  1. Even if you have the proper charging system the battery life is dependant on the number of times it is cycled. AGM batteries can be cycled far more times than flooded cells. Regardless of brand amp hour or reserve capacity dictate how long your trolling motor batteries will last per charge. The entire FLW tour uses the walmart batteries and ill bet they use their trolling motors pretty hard and they manage...hard to beat the price. I run my batteries all the way down every time i leave the dock and have to charge them twice a day regularly and ive seen drop off in every flooded cell ive tried in a little over a season.
  2. The walmart batteries will work fine....amp hours is the key to having them last all day. The more expensive batteries should be able to be recharged more times with out replacement. There is a lot of info on this if you google it. The bass fishing forums are the best for this info. I look for the article i read that explained it well.
  3. Not hard to have your own made either...I had these bent up and cut em myself but you can definitely get them made like the stock extra keel cheaper than buying. These 4 keels were 63 total...its not necessary to weight the second keel if you use stainless steel instead of aluminum. Just have them bent to order and drill a couple holes...
  4. I have access to one and used it alot on my boat, but i priced materials to build my own and I still went with. a GLP deluxe captains pak....
  5. Site and App both work fine....how long till its online?
  6. Chad, The link worked for me. I installed the app thru google play and it works fine.
  7. Great lakes planers has what you need. Tony is great to work with and fair.
  8. Glad you got out...thanks for the report. How much of the lake is open? I havent been up that way since early january.
  9. I wanna be able to create maps with my data also and i have hesitated on buying as id like to hear a first hand unbiased report on it. Just how complicated is updating the map. The better units have faster updating gps as well as external gps antennas available...but again how well does it really work. I dont even use my map as it isnt accurate. I use it for waypoints only not contours. I use side imaging in contour mode for that.
  10. Id rather buy from someone who depends on their boat and uses it regularly. They have to maintain their boats or they are outta business. Most boats i see sit in a slip and dont move much or sit in someones yard and again dont move much and i dont want a boat that has sat...
  11. Over fishing can and has wiped out large fisheries, and by large i mean ocean, Seneca isnt an infinite resource. As Les said when fish school to spawn they are extremely vulnerable which is why many species are protected during this time. Even if the perch population isnt falling what would it hurt to cut back in some manner just to insure the future.
  12. Gotta enjoy it when you can and certainly nobody does that more than you Kevin!
  13. You dont! As long as the dogs dont bay up or circle tight you just wait for them to chase the yote off the posted property. Usually not a huge problem If you let landowners know what is going on ahead of time and stay off the posted property. I have all but given it up except a few places. This year we havent had snow yet in those places and everybody has been travelling to snow. I dont go because i cant be getting tickets or even toeing the line for a coyote. 24 years ago when i first started going we literally were able to go anywhere....and did, but times change and being uneasy as you stated is NOT an enjoyable way to be afield for me. I feel extremely lucky to have been able to expose my son to things like deer drives, predator calling, hound hunting, and pond fishing when you could pretty much go anywhere you wanted and explore and enjoy without exactly knowing the property lines.
  14. Either way ill never buy ethanol free unless it has a dedicated pump...i only buy 1 gallon at a time so i can use it up without it sitting
  15. That explains alot....thanks for sharing Joe! It should be illegal if it isnt!
  16. The perch in that specific area dont stand a chance....sad
  17. The riggers are worth it imo and if the plugs on the riggers are good just get cannon flush mount power ports for 15 bucks each. Dont know how to get under the bow to bolt your terrova on, but somebody here must have a boat like yours...
  18. Much greater challenge to safely release a big one than to kill it especially if you want pics and measurements...i need to upgrade my livewell pump so i can use a hose and i have ice jugs on hand so guests get pics and measurements.
  19. I personally wont get a 50....highly unlikely as the only time i ever get one is solo or casting light tackle...now someone on my boat...still a long shot but perhaps! I dont know if i could kill the next state record just to have it in my name if it was actually me that caught it...doubt i could the more i think about it
  20. Old man, Glad you said it as I wanted to...you cant say in one breath how you want a 50+ and keep a 47 in the next....the article is nothing but a fluff piece with no real point to it. It so rare fish and lakes get some attention in mainstream press and every time the writers dont even get into any issues. Just hero stuff...how about conservation, education, promoting ethical fishing to our next generation. How about everyone calling them a science project...they do occur naturally, and in fact the world record WASNT stocked. The comments after the piece prove there's a real story and real issues.
