  1. Nice work guys! Glad to hear you are on the water...well deserved day! Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. First, Pete is doing what he was hired to do so don't make him the bad guy. Second, the farmer has every right to lease his property and if you don't like it buy your own land and see what it's like to pay taxes on that land and see how interested you are in letting people hunt for free when you struggle to make a living farming. Third, you lease so you can hunt with friends and family... paying for guided hunts for 6-8 people is more than 7 grand. If you are retired and can't afford it tough! Last, if we didn't put excessive value on a stupid set of horns and just hunted for deer like we did for generations leases wouldn't exist. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Whaler, eventually we all will if we want good private hunting... Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. I guess I had no idea leases were that much here in NY. I was looking for one in the Midwest a couple years ago and you could lease property that had been managed for quality deer for over a decade for that! Hunting isn't going to be feasible for most soon...even in NY. Wish it wasn't just about antlers and qdma...what I once thought was awesome will end up ruining the sport. 5. Minn Kota also has the ulterra that deploys and stows automatically. Also has powertrim. I'm going that route next...didn't dare last time, but they have been out 3 years now and I know several happy owners... certainly wouldn't get power assist after hearing about that. 6. Battery life is a simple matter of how hard you run you tm and how many amp hour batteries you have. Turn it up most of the way and let it go... batteries will die! Put 6 big guys on your boat and see how hard you have run your tm for responsive steering. Keep your bow up with 1 or 2 guys and your boat will steer no prob. Fish that 20 mph into the wind and see how hard you run that tm. If I already had a lowrance unit and wanted to link I'd go with the motorguide as well, but I prefer my birds. Another thing to think about is the new Minn Kota that was just released has a built in transducer available that will support chirp and the mega down imaging instead of universal sonar. 7. Full or new moons in June or end of may Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Trolling will pick up this weekend with the moonphase.... especially the afternoon/dusk walleye trolling Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Minn Kota will take care of the problem I'm sure...if you call and explain your dissatisfied with there product they will offer some solution. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Yes a blue pickerel is what they call a blue walleye in canada, but that is a pickerel and blue walleye are extinct. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. If I had a couple guys who wanted to do the canal I'd go again! I have a whole fleet of fishing bikes rigged up hanging in my garage. Gotta have a women's bike so it's easier to get on wearing waders. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Glad to hear you are doing better and fishing! Nice haul too, but better you got out! Just in time for the up coming full moon! Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Topwater at night over boiling alewives for walleye, bass, and tigers is the most enjoyable fishing I do now, but the cape cod canal on a fishing bike jigging and topwater for stripers was the one of the best experiences but the driving got old. The Boundary Waters of Minnesota was awesome in a canoe as well. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. If you fish Ontario primarily and fish rough weather or have a heavier boat I'd go with auto pilot. For a multi species application on an aluminum boat you can't beat a bow mount. Battery life isn't an issue once you figure out how hard you can run it for your length of trip....just use more throttle on your kicker. Doesn't take a lot to steer if you aren't in 3+ footers. 15. I had the the 24v and put 1500 hours on it trolling and worked ok but I couldn't really run it over 50% or it didn't last long enough for my trolling trips. I have the 36 now and I have probably over 1500 hrs on it and it goes 7 hours easy at up 70% . My pontoon has 5 batteries and I fish up to 5 adults and myself pulling boards and riggers with a dozen rods and on flat water I can troll all electric 3-4 hours. The bow mount will definitely improve your boat control and tracking. Not to mention auto pilot can't steer so you can land a fish easier or slow the boat a little to net... complete control out of your seat. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Definitely building a long term relationship with your captain will help tremendously with how much you can participate. Not many people are allowed to operate my riggers, and I net always, but everything else is on the table. Ive seen so many botched net jobs and work way to hard to catch walleye to have things go wrong that late in the game and I don't want anyone leaning out of the boat with riggers or netting. 17. I hear this a lot and all I can say is ask questions prior to booking so the captain knows what type of trip you are interested in. Some people want the work done for them and some want to learn and do it themselves. Every customer is different so if you have individual concerns make sure the captain knows them! Personally, I get all the work I want fishing on my boat and taking my customers so when I pay for a trip I'm there to relax only! Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Two good ways to defeat floating weeds trolling are First when flatlining put your rod tips right in the water. Weeds collect on rod tips and don't slide down Second way is to put a clip weight on just 20 feet back from your boards. Weeds will eventually get to heavy to troll but keeps your lure clean and diving to the intended depth. As far as weeds collecting on boards you get good at flipping them Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. That's what we thought... Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Some of my biggest tigers have come only down 10 feet or so over 65 fow in 80plus temps middle of the hottest day of the year.... sometimes we fish topwater over deep water too...you would be surprised how often you can trigger a deep fish with a shallow presentation when they won't hit a deep one. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Flatlining doesn't mean shallow...the term means a non weighted line and no additional tackle between lure and mainline to achieve depth or spread. The lure itself could dive to 40 foot flatlined. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. The boys had a bass federation tournament today on Cayuga and caught this pickeral. Just wondering if anyone else has seen anything like it? Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I think Paul is saying fish your graph all year.... Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. If you want to cast at night it's an excellent time. Deciding the best month really starts with deciding on how you want to target them. For a troller high water temps and summer do a nice job of putting walleye right where you get them easy. Best part about Oneida is there are lots of options. Size of fish is the worst part....for me anyway. Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. I run a 9 for mapping and a 12 for sonar and side imaging. No sense having side imaging without a 10 inch screen minimum Sent from my E6810 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
