His son jeff, "miss em" here on the forum, makes them i believe. Ive used them on jeffs boat and they are VERY nice. Id have them if i could afford them!!☺
Ive caught a few mid to upper 40's fish, but a 50 is very elusive! That being said 40's were hard to find just a few years ago and now they are common. Raise the limit and one has to assume we will catch bigger fish!
They are cut on a 45 and bevelled...i have a little final sanding/polishing to do...i bevelled the leading edge and added a 3rd bolt in the front to keep weeds from catching between the keel and boat
Thought id share my keel design for anyone running otters on a lake where weedmats are an issue. After discussing my idea with instigator this is what I came up with. The keels are 0.125 aluminum. The top of the keels measure 16" and the bottom measure 8". I kept the stock full weight and didnt weight the other keel to keep the overall weight the same. Hopefully the angle will shed the weeds enough to eliminate running them in so often to get weeds off! Instigator made a set as well...maybe he will post his pics too...
I pretty much exclusively fish hardbaits whether trolling or casting. Occasionally we jig em...didnt even know that lure till i looked it up...then i recognized it at least...☺
We use very similar stuff for bait fishing big walleye....last time i used em i was pinning large suckers to the bottom bout 2 weeks ago...we never got snagged in a spot where everybody has trouble. They work well drifting too but this is much fussier getting just the right weight.
Pap,
I wont have smart troll this year for sure...it would be nice but i dont mind using my tm to tweak speed. Im gonna run bags to get speed down and have better control...gas is cheap now! The 25 will idle at 1.2- 1.5 on my boat...im sure this wont...
Im upgrading to a 60hp this year and selling my 25. Motor runs well and served me well. I am keeping the controls and asking $1100. It has power trim. Pm, text, or call me with any questions.
You get better sponsorship (rods, reels, and tackle)as a co angler in BASS opens than you get as a guide and you dont even need a boat...sponsors jump at tournament BASS fishermen.
Led's are on this years list but my new motor is cutting into my budget...i want red ones so i can scout walleye without pressuring them and the people who live around the lake will probably appreciate it too.
Major televised tournaments require huge sponsors, usually boat and motor manufacturers. If there isnt a market for new boat sales then its never gonna be televised on a major network. I agree with Gill on more drama in a salmon tournament, but bass fishing is gonna rule because they buy new boats regularly.
Truth be known there isnt too many die hards out there....i admit i dont break up the shore ice on the river during the day so i can go back and fish that night for eyes anymore...way to grind!
Doesnt matter what group of sportsman or people in general you cross section there is a lot of people that refuse to follow the laws and plenty more that are just bad people that ruin it for someone else. Just like the slobs that killed the fish and stripped the eggs on 4 mile creek....we shouldn't even have to have a law to prevent that sort of thing...people are not all basically good
