  1. I'm so ready! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Great topic Les. There should be a lot more cooperators than there is. I realize its a PIA if you fish a lot, but participating is beneficial to us all. I dont fill out data too often for browns or tigers in Otisco because the DEC insists they be measured accurately and I dont like handling fish im going to release.
  3. Hermit, Was just thinking bout you today....we gotta take Cody's new bass boat out and jig lakers sometime. On my way up to lake now to open the RV and start staining the deck. Hopefully this spring will be as good as last year! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Brent Im 100% in agreement and will continue to bring up the stocking issues everytime I email or speak to the DEC. I do believe a state launch would help the cause, but a state launch isnt a popular idea to anyone using the lake already. Otisco will never get known for walleye like Oneida because they are way to hard to target for 90% of anglers unless you fish at night. Oneida walleye fishing is like bass fishing in small farm pond in difficulty compared to Otisco I get a bunch of guys that want info every year and after a try or two most give up. The few guys that target them during the day are all good trollers and all of them get humbled plenty often.
  5. Hard to believe how many species are targeted when spawning, but if its legal, easy, and big fish there's gonna be crowds eventually. I think its great guys are enjoying them, but the state isnt stocking replacements and eventually reproduction wont keep up. And dont get me started on the subject of selling perch...just takes a big group to say no more...
  6. Otisco will never get fish like Oneida. The biggest reason is there is no natural reproduction. Otisco has definitely gained interest and catch rates are near record highs, but lets face the fact that during the summer very few anglers target walleye. As opposed to Oneida where there are tons of guys everyday that the season is open winter included. Any fish the DEC stocks are put there for the masses, and simply put the majority of walleye anglers in central NY DONT fish Otisco. I hope that more anglers will enjoy Otisco's super fat walleye and therefore we will have a bigger voice in getting fish. If walleye were as popular as Tigers are in Otisco we would get fish every year and more of them.
  7. I had the same problem with my trailer when I bought it new. I took it back to Bass Pro and they checked the above mentioned items and said that the tires they put on their trailers new often had trouble as they were cheap. They had a set of Goodyears put on free of charge and I havent had any wear issues since. Didnt make much sense to me, but its been great since. These pics are of my original tires after a month and a half of use.
  8. It always amazes me when boats fish on top of shore spot. I bought my boat to be able to fish where I cant fish from shore and so I could have a little room to fish.
  9. Priceless pics! Thanks for sharing!!
  10. Ive more than expressed my feeling to the DEC on this last year...its total BS...I will send another email out though. That being said I feel there are some good guys in region 7 that are on our side. It is my impression that they are trying to get walleye for us on the odd years. We nearly got fish last year so I was told...whatever that means. If this happens and we only lose 1-2 stocking years in a 10 year period I doubt it will hurt us. I do support stocking other waters, but in addition to the successful current programs, not at the expense of those waters.
  11. I think a rule change on how we harvest bait is worth a look, and seems like if bait was salted and frozen you should be able to transport and use it in other bodies.
  12. The alewives wipe out the walleye fry on Otisco, but they are also the reason the stocked walleyes are so fat and thick. I certainly wouldnt want them spreading to even more lakes.
  13. In my case im using them in the same body of water and not travelling with them. Guess I need a gill net...I really want to use a cast net. The alewives are regulated because they arent in every body of water yet!
  14. I see cast nets used on Otisco on a daily basis, but that doesnt make it legal for me to do it. I have even seen a walleye taken with a cast net. A gill net seems like more PIA, but the regs clearly say they are legal.
  15. I can snag em no prob, but they often times arent very lively after being snagged.
  16. Nice fish! Thanks for sharing.
  17. I was planning on using a little bait this year in a meat rig Ed gave me, and at night instead of casting sticks. I have few guests that bait would be easier for them. I figured I could get them in a cast net at night when they are on shore. Is it legal to use a cast net? The regs arent clear to me. I know you can use a gill net and I suppose that would be doable for me.
  18. Tony has mast lights too...If you ever setup in the dark or troll at night they are awesome. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. I found out there is an old boat lift down there. Talk about an instant nightmare, but we didn't lose any gear and I didn't get too excited. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. BTW, I certainly didn't catch anywhere near 206 eyes...that includes everyone on my boat. No way to get numbers without guests aboard. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Learn the section right above the marina...right near where I snagged up a rigger ball...you can limit there almost every night once you figure it out. Lots of guys fishing there, but I know of 2 guys that do well in that area. Its a bit deeper there and hj's will beat out floaters. Its all about putting your time in and paying your dues! If all else fails I know a guy who can put you on fish! . Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Looks like a Great Lakes Planer's.... I love mine! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Chris, Ontario is a piece of cake....just follow Greg and bring ur bombers! Lol! I still think Devin put a GPS tracker on magic eyes....he figured em out pretty fast! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. 206 is easy...fish 4 days a week for 6 months....the hard part is finding a woman who will let you!! Tracy is what makes it possible!! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Any topic that involves the trib fishing will be absurd....apparently it is difficult to be an adult AND talk about trout streams. Thanks to a select few and King Davy there was some educational and well thought out points made.
