I had Scotty, Matt, his boy Dallas, and John aboard for the tourney today. Our plan was troll fairly shallow,10-20 fow, from spot to spot and mostly cast. After 3 hours we switched to mostly trolling and we ended up connecting on 3 tigers and landing 2 , a 31 and big fish for the tourney 37.5. Black n chrome cm11 did all the work and never moved another rod. Scotty caught both and we were happy taking 3rd and the big fish pot. I'll post pics once I download them. Overall lots tigers caught and we had a great time seeing a few old faces and meeting some new ones, and think we had 49 anglers. Special thanks old man for the cookout and Zach for a couple of his awesome lures. I'm gonna put em to some good use. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

FrIday I went out to that spot and I was hearing just a bit of bass action and caught plenty of bass on bombers. I thought of you later that night i caught the biggest smb of my life in front of the wall...it was almost 23 " found some eyes there too. After this weekend ill start posting...I let the shore guys have their time....it was tough driving past the causeway action opening weekend

Green hornet the action they are referring to hasn't really started as of last Saturday night. I would guess that action will improve this weekend. 2 weeks ago zero alewife spawning action....last week just a tiny bit...I'd say that we should start pulling limits this weekend from somewhere other than the causeway....but i thought it would start last weekend too...! No matter what it will be easy soon!

That's the attitude that caused the Dec to stop stocking, and now you wanna fish for them? Funny....good luck!

Owasco is definitely not a waste!! I will say there is a long list of lakes that are easier to fish though! There are a handful of guys who still do very well on them! I wish I could help you on trolling tips for Owasco, but what I know isnt mine to share. Sounds like you arent to far off the mark if you caught eyes targeting them.

2015 Otisco Lake Tiger Tournament
justtracytrolling replied to muskiedreams's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
So true old man! We have 4 ponds on our farm and the fishing is really easy and the bass are big. Yet my son travels all over to bass fish and catch less. Bass fishing just bores me to death anymore. We catch so many monster bass walleye fishing at night and its so easy its hard for me to sit in the hot sun and work my butt off for less fish. -

Nice work! Im glad you hung in there. I know how much time, effort, and money you put into learning the ropes. Most guys give up on walleyes in the finger lakes before they figure it out. I remember how optimistic you were last season and how much you struggled, so I was glad to hear from you this season and even happier you caught some. Keep at it and you will get em dialed in.

Nice!!! I figured somebody found a fish or two...glad you did! The one I made contact with was north of the narrows. Great just to bend a rod. I probably would have landed mine had I not gotten caught up enjoying the fight. I normally lean on them more. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

I will guide for tigers anyway you wanna catch them....on the fly, spin tackle, baitcaster, trolling deep with boards, fast trolling weedlines with 1 rod while you hold it and try to steer around the weeds. The only way that is NOT an option on my boat is bait for tigers. Of course there isnt any guaranteed method I know of...you have to earn em one way or another.

Ive put full seasons in with 2 and 1 pound dia and if you are fishing for perch it's gotta be the perfect line, but for bigger fish like walleye and tigers its not great. If you pay close attention to damage to the line and are skilled using it you wont have problems, but if you arent a careful, skilled fisherman or fish in the dark Id avoid going below 4 lb dia and dont go below 8lb dia on a baitcaster or conventional round reels. I personally like the light stuff but I wont ever have it on my rods again unless it will only be me using it.

I made it out last night for 3 hours and though we didn't get any takers we found a few fish and decent amount of bait on shore in the area I focus on first. Checked my later spot and I didn't find any fish or bait. The area I work is way ahead of last season and Ill be on em next weekend for sure. I'd also like to make everyone aware that I am now a New York State Licensed Guide #7324. Ill have a website soon, but for now you can reach me at (607) 349-1750 with any questions or to book a trip. Full night spring walleye trips start at 200 for 2 anglers. Bring your own food for the grill or it can be provided. Weekend packages including lodging and even meals are available.

There are some crappie in and biting on the north end. Don't have much more info, but the north end isn't that big.
