  1. Its amazing how many "experienced anglers" just use this forum to argue and/or sell stuff. How about participating in a constructive manner. You know post FISHING REPORTS, answer questions, and if you have to get into a debate try to be respectful and stay on track. I just love the "experts" who either dont fish or wont share anything constructive. If there were no kings Id still be fishing for walleyes!
  2. The campground store has crawlers and 3 sizes of minnows/shiners. The store hours on the weekend are 6am-9pm. Nothing is cheap in the store so you either plan accordingly or pay for convenience.
  3. We are absolutely still a go! I started another thread with some updated info and an updated list of boats. added link (L&M) http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/45455-july-19th-lou-walleye-event-on-otisco-lake/?view=findpost&p=301516
  4. I have had some success with harnesses, but havent run 1 in over a year. Perch pattern on deep divers is my favorite.
  5. Yeah thats what I figured. I was running my sticks 200 - 300 feet back... 30-35 down.
  6. The campground and launch are well run and well kept now. The launch is a bit steep, but deep enough for any deep I/o. As for the eyes they just take more time to learn, but are very catchable for some. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I wanted to go over a few details for the 19th and put out a current list of boats signed up. Rules are simple and as follows. $30.00 per boat (this includes $10.00 for pavilion rental based on 20 boats) Lines in water at 5am back to weigh in at 130pm. Follow all NY fishing regulations. Cash payout 50% 1st, 30% 2nd, 20% 3rd. Everyone can bring a dish or something for the grill and their own beverages. Ill have grills, fryers, and there is electric in the pavilion. Ill be providing fish fry (walleye of course) and bbq'd bacon wrapped walleye scallops. Cookout will be after the weigh in and The DEC will be attending last I heard to talk to us about the angler diaries program and the stocking program. Here is the list of boats currently signed up. 1. JustTracyTrolling 2. rnsurfnturf 3. Pap 4. Pete Rajner 5. Miss em 6. Sluggo 7. Bait-taker 8. Final Flight 9. Ducks517 10. jgsbucker 11. Hermit 12. Eric Reed 13. Chowder 14. Fishhard23 15. Labsrus 16. Fishingskrip27 17. Ronald Allen Sellars 18. Wayne Couple open spots left and probably lose another boat or 2 so if you are interested in walleye fishing this event is a great opportunity to meet people and learn. 8. If you like beating your head against a wall and enjoy a challenge give otisco a try...she can humble anybody on any given day! Still have room for a boat or two on the 19th! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Nice job! Browns didnt say no to anything that morning. Your probe have depth? I had the 60' water about 31-32 on my fishawk plus depth....caught all my eyes at 32 on deep taildancers. Ran 1 rigger at 29 other at 32. Stop and see me at the campground next time. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Nice catch! Way to go! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Brent and I gave it a try last night trolling for a couple hours between storms. Fish were in tight and we either should have been casting or gotten out earlier. All we got for our efforts was 2 rock bass and a nice boat ride. I guess I was due for a skunk....27 trips out with an eye...streak over...Tracy and I are gonna try some mid day trolling today and see what haappens. 12. Unless its a tournament Id rather not measure any if possible with water temps beginning to soar. Reviving them is hard enough without additional handling. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Gave the crappies a try friday afternoon with my son cody. We got 10 with 12 fatheads, and the biggest was 13.5 inches. We released them for another day as we have plenty of walleye, and I like having a resident population under my dock for the kids to catch and eat. They seem to do well getting fed daily from the bait shop. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Nice work! Something to be said for going with your old standby! Way to brave the weather... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. There are slips to rent here at the campground. Im Justin...Tracy is my better half. Walleye event is the 19th. I will be updating the post later with the latest list of who is in...I think we need a boat or 2 again. Brent, They are spoiled...you are getting there too! Lol. Wayne did the filleting while Tim took Tracy and I to the Amber firemans breakfast so I guess everyone made out! Campground life is good! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Laker bite on saranac was good last august...I was on tupper, but saw a few nice catches from saranac. Good luck and enjoy! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Just about ANY deep diver will catch well fished over deep water all day all summer... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Tim, wayne, and I trolled from 5 to 9 this morning and went 9 for 9. 3 nice eyes and 2 little browns and 4 holdover browns. Thermocline is the key on the depth...there is about 2-3 active feet to work. Browns hit EVERYTHING I put down as long as depth was spot on...walleyes wanted perch pattern tdd11's. Faster we went the more we caught...everybody says you lose more fish with braid....im 19 for 20 on walleye this year trolling...and the dropped fish was operator error! Beautiful morning finally flat and calm. I think the night casting bite is still on, but ill fish in the daylight now that I can troll em. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. My son, wayne, and I left the dock by 5am and had a steady pick trolling all morning. Ended up with 2 walleye, 3 smallmouths, a tiger musky, a brown, and 1 largemouth. Nothing big but a fun morning. Fish took a variety of perch rapalas and spoons off riggers from 15-30 down over 30-60. Had the lake to ourselves and back before 10am. 76 surface temp, 67 down 29, 60 down 31. Lake is set up pretty well. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Picked up 1 more tonight off a rigger 19 down over 50. Wind n rain made it a short troll and we surfed 2 1/2 footers back thru the causeway. Dogs had fun till the fireworks started. Hit it hard in the morning! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Nice work devin! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. If the lake is flat and stays flat no problem...if you get the wrong wind come up you WONT be able to paddle against it to get back to NY. I had an experience in the boundary waters in Minnesota where I couldnt get back to camp and had to emergency camp overnight....not good and I had the luxury of being able to get to shore 10 miles from camp. Too unpredictable for me and Im also experienced. Just my 2 cents.... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I went back to bed too! Hard to start in the rain for sure. I catch plenty enough that I dont have to fish wind and rain unless I have guests that want to! I agree though...perfect day for eyes. Im gonna go this evening I think. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. If you are planning on casting size 14 and 18 rapalas for big walleye id go medium power. If you are casting smaller sticks then medium lite. Lighter reels balance better on lighter power, shorter rods and conversely larger heavier reels balance better on heavier longer rods. Just depends on what size lure you are throwing.
