On a side note we got our outside board hit by a ski boat and the skier narrowly avoided a high speed encounter with 40 lb braid....I was trolling tight and the ski boat shouldn't even have been on plane that close....and had an entire lake to use to overtake me and pass...we need mandatory boater education for EVERYONE desperately. I have to take it every 2 years....the average boater is clueless
My boat did 3 eyes....

My range for walleye is 2 - 3 GPS speed. The more they wanna bite the slower I go....when they arent biting I go for a reaction bite and keep increasing till I get them to react. 2.2 to 2.6 is where I usually end up if I'm strictly after eyes. Go faster and odds off dealing with muskies goes up dramatically.
I weighed a 7 14 for him earlier this year...so more than that according to him but it doesn't matter...he has a state of the art live well system and could have brought her back for a weight or whatever...
My son gets some great bass every spring, but we just don't see those huge fish during bass season during daylight. This largemouth is his best fish to date...fish was immediately released after a quick pic....no measurements were taken. I'm very proud...special fish just don't need all the handling and a number attached to validate an awesome fish. He hauls enough fish back for weigh ins...
The Otisco lake rod n gun club sponsors stocking of browns...we get them regularly walleye fishing but I personally haven't caught 1 over 3-4 lbs but have seen several footballs
Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Went out solo tonight for an hour to watch the sun set caught 1...gorgous night but weeds were bad in places...lots of places...gonna go out at 530 instead of 430
Whopping 15 inches or so...caught on a tdd11 in perch...my neighbor was out with me and his wife loves em just that size cooked whole so couldn't have been better....plus he was hooked pretty good
I'd say the troll bite is here finally. Stuggled a couple hours this morning being stubborn and finally switched programs, bumped my speed, and had nice pick for a couple hours. We went 3-4 on eyes, 2 bass, a brown, and a big toothy something stole my prized walleye spoon miss em gave me 3 yrs ago before I could get a look at it. Great morning other than losing the spoon I can't find anywhere....the last 7 times off the dock Ive landed a couple.
Well said Prof T! Those of us who spend tons of time out there must set an example 100% of the time. I agree any change will be unpopular....but there may come a day where angler success and pressure are too much to sustain...while that has not yet happened I just feel if we start asking questions and questioning our own practices perhaps it never will crash. Conservation is simply not harvesting all you possibly can and "conserving" some for the future.
The braid wrap technique works on the walleye boards too....you can't have the boards slipping on braid...neither the pinch pads or the braid itself will last (especially any of the "slick" braids)...
