  1. I coulda tried to get numbers after, but i didnt think a possible confrontation in the dark with intoxicated strangers in boats was prudent. I wanted one....but ive gotten wiser. I know we have to police our own....but sometimes its better to move along. Plus I cant run anyone down in my boat unless they want to be caught....some guys can canoe faster! Could have been worse and when you fish as much as i do things happen... Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Nice report jeff...classic oneida bag! Love the perch! I have a bunch of identical looking pics from my days up there before I ended up here....i must be crazy, but im addicted to the challenge. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Good job guys...tough with no tackle! Ive run those bigger lures in high water temps in oneida and its slow, but the fish i caught were over 20inches. Once i downsized it was a busy day with little walleye....you guys should get your flatlines going down here at night. Im not pounding em most nights but no trouble getting 2-3 good fish. Pm me if you wanna just come fish and skip the boat hauling and launching etc. Dusk to dark deep then move up and flatline shallow bout hour after dark. 4. I do agree the further forward the tighter the turn but if I need more maneuverability i go smaller...if you run your boards out a full 150 feet you arent gonna follow the steep structure of the finger lakes and if you are out in the open you wont need as much maneuverability...and when there is peak traffic there is so little water for the number of boats you wont go wide. Best advice is get on a couple boats try their setups and get what YOU need for what YOU plan to do on Owasco. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Alex, I use both inlines and big boards both on the finger lakes. Inlines shine when you are running less lines and following tight structure, when there is alot of floating scattered weeds and mats, and during peak boat traffic. Big boards are best when you have some help on board and run more lines, rough water, and not much floating weeds. There are days on Otisco that before you can get 3 lines per side in my otters are weeded and its a fire drill. I started with masts on the bow like many have mentioned, but now my pulleys are 18 inches in front of my trees. I hated not being able to reach the tow line to clip releases on so I switched to a glp captains pak with the 18 inch offset bar. Ive never had the tow line touch my rods with this setup. Im not far from you if you wanna try before you buy. Here is a pic of my setup. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  7. Great idea legacy! We have a go pro now and i think i will try to post more hunting. Ill be taking next saturday off from fishing to open camp so we are ready. October is busy because we have 2 camps open...with some of our best hunting early and october is my best walleye fishing. Cant wait to read all of everyones tales! 8. One more thought...most guys targetting musky, tigers etc practice catch and release...we understand conservation for future angling....whats the point if the next generation is too busy watching tv and playing video games. Id like to see more pics of kids and muskies in all our posts. Yeah you will lose more fish and they will make mistakes but who really cares. Kids are capable of far more than sunnies under a float not that they dont enjoy that too, but they want to do what we do also. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Ivan thanks for sharing....this is the place to talk about taking kids out fishing and discuss our responsibilities as sportsman and role models. I personally would love to see EVERY sportsman out there make point to take a kid fishing....not your child...though thats great...some kid with ZERO opportunity to get on the water. We all owe our exposure to fishing to someone special...be that guy for someone else! Kudos to anyone going out of their way to take time with a child...as for poor role models like the one you mention...i see no use for them! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Kevin im certainly not walleye fishing much when there is heavy boat traffic. This stuff is happening with 1 or 2 other boats on the whole lake. Im pretty sure the problem boats are drinking heavily based on what i hear of their conversations. Boating and alcohol dont go together well... at least the person driving should refrain. 11. Friday i got the chance to check out the pse crossbow my buddy got and its absolutely ridiculus! Ill be tuning it this week and ill try to post some video. Before anyone says its too expensive its 1600 bucks! But for anyone who can swing it so far its more accurate at 100 yds than most smoothbore shotguns. I see a few of these at my house in the future. I cant wait for crossbow season! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. I suppose you dont have electric riggers or a motor on the boat? We are already using all kinds of technology whats the difference. If someone wants or needs some help with long coppers its fine by me. There still is no wrong legal way of fishing. Sk8man how do you figure depth when you weight a shorter cooper? 13. We had our end of season campground cookout and just ate all day yesterday! Winds here were almost damaging and the lake was way to rough unless you had to fish...and i sure didnt! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Great pics and great fish Devin thanks for sharing! Did you pull the big boat yet? Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. I want to thank my better half for surprising me by having my good friends matt, phil (he rebuilt the boat with me in his shop for free!) Wyatt, and Joe meet us at camp for some walleye fishing. Les, I dont share my trained walleyes! John, Thanks for your patience...i planned on just the 2 of us and ended up with 7 guys on the boat!!! We went back out and made the exact same pass but shallow. Ended up landing 1 more keeper a toss back barely 18 and some bass. We lost several fish and many short hits. Had chaos when a passing boat crowded me up against a dock and i squeezed us through. Then they cut in across my lines...i tightened the drag and attemptted breaking them or spooling them...braid wins these tug o wars usually...but they actually turned around and ran up on my spread before getting spooled for their lure. I kept going faster to keep em outta my flatlines while we reeled all our gear in....PIA! ANYONE that is new to trolling, especially at night should ask some questions on here and if you arent new you know better! You CANT be more lit up than me and there is NO excuse for the bs here lately. Im pretty sick of guys that run into my gear. I share, help guys, answer questions and then the guys drive over me... Here's the deal when 2 trollers are hugging shore approaching eachother 1 HAS to turn into the lake...Now i dont care if you want to pass real close i do it but you better know the contours and dont snag me. The guy pinned on shore CANT turn. Now I give courtesy the first time we pass and next time we pass you turn and give me courtesy. NOBODY gets the shore every pass. Next thing...you DONT motor by a troller and then get in front and drop gear and when approaching head on you dont turn around quick and troll right in front of someone. If there other boats trolling a section dont pull in right in front anchor and start jigging wait till they go by then go in tight as possible or get there first. Pay attention to the other boat he may be fighting a fish or short handed and might need a little more space. Always figure a boat may have boards, dipsies out to side, and long lines...plan accordingly. You have to share and nobody can say i dont!! Sorry for the rant but enough is enough Still had a fun night with a great bunch of guys. Nothing more fun than watching Phil and his son get and see their first walleyes...especially after all the work and material they put in my boat plus having a major project in there shop taking up space. THANK YOU PHIL SLATER! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  17. No doubt the guy is in serious trouble, but to me his attitude is the saddest part.
  18. Enjoy Larry! Small price to pay for quality time and quality fishing.
  19. Its a damn good thing we cant sell the fish we catch because Id never come home! Finger lakes walleye would bring a small fortune if anyone knew how hard they were to come by!!!
  20. I know the feeling Kevin! Good work as always! Ill be back out tonight....
  21. Its that time Kevin! We have some nice two and half year old 8 pointers, but havent gotten any mature bucks yet. Though we havent gotten cameras too far off the beaten path yet.
  22. Couldnt agree more Ivan. There is no right answer that fits all applications. Everyone has to take what they read and APPLY it to their fishing situation. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Nice job as always Kevin. Hermit and I went 3-4, but the one we lost is why I fish the moon...never know size for sure till its in the net...but wow could easily have been the biggest ever on my boat. The rod wasnt in my hands to feel the fish but I saw the fish and the hit was really something on a 10.5 foot dipsey rod flatlined like an outrigger. 24. I use 50 pound seaguar blue and never use steel, BUT as Steve mentioned you really have to check for damage often. Weeds DO wear leaders big time at musky speeds. IMO as long as you pay attention to detail many things will work, but if you dont nothing holds up to muskies! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. On a positive note my son and his buddy just came back from the BASS northern open on St Clair and accidental muskies encounters and catches were common so the fishery is excellent. Cody said the pros and coanglers did a good job removing hooks and leaving the fish in the water. Seems BASS is doing it better than local tourneys ive seen.
