  1. We usually get fish "on shore" at night as well as what you are describing. I think the alewives are almost done. Only have a month or so left for a summer pattern to set up. The big walleye will be on shore by October so trolling isnt gonna last long if it ever gets good. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Kings fight and they use wire and copper. Our walleye fight just as much just have to bend the rod and reel em in steady and smooth. They use wire and copper in erie too. Zero stretch works fine on walleye. 10 Pound mono wont even pull kevins bottom bouncers. Techniques vary, and every line has its uses...plus i like messing with devin. He gets plenty of big walleye and certainly is doing a fine job with mono. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Did you find any areas with boiling bait? The alewive action was the lowest ive seen since may. We still had it boiling but a lot less. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Devin, You always tell me nobody uses braid....lol!! Kevin and I do...for somethings anyway. I like the clips up near the surface so the lure still dives to your desired depth even with weeds on the weedguards. Inline boards work well as weed guards too. 5. The blue prism makes a difference. The group on the end said they didnt get any, and had the looks on their faces that made it believable. Lanterns and waving spotlights in very shallow flat water is never gonna be a consistant producer on big eyes here. You prob shoulda hit the rocks above the marina. Causeway has been busy and loud. We had very few active fish last night and most were bass. The few walleye we had around wouldnt hit top water. A breeze would have helped! I tried 4" gulp paddle tail rigged weedless on a big weighted swimbait hook. I only managed bass, but it fished very well in the worst weeds. Biggest fish was a nearly 20 inch largie that was a personal best for bubba. Gonna try some deeper water casting spots very soon or night trolling...least favorite option! 7. If i cant troll em in daylight gotta be a night bite going on. Definitely could night troll too....id rather cast tho...all nighter tonight again. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Ive been using the clips with out weights as weed guards on flat lines or big board lines. Its all about overcoming the obstacles. Helps when you love it too! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Got out with meathunter737 and buddy bubba last night. We ended up with a 4lber, 5lber, and 6lber. Along with tons of bass keeping 7. Blue prism bomber did the eyes and anything worked on bass. Fish were caught in 2fow or less. Gonna try a midmorn troll in a few. Pics to follow. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I get the same thing when im catching well. It takes a ton of work to pattern eyes. My advice to people is to really read the older material. Kevin and others have posted the answer to most st lawrence questions just gotta do the research and do the work and fish. Thanks for all the posts kevin. 11. Hermit let me know when if you wanna get out. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. The east side has just as many fish, points, and drops too! My biggest walleye, tiger and smb have come on the east side. Usually weedier than west side for trolling, but for what you are doing its fine. Check out the shelf by the amber fire rescue boat. West side can be crowded especially at night on the points. 13. The structure most guys jig are the west side points and drops. Side scan really helps identify these spots, and there is always fish on these spots. I dont jig much, but not because it doesnt work. Im just more into the top water action in the shallows for night fishing and I troll in daylight.
  14. Just saying....if I had 1 lure only to fish with after the weeds come up especially it would be bomber blue prism. I have most sticks and Ive compared them all while the fish were really biting and the bomber cant be beat on otisco for shallow fishing.
  15. Ill bet its 30 to 34 feet down. How fast have you been trolling? Seems like the toothy critters would be trollable.
  16. Didnt you make that mistake last time? Go get a bomber! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Wish we had warm water too...we hit 80 a month ago and its been below 75 since. Fish are scattered all over the lake and up and down the column. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Really dont need to see them on ff...there isnt much structure but if you are on it they can certainly be jigged. The ones i jigged this year were on half ounce swimbait heads with 5 inch gulp. If ypu like fishing that way go back at night and do the exact same thing.....only 10 times better fishing Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Nice Rollie! Bet they love that boat! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. What is the surface temp out there? Ill bet there is some night action somewhere there! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. What are you gonna use....bomber blue prism? I have a brand new one ready for friday... Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Nice fish Kevin! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Certainly was tough fishing, and didnt exactly catch...but better than ive been doing solo. Im gonna cast friday night all night. Water temps are gonna drop to low 70's and trolling doesnt due much till 80. Bait is still in and I think the walleye are back on shore at night. 24. You can find lots of choices online. I just googled seat post bushing. Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. You cant tighten the drag beyond what you can balance in a canoe. Ive never caught salmon, but a pike or bass could flip you if you let it. Close to shore in fall it would be fun on the right day. Offshore in a canoe....no way! Sent from my LG-L38C using Lake Ontario United mobile app
