Pap,
The boy in my profile pic is Tracy's nephew....his older brother caught it! The 3 biggest tigers to come to the boat last year were all caught by boys between the ages 10-13...fish were 42-45! Had a 73 year old man take a 40 incher on spin tackle and 10 lb test trolling off riggers. Im not sure why the young and old are so genuinely thrilled to catch a fish and most others take it for granted...probably a case of innocence and wisdom!
The lack of children fishing is everywhere. I have a launch right in front of my rv and all season I watch boat after boat of men fishing...where are their children?? To many guys take the easy way out and let their kids sit in front of a tv, computer, or phone!
Les,
Your boat must think she's been sold!
Pap,
The fuel cell is 25 gallons and sits inside of the aluminum frame that the engine bolts to, and is bolted to brackets that are riveted to the sides of the frame. You have to remove the motor completely to pull the tank. My tank has had issues since the great marina gas debacle of 2014! Finally solved that nagging issue....you wouldnt believe the gunk, sediment, water, jelly etc. I gave up on it and switched to a little portable right after the incident.
My new to me 2008 60hp four stroke efi. I took the old motor off last Sunday. I dropped the fuel tank, thoroughly flushed the tank, remounted the tank, and bolted on the new motor Tuesday. I have lots of upgrades for this year. Ill keep adding pics...next week ill be starting the next phase.
2005 Mercury 200 HP Pro XS XL $8500. Motor runs great and in excellent condition. Seastar hydraulic steering and controls included. 6 " CMC Powerlift hydraulic jack plate. Oil reservoir, wiring harness also included.
I removed the factory wiring on mine and wired it direct with heavier wire as my factory plug wiring wasnt as heavy as the terrova wiring. I dont take mine off so i figured i didnt need or want a plug and cord. I have no visible wiring. Allowed me to move my batteries also to a better location for me
Last year we had ice on Otisco till mid April....Im very optimistic about a better start to my season. 47 even in shallow is excellent to hear. Cant wait for you guys to start fishing so there's reports to read...i prob wont have my boat on the water before May as I have lots of work to do on her...
Lead core is highly speed dependant. This is fine on suspended fish that will travel a distance up to feed, or where you have enough column not to hang up. Just dont want you thinking a 3 color will be AT 15' all day then go try to troll tight structure somewhere and find out the hard way that there is a significant rising and falling action to lead core...its not a precise method though very effective when used for the right application. BTW all negatively buoyant systems are very speed dependant.
In addition, in NY truly accidental catches in a closed season may not be handled except to unhook and release. No measuring, weighing, or hero shots....
In NY you cannot target a fish during a closed season...even catch n release. In fact many sections of the susquehanna watershed in NY are 100% closed to any and all fishing till the walleye opener. Targeting spawning fish out of season isnt something id advocate even if legal....
The faster you run em the harder it is to get em tuned...then you get to do it all over if you hook a good fish....they are a real treat to reel in too! When i have to go real slow to get bit they are 1 of my favorites though....
At all of the big predator hunting competitions use lie detectors and people have failed! They hire a company to administer them. They have a trailer set up and anyone who cashes gets sweated...had me as nervous as a long tailed cat in room full of rocking chairs even though i knew i followed the rules. I decided eventually id rather just hunt....
Lakers bite at 3 plus too! Lol! I figured that or a walleye guy. Seriously though, if you pick the right spread slow can work well for all species, but I feel i get better quality warm water fish the faster i go....the only reason i dont go much faster than 5 is i havent had much success though ive done 6... whats the max those spin n glows can take and be effective?
Bleed those summer fish and put em on ice immediately and they will be nice and firm by the time you hit the dock. The crappie the kids get outta 80+ degree water from my dock i throw in ice water alive and they are just as firm as ones caught thru the ice. Largemouth eat fine....Growing up it was my favorite out of our ponds!
