  1. Had a little action midday trolling today...nothing crazy so far this year but definitely some willing participants. Greenhornet I know what your saying...I've spent most of my fishing career on land or in a canoe. No way to do what I do and consistently catch in a yak. You can definitely catch, but plan "A" has to work...
  2. Nice work
  3. Keep on em! Nice work
  4. Awesome job kevin!
  5. Covered a ton of water casting last night and found eyes in 4 spots around the lake without getting any where near shore fishing spots. Gotta cover water...
  6. Im pretty sure individual limits aren't that hard to come by....not Oneida easy...but very doable. I may have seen a boat limit or two over the years if memory serves correct...lol...seriously though you just have to really work at it and fish more! The lake can and will humble anyone, but 12 fish outings happen and not just on my boat...I've never had 5 guys on the boat when the fishing was excellent to keep more than a dozen but I've seen 20 fish trolling or casting at night in a couple hours even from shore!
  7. Most of my reports and fishing condition reports will be on otiscolakeguideservice.com Feel free to pm, text, call for info as always... my first trip of the year is up now...jerkbait fishing is solid in 8-15 fow in my opinion right now....
  8. This what shore caught dinks look like and they don't just swim off....grassroots is where I'll work....
  9. That's why I asked the questions at the meeting before I joined...no big deal....keep it. I spent the day yesterday fishing the causeway for tigers with shore guys to see what was happening...lets just say I have plenty to work on here and really don't need a club for what I personally am intereasted in and that's change not cash tourneys. No hard feelings just not what I thought I was joining....the 3 year family membership proved a costly mistake I guess. BTW it's an excellent learning experience if you really wanna know what 8the real issues your fish face you should rub shoulders on shore and talk to people...see what you are up against...see you guys in a week and a half.
  10. You guys asked us to join you remember? I'm meeting with Trevor this weekend to discuss having a cny group that is interested in conservation and education of young anglers unlike this one Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Any chance I can get my membership back? This clubs goals do not align well with my goals. BTW I mentioned this BEFORE I joined and nobody had a single thing to say...you all need to worry more about the fishery and less about prizes. I won't support any tournament that scores illegal fish. I for one have no problem not getting any points if can't catch 1 legal fish. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Love my helix and getting another
  13. The humminbird doesn't update from wifi....it creates the chart right on the head unit.
  14. Humminbird helix makes the map for you and it's easy. No uploading and downloading.
  15. Have you tried trolling? The bigger fish are very difficult to target without trolling as they spend most of their time off shore on bait at a depth that makes casting inefficient.
  16. It's about the message we send. If everyone wants to target, catch, and score little fish thats fine....I'm out. I do not want a prize for catching dinks. I don't need a tournament in the first place. I care far more about the message and how we are perceived...that's why I brought this up at the meeting prior to joining and not 1 person said a thing.
  17. Keep the points system as its always been....just start at 9 pts for a 36 and up from there...total points per boat. The big fish pool takes care of the fish of the day.
  18. As long as we only score legal fish Im open to anything. As far as incentives to include kids I think that will have to wait till summer as we don't have time to plan.
  19. The new hummingbird helix 9 10 12 have what they call auto chart live....simply turn it on and watch the contours fill in as you cover ground....bout 800 bucks...Havent actually used it but come see me at the tiger tourney and I'll show you.
  20. Use a chemical stripper...the old stain is actually in the wood not on the wood...stripper will actually pull it out. You can mechanically remove the stain, but not without removing wood and usually ending up with a less planer surface. Stripping, scraping, and light sanding would be my recommendation. 21. There was a paper bass tourney today and I heard the smallmouth bite was good. If I hear anything specific or make it out I'll pm you. Sent from my LGLS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Thanks for the update...I hope the north end stays warmer than south...☺ Sent from my LGLS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Decided to do a second coat....much easier second time. Very happy now! I'd recommend 2 thin coats and you will use more the second coat. Sent from my LGLS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. We had a good meeting and Trevor and I felt chapter 69 was a good fit for us... Main areas of discussion other than membership and procedural formalities were: Getting more kids involved in fishing Esox Only scoring legal fish in tournaments Hosting events on new waters and maybe some new formats to increase participation Trevor put together an excellent packet on our objectives and goals. I'll see if he can put it up here. I know I'm very happy to join chapter 69! Sent from my LGLS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. I have seen many times where we had a nice steady pick of walleye and all the sudden nothing....next thing you know drag is screaming and you are on a tiger or a musky. I think predators can feed together , but when a big fish moves in on a bunch of smaller predators feeding they shut down the action. I have seen where smaller tigers and pike feed right along with walleye and bass...but not bigger fish...bigger fish shut down other action imo. If you are catching bass i would say there probably isn't a monster musky cruising the spot right then...but they could show up anytime...possibly even to check out the commotion. If I like a stretch enough to fish it Im probably gonna work the whole stretch regardless of outcome. That being said if you feel something lowers your odds move...I don't believe we fish well when we aren't confident. Sent from my LGLS996 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
