The campground launch is all but closed and all of the boats have been pulled from the slips. The other launch at the marina still has a little water but be very careful as there are submerged stumps to negotiate getting from marina to the lake. I had made my last trip yesterday and I have cancelled my remaining dates. Lake is still dropping an inch a day.... Mark Troy Memorial Tournament

Ever try invizx on tiger musky? Have your trolled tight structure where zebra mussels are present? I've had many failures with invizx as leader in these environments. Blue label or premier have yet to fail in either situation with in reason. Does invizx work... of course in most situations...is it cheaper....yes...is it as durable...NO. I know of several professional bass fisherman that use it as leader for its stretch, but they don't need exceptional abrasion resistance. At the end of the day if you save money and have no issues keep doing what you are doing....but take my word for it if you fish Otisco invizx will let you down eventually and truth be known the seaguar leader isn't a steel leader and it too will fail eventually.... everything works great up until it doesn't😀 Justin Okrepki NYSDEC licensed guide #7324 otiscolakeguideservice.com (607)-349-1750

Just be aware that line is much less abrasion resistant than leader and by no means are the two comparable as leader if abrasion is an issue. If you are looking for a close substitute seaguar makes a flouro mainline, abrazx, and it is a much more durable alternative to invizx but not as soft and limp. Things have slowed down a bit lately, but I'm not sure if it's the recent weather. The good news is the smallmouth have turned on... yesterday we were 1-2 on eyes and 5-8 on huge smallies. The walleye we landed was part of a quad where we landed 2 of 3 bass too. Has been very tough to find active fish some mornings but when you do its pretty crazy. Anyone ever troll at night?
justtracytrolling replied to FishingTheFL's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
I use led mast lights and DOT reflecting tape on the inline boards....just as easy to fish at night as day....I will say I've never had any luck with spoons glow or not on walleye at night...try bomber long a blue prism jointed...it works very well at night on everything here on Otisco that's on bait and I know it works for trout Justin Okrepki NYSDEC licensed guide #7324 otiscolakeguideservice.com (607)-349-1750 -
Lake is still dropping... campground launch is very low and I'd be super careful if you choose to launch there...I can no longer even pull my boat with my trailer as the bunks on my pontoon trailer won't even get wet...I'll keep fishing till it comes back up! It's on here this moon phase for sure! We have a pretty good bunch of guys out of our marina here on Otisco that share quite a lot really, but it's face to face. Meeting guys from here and fishing together is a great way to shorten your learning curve. Also go search this forum for old posts...there is a lot in them if you read it all...when I joined I read the ENTIRE walleye section...every post...I learned a ton!

The rain last night helped some and the campground launch will remain open...the marina launch actually has 2 ramps and the steep one has ample water and that is the launch I'd use if you are worried!

Nice fish! I've been posting about Otisco for years and have had some company many times and wondered if the other boat is here because of me, but honestly I fish nearly every day and I don't think other boats are helping but I still catch a fish here and there! If it's shore fishing I get it...and oh by the way the bite is still on fire like it has been all summer here on Otisco... if you can get your boat in the water!

I hate to say it but in my opinion the lake has become to low to launch and load for anyone with a deep vee. You can still do it as of today but by the weekend you will be putting your boat at risk. Several boats have already had issues...most of them avoidable, but issues none the less. This is just a heads up...not saying the launches are closed...just hate to see someone due any damage.

Ditto all that and if if doesn't work go deeper...now is not the time for casting... imo they will be deeper than that... soon... daytime pressure is a factor but it's a small one...I've done better in the morning all season, but last year the nite bite was phenomenal... Holiday weekend plenty of boats all weekend and we did 5 today from 8 to 11 am...fished Saturday night from 10pm to 2am and had half the action...if you are fishing less than 10fow casting boat noise is a huge factor

Conesus Post cold front walleye question for Conesus
justtracytrolling replied to moonfish's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Troll 20 to 25 down with deep divers off inlines....no such thing as a hot spot when they are suspended on bait....don't bother fishing the deeper marks stay up...the active fish will be hard to mark unless your transducer is mounted on your trolling motor...they tend to slide down and away from your boat and the cone of your sonar is small up high in the column. Worm harnesses, core, spoons etc all work too if you can get the depth right. -

I got one well over 30 (maxed my scale) on a plug several years ago trolling...there's a pic on here. When they hit a plug trolling it is exactly like a snag...takes fairly heavy tackle when the boat isn't stationary. We have insane numbers of big carp and clear water to see them. Tons of them are caught off the causeway.
-
Not sure why they aren't a bigger sport fish. I'm on Otisco and we get tons of people sport fishing tigers but nobody bothers with carp. I get a few a season between accidentally snagging them and the occasional one that strikes a plug. Here is one from 9 days ago trolling walleye that actually choked the plug....weighed 20 lbs and out fought any tiger I've ever seen... including ones I've fought in current.
-
Happens on every body of water out there....I've seen it with only 2 boats on the water... several times in fact...last time it happened Mike was on my boat and he wasn't thinking popcorn I can tell you that!!! Lol....gotta get past it and just fish...and yeah people follow boats way to much

Conesus can't be that different than Otisco....I know we have had more stocking, but look at the spawning run....I remember being told by everyone I ran into that there's no way you can get consistent catches at Otisco. Guys told me if you catch a few a season you are doing well....all a big bunch of bs! If the fish are in there they can be caught and caught in numbers period! Just because nobody else is talking doesn't mean it isn't happening either. How many walleye reports did you find on Otisco prior to mine...answer... mine! Sometimes you have to actually go out time after time and figure it out the hard way....night fishing should improve your odds of getting started at least.
