  2. Otisco Lake Guide Service will be hosting the second annual walleye event July 18 at Otisco Lake Campground and Marina. Tournament will start at 6am and end at 2 must leave from campground. Format is simply big fish and pays 2 or 3 places depending on turnout. Weigh in at 2:15 cookout immediately following. This year I'm providing burgers, dogs, sausage, rolls, condiments, and bbq'd bacon wrapped walleye scallops. Cost will be $25 per boat 100% return cookout is free and bring a dish to pass. Sign up here....event will be open to anyone wishing to participate. Last year we had a dozen boats and everyone had a great time. Anyone wanting to participate from my boat can book that day for $200 up 4 people...35% off normal! Fishing will be tough most likely.
  3. All days can't be gems! As you know our rv is right by the launch and it never ceases to amaze me how many boaters can't launch and load a boat. Of course I'm not waiting so its a fine spectator sport Sunday afternoons with the adult beverage of your choice!
  4. Perch is hard to beat! If you think you are on fish and can't get them to go don't be afraid to rip up off bottom a little harder than you'd think. Reaction bite works and I think it weeds out the dinks.
  5. Nice work! Once you figure out how not to catch the little guys you are on to something. For me it was up size and up speed on Oneida.
  6. Nice work Kevin! I've been looking forward to seeing walleyes posing for their pictures in your lawn!!!
  7. There are medium sized ones caught that certainly aren't 7 years old. The problem with using caught fish as your measuring stick is the small ones are nearly impossible to catch even if they are there. On Otisco where they have been stocked we see less than a handful of small eyes a season....like maybe 2-3% out of hundreds.

  10. Nice work Ed! At least you got out and bent a rod. Kinger must have known it wasnt gonna be a banner day!! I tried to take my walleye hound last friday night but he wouldnt even go outside...too cold for him and too comfy in bed with tracy!!! I see a few upgrades since i was on last fall. Is everything the way you want it yet? I gotta figure out the steering motor in my terrova...it basically doesn't work at all....if its not one thing its another.
  11. Ditto what old man said. Plenty of places that are much easier for a do it yourself trip to get your feet wet.
  12. Original floating in shad or vampire not jointed are my favorites, but I've caught on both perch patterns also. I use em nearly 100% in fall and throw em in spring when i know im on fish and they quit hitting bombers. I use em as a change up. I haven't trolled em that much, but i know they troll em in Oswego.
  13. Is the Chautauqua event an OPEN event? With the rescheduling i could probably make it if my team is interested. Chautauqua kicked my butt last time and I'd like another try!!!
  14. Let me start by saying I love the muskies inc event on otisco and the format. Steve, Brad, and Jim do a great job and my whole team cant wait till next year! Could someone cheat? Of course, but that is their loss because they are missing the point!! Its all about a bunch of guys getting together and having fun. On my boat we cast and troll in the muskies inc tiger tourney. I never get the trolling fish because I'm driving and there is always someone closer and we NEVER pass a rod or wait for the right person to pick up the rod because that was my interpretation of the rules. We fish like we are all on the same team and share prize money , but all fish are entered by the individual who reeled it in. This year i didn't run big boards or more than 1 inline per side because I tried to keep things fair. We had 5 on the boat and only trolled 4 lines with a person nearly holding each rod when i easily could have run a dozen or more rods. We have boated 5 in 2 events and the same guy caught all 5. Both events it was only 1 lure that did the work and i only had 1 of that lure each time and Scotty wasn't sharing.... after he caught he never said anybody wanna switch lures with me!
  15. I doubt owasco is rebounding from no walleye being stocked as the lake rebounded before the last stocked walleye were fully mature. As for taste I've caught and fileted as many finger lake alewife fed eyes as anyone out there in the last five years and out of the 100 people or so that have ate them i haven't had a complaint.
  16. Sounds like 50 day fingerlings to me.
  17. Did they say if they stocked them as 50 day fingerlings. With the success of that program on Otisco it has made it possible to stock more waters. It is far cheaper and the fish are stocked prior to changing their diet and they have twice as many fingerlings to stock.
  18. Its a shame the powers at be don't agree....i guess we don't have near enough trout in the finger lakes...the best eating gamefish in Owasco is the only one they won't stock...the walleye are native to the area unlike all but lake trout
  19. Read in the walleye forum....there are many reports....Oneida is literally full of walleye and every technique I've ever heard of works there if done correctly.
  20. Is the DEC ok with an in the water measurement? The last conversation I had on the subject with the region 7 guys left me frustrated as they wanted exact measurements of the tigers. This year I'm measuring them at least till water warms.
  21. Not too tough to get a 9-10 lb eye there....for few more years anyways! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Andy, That's a really cool idea...if she hasnt done Otisco it is mid 70s and launch is open and $9. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. 30' is no gain compared to the thin super braids...seaguar 20lb will get you bout 34 at 2,3,4,or even 5 mph. Even 10lb mono will get you about 30. Speed is only a factor in weight dependant trolling... ie lead core, copper, clip weights tho when they are combined with a deep divers clip weights become far less speed dependant. Precision trolling lays it all out for you in curves and explanation. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
