  1. Got out this morning from 630-1030 with matt bubba and Matt's son Dallas. I didnt have high expectations with what i heard from the last few days, but was pleasantly surprised to have a solid bite on the same pattern as 2 weeks ago. We went 3-4 on eyes 4 smb a low 30's tiger and had about 8 good shots that we couldnt stick. Fish were 23-27" and all came between 23-25 feet down over 50+ 2.5 to 2.8 GPS speed after 730am. Here is a pic of the biggest one a 7.5 pounder. Ill try to put up some more pics.
  2. Absolutely amazing catch! Nice work captain Bruce! Im anxiously awaiting a story....
  3. Hard to run 9 or 12 on oneida with the amount of fish and weeds! I like it best when i can only keep 2 lines in because im always fighting fish....got a good moon this weekend for night trolling!
  4. Glad to hear the thief was arrested! Too often they get away with it.
  5. Good report and good work! Glad to know summer walleye fishing there is still good for a troller! I found the faster I went the better i did!
  6. I should mention the buck John helped me find was hit well and died quick enough, but because of a tough steep angle the arrow was hanging out of the sternum, the deer couldnt bed, and covered some serious ground before dropping dead. With a good fixed blade Cody would have had a pass thru and the deer would have bedded immediately and been recovered without incident. BTW i wouldn't take the shot with any broadhead...I'd wait and get a better shot next time...but after over 25 years ive learned you dont HAVE to shot just because you could.
  7. If anyone needs tracking help I'd highly recommend John and his dog. They helped me find a buck my son shot that was one I'd never have found without help. The buck was shot with a rage.....I personally love the rages and have shot about 20 deer with them with no problem, but and its a big but....they suck if you miss forward....they are the best broadhead for shots 100% BEHIND the shoulder and NOT at difficult angles made from FAST upper end equipment. If this sounds like the shots you take the rages will be great....on the other hand if you know you will take what the deer gives you do yourself and the deer a favor and shoot a durable fixed blade. Confidence is everything and if you are happy with what you use dont change just because someone on tv uses something different.
  8. For anyone trolling smb try going faster if they won't take it slow. A fast trolled medium diving crank can make smallies fire like a missile off the bottom. Ive had them go airborne without releasing from the board line. 2.5 to 3+ GPS speed is the range i work when looking for a reaction bite and a feeding bite seems impossible. Fished an area of cranberry a couple years ago with 6 of us pounding the water for hours without a bite...trolled the same cranks faster than we could reel them and had many doubles, a couple triples and had 4 airborne smb at the same time once. Often times we rely too much on how we used to catch fish instead of thinking outside the box. Fisheries change and we have to too....
  9. Dont be stubborn...hire a charter and save yourself time and money...learn from a professional.
  10. You can get run over anywhere! Even with only 2 boats on the water.
  11. Good stuff guys....people helping people....sounds like i need a morning on cayuga!
  12. Pm sent
  13. Great work guys! Tough fishery and you guys make it look like oneida! Keep em coming
  14. No idea what the lake record is but i usually check the weights of the 2 or 3 tournaments a week and ive seen many around 6 pounds. They are using a better scale than mine too...seems like someone must have caught a seven pounder. The largies go quite a bit bigger yet...
  15. The fish was between 20-21. Ive been trying off and on my whole adult life for a 22" and the closest ive come was a 21.75" out of the Susquehanna musky fishing a spot my son took me to....i did 3 skis that night too. We have had several 21's from Otisco too. Should have been Jeff's (meathunter) fish, but he wasn't quick enough to the rod so he got to take the pic. I think we got one just as big together last summer too... Jespy, I honestly seldom target smallies, but in the dead of summer on Otisco trolling would be as good a way as any. If fish are suspended on bait fairly deep its not that easy any other way. Smallies like it fast say 2.5 to 3.5 if you decide to give it a try. The rapala dt series bass cranks work well and you can flat line the 20's to nearly 40 feet on thin braid. The new big kvd model gets well over 20 casting it so it probably would troll to 40' but it pulls very hard.
  16. Anyone buying without a sea trial and a survey better know a lot about the boat or you really have to trust the seller and even then I'd want both!
  17. Fish was caught just north of the rip rap above the marina in 50+Fow
  18. Caught this 6 pounder a couple weeks ago with meathunter night trolling on a flicker shad down 23 off a downrigger with spin tackle. We get plenty of 4-6 pounders throughout a season and some longer than this one, but this is the fattest one ive personally seen from Otisco.
  19. I run up to 225' feet back on deep divers and up to 150' feet out on boards...only if I have 4-5 people. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. I was pleasantly surprised this morning when Matt's daughter Sophia got up at 515 to fish with us. Still ended up starting late and had lines in by 6. Overall it was a slow but beautiful morning. Sophia has been on the boat many times, but hasn't really been able to handle fighting a fish while trolling until this year. She did a fantastic job today bringing in her first walleye ever, a 6 pounder she reeled in from 300 feet back. As it turned out the fish choked a tdd11 and never would have come off, but she did well enough to catch 1 barely hooked. The only exciting part was watching Matt botch the netting! Eventually somehow the fish hit the deck and neither father or daughter coulda been happier! We had 3 good shots we didnt stick, but we caught the fish we came for.....
  21. Great job and great photo! You certainly can make a case for the three more rods if you have that pic with you...yes officer he's fishing...and its not even his first time! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Kevin, I definitely think that daytime is often better than night on a new moon. I time my walleye tourney on it...not that its helped either year. Hard part about walleye fishing is being there when they do turn on....As you know that's why they are so hard to pattern.
  23. Thanks guys! After I couldnt catch any eyes shallow with meathunter 2 weeks ago trolling at night on a full moon I knew the water was finally warm enough for the first time in 2 years for good summer trolling. Since then I 've pulled at least 1 eye 6 trips out fishing 3-4 hours each time. Now I certain what I wanna run so next time out will be first try at really zeroing in on what's working with every rod in the spread. Up till now I've been covering my bases making sure i knew what they wanted. Anybody want more info than that you'll have to pm me....I will say there seems to be an infinite number of ways not to catch em and very little working....but Im thinking im getting close. Daylight walleyes are beautiful thing here!!!!!
  24. Late start this morning as Matt n Dallas couldnt get up and didnt get lines in till 630. Still managed to go 2-4 on our first pass with a 24" n a 22"
