I love karma!!! Had the exact same thing happen to me only i got pushed out repeatedly into a weed slick i wanted no part of and i couldnt get rid of my shadow no matter how much i changed speed. I could have turned out and fouled a dozen lines but all i wanted was him to either lead or follow. Finally i hooked up then second rod fires. We fight both fish in on the side he couldnt see tho he tried with binoculars all the while im saying huge walleye...big fish...what a double....fish of a lifetime...etc. Was a bass and a 4 lb eye but he didnt know that and got pissed and left. He saw me catch a couple earlier when he passed me and i think he was trying to figure out what i was running...if he had hollered id have told him. There's so much lake and so much info out there with social media i dont understand what is so hard that pushes people to extremes just to catch a fish. Stop chasing boats, turn off the marine radio and just go fishing...its really quite fun doing it yourself.

Lure's-ones that work
justtracytrolling replied to reillym's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Ive always felt people wash too many lures....pick a few staples and run them....that way at the end of the day you know whether or not to use those lures next time...if you constantly change when they do turn on you think...oh its the lure....then you run that lure till it has no paint and never works again because it really was a timing thing....you have to eliminate some variables in order to draw any reasonable conclusions. Come up with a plan and then execute it but dont keep changing the plan. As far as the radio goes shut it off and fish unless you have a network of people whose info is really good and they won't mislead you. The secret weapon is lots of time on the water LEARNING. -
Attach your go pro above the weight below the release...i wouldn't attach anything to the weight except the rigger cable.

Its funny how many people expect epic fishing every fall....fish hard, enjoy the water, enjoy the company you keep and good fishing should be a bonus. Yeah we all get frustrated occasionally and always want more fish and bigger fish, but if you cant simply enjoy yourself without catching a world class fish you are missing out on just how special the outdoors is and the freedom we have to enjoy it. Its the not knowing what will happen next the makes it exciting even when its slow. Its not like there isnt any fish to catch.. -

Nice report jeff....some of the guys here in the fingers make it seem so easy, but in reality they are really good trollers....i know you'll keep at it and keep learning! Best part is the figuring it out and anyone who will fish all night from a kayak is willing to do the work and thats all it takes!

Fishing here has been stellar here for quality tigers all season! 40" + fish are commonplace. I took a father and son out this week... all the boy wanted was to catch a big tiger....only managed 1 bite in 4 hours....fish was the biggest of the year at 43...seems like almost every tiger we catch deep is a 40 or nearly, and if you work shallower numbers are also possible. As far as idiots arguing over fish goes i posted a pic of Tracy's big tiger on another forum i no longer participate on and and i had 100 experts telling me it wasnt a tiger....of course none of the experts could produce pics of real tigers they caught... -

I got out with salty seaman this morning hoping for a decent king...just like monday and just like 2 weeks ago with miss em. My first two trips were uneventful to say the least, but had fun and learned some along the way. Today was no banner day by any means, but we managed 3 bites in 6 hours landing 1 small coho down 75 over 120 on 8" green protroll with a green fly off a riggers at about 8am. We broke off a nice fish mid air 400' behind the boat on a mag spoon off a 10 color core with a clip weight. Then at 1230 95' riggers with flasher fly starts screaming and doesn't stop till we are getting low on line. Took me forever to get the fish to the boat and just when im think she's done she takes off and passes the boat way out on the starboard side. I fought the fish over the bimini for a bit until Jim got back out in front. When jim finally got it netted after a couple blow ups behind the boat i had my first king from the lake, a 25 pounder! Some might say the fishing is off, but im happy to have had to put a little time in! Amazing fishery!

Bullying at Bluffers

If you want the offending captain to see the error in his ways you have to call him out. From what you've described I'd say that the captain has no respect for himself, his customers, his business, or his family name. That type of immature behavior is usually corrected at adolescence. Perhaps he thinks he acting professional and dressing for success. .. -
Not so good this morning!!! I decided to fish 8-12 today as the bite picked up yesterday later in the morning, not to mention the fact we smoked a pork loin and drank beer all day yesterday into the night so we all were a bit happy to sleep in! It was all smallmouth bass today and none of em real big. It was slow enough and weed free enough we ran 15 lines without an eye. Tomorrow its back to an early start if we dont night fish tonight.
