating so plenty will always be killed and as long as the St Lawrence continues to produce trophy fish there is going to be constant pressure on the fishery. 18. It's here Wally Wally on my boat! You'd be surprised how many groups and families that come out with me have their own little "here fishy fishy" song or even dance!!!
  19. Good points Les but I'm referring to the fact that in today's day with the internet and this forum assuming you pick a finger lake that has any fishable population of trout and salmon it's not difficult to catch a fish or two even if the lake isn't on fire like Cayuga. Keep in mind 4-6 hrs per fish would be good for a quality finger lake walleye... Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Trout n salmon in general are easy and neither Ontario or Cayuga are precision trolling in most cases! Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I've listened to way more sticky drags than smooth ones over the years.... probably a combination of many factors, but point is Kings will let you know if you arent doing something right. As far as tying knots in heavy leader material goes the seaguar premier with a little stretch and thinner diameter ties easier than the blue label. I definitely prefer it though I have to say the blue label is great as well just harder to work with... Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  24. Great fish guys! I'm catching some fat walleye down here, but no limits by any means! Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Seaguar premier flouro has some stretch...the best flouro shock leader I know of...good drags set properly with fresh leaders and you shouldn't be breaking off. Seems like bad line or sticky drag to me Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
